I agree, the storyline's been too muddled up. But I don't want BIONICLE to end. I just want it to reboot more or less. Maybe some familiar characters (Like Makuta. He needs to be in every year. Always.), and possibly on a familiar setting with familiar species, but with a new fresh storyline. That would make me happy.

Of course, I wouldn't be too upset if they kept BIONICLE going the way it is right now, and have 2011 as a mission to find the key that unlocks Mata Nui's soul chamber and so the Ignika creates a new group of toa from previous Matoran (or something else equally ridiculous).

Going with Bfa, we really can't tell what's going to happen with BIONICLE currently, so all we can do is wait and speculate, but nothing's fact yet.

Currently it seems like:

Wording of retailer's catalogue (Confirmed by Tyranide, a Czech store website and Wout)

General anonymity of Front

Irregular anonymity of GregF and Bink

The Stars are "Anniversary Sets"

Vs.

BIONICLE being a strong and recognizable brand for LEGO

Black Six's impression from TLC Employees he's talked with

I don't know who you are or what your source is. But all the LEGO employees I've talked to haven't said Bionicle is ending. Generally they imply the exact opposite.

Not to be rude, but isn't that what they'd want to imply to sell more toys? I don't think that saying "oh, the line's boned anyway" would be good for business.

A Lego Ambassador for a Bionicle forum would know more on the situation than some retail guy snooping around.

I think ending bionicle and replacing it with something simmiliar would be the best idea. Like bink said, the story is too muddled up. Maybe something fresh and k00l and maybe something with an age group higher than '7'.

oh and do you have the catalog tyranide? can we have pics :D?

oh wait no photos

Remember when Greg told us about Mata Nui dying to distract us fropm the actual surprise? Well, what if this is the same situation? Getting a major battle, all pojnting to an end... And all of this,. at the doors of the 10th anniversary. ;)

I think you're looking at LEGO in too negative of a light there. Yes LEGO is a business trying to make money, but I don't see them purposely misleading fans in that way. I could be totally off though, in which case I'll be sure to yell at Kelly the next time I see him. ;)

Thanks to a good friend to found this pic.

Tales from the brutal world of Bara Magna continue in this all-new collection of BIONICLE stories. Evil is coming to Bara Magna, and only Mata Nui can stop it. But to have any hope of victory, he must discover the dark secrets of his own creators, the Great Beings, and risk unleashing a power so deadly it could destroy the entire world of Bara Magna.

A comet? Maybe thats are new guests showing for the party. And what a party it will be.

Seriously? Why won't the storyline just realize that no one loves it anymore...

I really feel the need for a major reboot, if not a new line entirely. I'm still pushing for a slizers remake...

I like the storyline. What I don't like is that it's ruhed in some parts and tied to sets. I would be a lot more interesting if it were a stand-alone fictional series of books, comics or whatever. Then it could reach its full potential. Now, tied to the sets as it is, it has to keep appealing to 6 to 14 year olds. Oh, and what I also don't like about the storyline is people claiming nobody loves it anymore.

2010 so far is the worst case of story-rushing I've EVER seen.

You know what, that is completely genius... If Bionicle were to be a toy line based on the books, instead of the books based on the toyline, the story didn't have to be so convoluted, they wouldn't have to write for the toys age range, but for the teen fans who are more likely to read the book! I mean, we would still have sets, but they'd be based on what the writers wanted in the story, not what the designers wanted as sets. The Lego group could just release the characters they find the builders would like, and everybody wins!!!!

Think about how a normal franchise works. Star wars isn't forced to make movies based on the action figures, but the action figures are taken from the movies and (I'm assuming) the books. Now, doesn't that sound like a better way to go with Bionicle?

Absolutely.

As I recall, there were (at least it ws my impression) people who don't like constant transformaton of characters in order to keep old ones in story... but look at Spawn toys, they've released 11 versions of the main Spawn alone during 15 years. Well, maybe it's not a good example, but I can't think about anything else but Spawn right now ><

Still, again... I CAN'T say if my info is ABSOLUTELY TRUE. I' WILL hope that it's some kinda misunderstanding, translation problems or intentional misinformation... but if it's true, it's no problem with me. It will be even betetr that way for me - I'll finally be able to get some old sets and concentrate on collecting normal action figures.

But why rushing the storyline THAT much if something big isn't happening next year?

Yeah, but revoloving the sets around the books would be too difficult, too time consuming. It would also limit the amount of characters in the books. Sets are first priority, story is second.

No, it wouldn't limit the amount of characters in the books, it would limit what Lego made based on what was in the books. If story was first, the only problem would be that the sets would be released a bit later then the books were. Even then, Lego Star Wars (star wars seems to be the best comparison to Bionicle I can think of) releases sets around the same time, if not a year earlier than, the movies come out. All they need to do is work along side the writers to see what is going to be important in the next book, so that they have time to make it into a set.

The main problem is that the Bionicle books don't sell well anyways so I think we can kiss that idea goodbye.

Actually, GN10 goes in-depth of MN's journey to the Valley of the Maze.

So, it doesn't make the storyline as rushed.

So, it doesn't make the storyline as rushed.

It doesn't make the storyline any less rushed than normal, it just goes back to go into detail, proving that it was rushed out in the first place. I'm thinking of it like a... director's cut.

I AM THE HARBINGER OF D00M.

I've just returned from the office.

I bring bad news.

BIONICLE truly ends. There will be no more sets after Stars, and the line WILL BE REPLACED by something similar under another title. Even status of the next movie is uncertain now. And, be sure, I'm not talking about Ben10 now. Catalogue clearly talks about "the end of saga".

Sadly we weren't allowed to make any photos, but the 2010 catalogue looks really nice. Prototype Piraka doesn't have a smile.

Either that's true, ot that's a clever misinformation (is it the right word?) from TLC.

I'm going to work with the audio record I made there right now, so stay tuned for other bits of information.

Does it specifically say it's going to be replaced? "End of Saga" just makes me think "beginning of new Saga" since I'm too lazy to go brush up on the definition of that word. Also, BIONICLE: The next generation is a new name . Can't seem to stop relating this to Star Trek except for the fact that, as said, the line isn't doing badly at all. Come to think of it, you could have said Mindstorms was replaced by Mindstorms NXT.

True, it could be another Bionicle line, but all the same, I want them to take that biggest original line they own and start using it to experiment what kids will like, just like Nickelodeon did with that lesbian joke in Drake & Josh....

What if Bionicle gets replaced by some kind of spin-off (just like Stargate). That would be awesome. Imagine the same Bionicle logo, but with another title like BIONICLE Force or Universe (It's just an example :sceptic: ) It could be a futuristic setting or something like that. Not futuristic like Metru Nui, but REAL futuristic, like with space travel and stuff.

No, catalogue itself doesn't say anything more than "end of saga". LEGO employee told me about "replacing", so it can be considered a rumor, I think.
