CabooseBM Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) You wouldn't be saying that if you ever saw the conceptual designs of the Inika. They were the most badass looking Toa I have ever seen, and instead of working along the lines of those designs, they go with designs we have now.-Omi Which where pretty badaft in their own right. Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Which where pretty badaft in their own right. Badaft? -Omi
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Pics? There are no pics online. They were shown in person by Bink at BrickFest 2009. -Omi
Aanchir Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 You wouldn't be saying that if you ever saw the conceptual designs of the Inika. They were the most badass looking Toa I have ever seen, and instead of working along the lines of those designs, they go with designs we have now.-Omi I have seen them. They're absolutely epic, and despite being fused from other parts, their pieces do look finalized. I'm not saying preliminary stuff is all terrible compared to the finalized stuff, and it could very easily be better. But that Chirox's parts are sloppy and uneven, with a goopy-looking shape. You can assume it would be more refined in the final version, but I don't see how anyone could even hazard a guess at what the final version would look like. The build is easier to predict, of course, and from that one image I would guess at it having torso pieces that clash in style and fit together poorly, along with superfluous Technic parts that contribute nothing to the design. Waist articulation is really that model's only redeeming factor as far as build is concerned. And Tilius, if Chirox is basically Antroz for having the same build, then by the same logic original Tahu is basically Gali, Lewa, Kopaka, and Onua (and by extension, Thomas Jefferson is basically Will Ferrell). In fact, Pohatu is the only pre-2007 set to ever have had a vastly different build than his teammates. So I don't see why Chirox is any more boring than, say, the original Lewa Nuva. I'd love to see what you think makes a good canister set series. Obviously not anything from most of BIONICLE's history.
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I have seen them. They're absolutely epic, and despite being fused from other parts, their pieces do look finalized. We're talking about the artwork right? :P -Omi
80 Dollar Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 We're talking about the artwork right? :P-Omi I believe he meant these but I believe this prototype is Jaller Mahri not Jaller Inika.
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I believe he meant these but I believe this prototype is Jaller Mahri not Jaller Inika. Yeah definitely not what I was talking about. What I saw was concepts of all Toa Inika and they were way better than that. -Omi
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Yeah definitely not what I was talking about. What I saw was concepts of all Toa Inika and they were way better than that.-Omi Stop teasing us, ye cruel man!
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Stop teasing us, ye cruel man! Shoulda seen the Chrome Toa Matau Metru too. -Omi
Nightmare Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 I think I know what you're talking about Omi. Kongu Inika in Silver with Kraahkan?
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Kongu Inika in Silver with Kraahkan? Nope -Omi
Darkness Falls Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 Nope-Omi In other words, "I saw this and you didn't, heh heh heh." But really, the sneak preview of the 2005 sets on the Legends of Metru Nui DVD was awesome. The Visorak concepts? BADASS.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 To get our collective minds of the droolworthy images of could-have-been sets -- a chapter on the Toa Mata is up on Bionicle.com. Nifty art, as always! -Ikk
Bfahome Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 However if [pics] can't be [found], then no one can really verify this therefore your claim is more than exaggerated. :P
Omicron Posted February 1, 2010 Posted February 1, 2010 (edited) Bfa you do realize I wasn't the only person who saw these right? You can ask Letagi, B6, Roa, and anyone who was present during the Bionicle presentation at BrickFest. B6 was the only one with the camera and I even said that he was an idiot for not taking a pic but he did it out of respect for Bink. I would have done the same. We even discussed this stuff in the blogs and the Bfest news article. This is why you guys should attend these events. You get to see things no one else does. And even get goodies that people would dream to have. Who knows maybe Front will show them if they made more than one copy. Also to prove my case: Brickfest 2009 news article The next big event I actually got to take part in. The session was called Bionicle, BZPower, & Why It's So Awesome! It was run by myself, Breann, Shilo, and Kelly (Binkmeister) and had a good turnout (much better than the space presentation did). Breann started off by talking about the process she goes through when building a MOC and showed off different techniques that she uses, often dismantling her MOCs in the process. Next I got to talk a bit about BZPower and what it's like managing the Bionicle community and running a website (all the boring stuff no one cares about). Shilo then spoke about the collecting aspect of Bionicle, and showed off a lot of his rare prototypes and misprints. Finally, Kelly stole the show, talking about what it was like to go from a member of the community to a LEGO employee. He also shared lots of cool things he had collected over the years, from prototype sets to concept artwork to comic scripts and more. Lots of these were a big hit and we hope he'll be able to share at least a small part of it with BZPower at some point. -Omi Edited February 1, 2010 by Omicron

I don't doubt what you say about them, but not everyone can take your word that they're awesome without seeing pictures for themselves. This is getting a bit off-topic again though, does anyone know of a large collection of prototype pictures so that we can transfer to a new topic about Bionicle prototypes? As for 2010, the new chapter on Bionicle.com features silhouettes of the Toa Mata which look suspiciously more like Gresh and Strakk...
Aanchir Posted February 2, 2010 Posted February 2, 2010 I believe he meant these but I believe this prototype is Jaller Mahri not Jaller Inika. It's definitely Jaller Inika. There were a Hahli and a Nuparu that went with it; note that it has the Zamor cartridge in its preliminary stage. And there was that prototype Kongu from the "Gear Up" poster; not sure if that was the same stage of development but it had the same level of refinement (despite looking very much unlike the final Toa Inika Kongu). Omi, you've got me kicking myself and wishing I'd hung around with the BIONICLE crew more during my time at Brickfair. And I was already kicking myself for not getting to see Lehvak-Lah's Kraata plushie. But yes, back to 2010. Who else wishes the Mata Nui saga chapters were longer? I was mighty disappointed after this last one. It was maybe one or two sentences at most.

I was mighty disappointed after this last one. It was maybe one or two sentences at most. It would be nice, but the saga is probably meant to last out to be in sync the release of the final chapter, and there isn't much in-between that we don't already know. Considering we get two updates with brand new artwork per week, I'm fine with the trade-off from text to artwork compared to Takanuva's Blog.

Yeah, but I think it would be cooler if (for instance) it got updated once a week and the chapters were twice as long. Of course, I can get the same thing if I only check once a week, so perhaps that's what I'll have to start doing.
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 (edited) MN's Saga chp. 10 is up. Basically, it's a pic of MN leaving Spherus Magna as it shatters. But it looks to me like the Bota Magna and Aqua Magna region just got "shot" out of the planet. Edited February 5, 2010 by Phantoka Kopaka Nuva
RedStar Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 It makes the Shattering seems un-dramatic. D:
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 The Great Beings built an Earth-sized Universe Robot for... this? -_- Talk about an overreaction. I told ya, scales are messed up by these people!
80 Dollar Posted February 4, 2010 Posted February 4, 2010 MN's Saga chp. 9 is up. Basically, it's a pic of MN leaving Spherus Magna as it shatters. But it looks to me like the Bota Magna and Aqua Magna region just got "shot" out of the planet. Hmm, MN Saga...so no new proper serial update this week either...
