Zarkan Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Concerning the element of Psionics and why people are choosing it, I personally don't really see why not. It would certainly balance a team with some of the more destructive and combat oriented elements, such as Plasma and Lightning, and I bet it would result in some really interesting story situations. But hey, I'm also the guy who wanted Kinetics to become an element, and was campaigning a bit for Crystal to become an element. Oh well, at least there's the Expanded Multiverse for that.
the last chronicler Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Yes. There is a major difference between long and TALL.
Brickthing Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Also the robot from IM2 has a nearly duplicate head to Mata Nui. I see the similarity there, but it could easily be a co-incidence of two people coming to the same conclusion of "cool", or even both using the Vitruvian man. It would be interesting to find out if it was a subtle return jab at Glatorian heads. As for Makuta and the Fallen, the similarity coming through looks like just the colour-scheme and evil motifs, which have been around since before either of the two designs. Psionics probably would open some good story situations, but I can't see it working well in balanced Toa team combat, which is really the main point of using the uncommon elements for this new team. IMO it would be better to give a Toa a Psionics based Kanohi for story situations, freeing up a spot for a different uncommon element.
Bfahome Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 There is a major difference between long and TALL. The difference is the Skrall isn't looking down yet.
CabooseBM Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I think the biggest similarity I can recall is between Movie Starscream and Brutaka's mask.
Brickthing Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 All in all the battle videos look fantastic, and it's neat to see them summarize the story in a subtle (if you haven't read other stories) way. What really bugs me though is the complete lack of Bionicle morals compared to other years - the Toa just outmatch and bash the enemies away with elemental powers, and then the golden armor, with no trace of a "fair fight".
Nike2032 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I know this is a bit random, but did we ever find out who were those beings in the red star?
---Vertea--- Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 I know this is a bit random, but did we ever find out who were those beings in the red star? that... is an excellent question. I really don't think we ever DID get a definitive answer. I'll check BS01
Aanchir Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 that... is an excellent question. I really don't think we ever DID get a definitive answer. I'll check BS01 We never found out who they are, but they're the beings who operate and live inside the Red Star (which has its own life in it just like the MU does). They're not Matoran or Great Beings. I doubt they'll ever be especially important, although it would be nice to get some detail on what the Red Star is like inside.
Captain M Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 We never found out who they are, but they're the beings who operate and live inside the Red Star (which has its own life in it just like the MU does). They're not Matoran or Great Beings. I doubt they'll ever be especially important, although it would be nice to get some detail on what the Red Star is like inside. Important? Who do you think in that red star sent the lightning down upon those Matoran in the Toa canisters on Voya Nui?
Aanchir Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Important? Who do you think in that red star sent the lightning down upon those Matoran in the Toa canisters on Voya Nui? See, that's the sort of thing I'd like to be made clearer. But alas, Greg hasn't really given much feedback on the Red Star. Hope it works its way into a serial or something.
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Important? Who do you think in that red star sent the lightning down upon those Matoran in the Toa canisters on Voya Nui? Uh, Greg said they didn't do it on purpose. It was simply "destined", or in a fancy way, "written".
Nightmare Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 Okay Reign of Shadows 12 up. Not saying anything this time, you'll know why when you read it.
Refia Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 (edited) I read it, and I liked it. But it does end rather omniously. Just what is the secret of the Great Beings? And does this mean Angonce is still on Spherus Magna? Why does Lewa always end up in trouble? Teridax vs Shadow Takanuva was a good battle, IMHO! Edited May 17, 2010 by Refia
Trionx Posted May 17, 2010 Posted May 17, 2010 This probably is just coincidence, but has anyone realized that the golden fusion thing could be a Bionicle Bowser? It's golden, semi-reptilian, and uses a castle as a base. It's a damn shame we aren't getting it as a set in any case. Awesome chapter, I really hope Greg is able to update these faster than he has been when we get the next serials...
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 (edited) Finally, we get to see Kopaka after 2 damn years! Seems like Goldie will be a recurring villain now......... Gotta be on lookout for Greg's blog. You never know when he will reveal all the cool story stuffs...... EDIT: I Google'd "The Yesterday Quest", and it happens to have the same name as an Avengers comic issue. Coincidence?...... Edited May 18, 2010 by Phantoka Kopaka Nuva
Trionx Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 EDIT: I Google'd "The Yesterday Quest", and it happens to have the same name as an Avengers comic issue. Coincidence?...... Greg is a big Avenger's fan, so I don't think so. I really want to see a contest for the golden thingy, at the very least I'm going to make my own version...
Zarkan Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 This was easily the best chapter of Reign of Shadows, which unfortunately has been rather hit and miss qualitywise. While it does pose more questions and answers, in this case it's a good thing, as it will provide Greg with plenty of story fodder in Bionicle's set-less future. The big highlights for me are definitely the canonization of Bota Magna dinosaurs and plant-Agori hybrids, the reformation of the Chronicler's company, and especially Alternate Teridax's complete butt-kicking of the Shadow Takanuvas. The final one is definitely a relief, as I was afraid that he would be unceremoniously killed off by his evil alter-ego right before he got smacked in the head with a planet. Now, with the bad Teridax gone and the good Teridax still alive, I think we could really be in store for some interesting story situations. Oh, and a new serial that might focus on the hunt for the Great Beings? Not like this was't expected already, but it's still good to see that they'll be having a bigger storyline role in the future.
Lord-Koji Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Wasn't Greg going to tell us what the green thing was this chapter? Anyway, did anyone else think that Kopaka might fall under the gold thing's spell? I was disappointed when he didn't. I'd love to see him, controlled, fight Tahu and other Toa/Glatorian...
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 It's been 10 days since the last post... Man, this place is really dead......
Brickthing Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 It's been 10 days since the last post... Man, this place is really dead...... With Bionicle over, that seems to make sense.
Captain M Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 With Bionicle over, that seems to make sense. There never were really any posts in here to begin with, compared to the other forums.
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 There are reports that GN #8 and #9 are out in comic stores now. Anybody got scans of #8?
