S-N Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 That would be a really interesting change of pace. I think knowing exactly what the Glatorian looked like in the middle of last year kinda made they're arrival when they finally got to shelves less interesting and momentous. Lol. Back in 2004 when I had really no clue of leaked pics, and saw the Toa Metru in stores I was like "zomg! what are these!".
Brickthing Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Alright the moment leaks are found; I'll probably take a quick peak and then stay away from here until I get the sets D: I wanna see what it's like again lolAnd srsly am I the only one confused as to why Greg would spend years telling us that they had to wait to rerelease the Toa Nuva because they didn't want to confuse the retailers, only to get slapped in the face by Skrall AND Gresh two years in a row? If that's the case, then Toa Mata Nui has been one gigantic slap in the face this year. One store will be like "We've got an awesome exclusive Toa Mata Nui set for only $50!", and all the other stores will say "What? We've got that set too, and only for $10!" That's not really the case though. That's what the product codes and umbrella names are for. The computer isn't going to get confused when those are different, and the different umbrella names, canister art and set design (most likely price too... ) should be enough for consumers and shop assistants to stop being confused as well.

Mata Nui - Item #: 8989 Toa Mata Nui - tem #: 8998 As long as they clearly have two seperate names, they are no slap in the face. Other stores will have them listed like that as well. -Omi Edited September 8, 2009 by Omicron
Tyranide Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Yeah, that would be nice. Just imagine walking into some store in December, and seeing the new sets having no idea what they were going to look like. Turn off your internet. That'll help, I'm sure of it...

Yeah, I agree with that, which is why it's possible that there could be another Gresh & Skrall set next year. Seeing as the Mata Nui and Toa Mata Nui set numbers even use the same numbers, the new sets will probably be less even confusing, as their numbers are completely different.
Bfahome Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 and I liked Gali a lot, once I lengthened her neck and brought her shoulder armor down a peg. GET OUT OF MY HEAD I totally did that too. Yeah, that would be nice. Just imagine walking into some store in December, and seeing the new sets having no idea what they were going to look like. I remember doing that in 2002. I still <3 you Bohrok. Though unless you avoid any BIONICLE or LEGO related sites until December, you're going to know at least something beforehand.
80 Dollar Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Funny, I have just seen the new Star Wars set for 2010 and the names from Amazon were real
Omicron Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Funny, I have just seen the new Star Wars set for 2010 and the names from Amazon were real Still doesn't prove Amazon is being completely honest. :P -Omi

Omicron Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Yepp, thats true, the names simply dont make much sense... Yeah. I think we can just wait until Lego releases something. -Omi
iLego94 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Yeah. I think we can just wait until Lego releases something.-Omi That should be soon, the SW pics are out, so it's only a matter of time . . . ~iL
Omicron Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 That should be soon, the SW pics are out, so it's only a matter of time . . .~iL I said Lego, I didn't say illegal catalog leaks or stupid promos. -Omi
iLego94 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I said Lego, I didn't say illegal catalog leaks or stupid promos.-Omi Well, The catalog pics come from Lego, and the stupid promos come from Lego, so I fail to see a difference. ~iL
S-N Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Turn off your internet. That'll help, I'm sure of it... Nah, if leaked pics show up, I'm looking at them. XP
iLego94 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 I remember seeing the Bohrok the first time and being all surprised. But, since I wouln't being buying all the sets anymore, I like the leaks, because they help me decide beforehand which sets to buy when the sets come out early. BTW, the first '10 comic is comming a lot earlier, so we will probably have the leaks for 3 months, then the sets and the story will arrive in December :) ~iL
Omicron Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 (edited) Well, The catalog pics come from Lego, and the stupid promos come from Lego, so I fail to see a difference.~iL Yes you do fail to see it. The catalog pics are not released by Lego to the public. They are released by Lego to retailers. It is the idiots at the retailers that take shitty pics and show kids like you. And sometimes if they want, edit it to humor themselves. And then other people make shit up to. And you guys just eat it up like candy. When I say "until Lego releases info", I seriously mean just Lego. And the stupid promos are being given away this month, so they are not 2010. They are 2009. Also leaked info is always tentative. Official releases/word isn't. -Omi Edited September 8, 2009 by Omicron
Bundalings Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 edit it to humor themselves When has this happened? Granted, I haven't been around on the interwebs more than a couple years, but every time I've seen 'em, the leaks have been accurate, if very much prototypes. And even if we are totally wrong, you don't need to talk to us like that, with the "you kids" and the "kids like you." Please be a bit more considerate of people. ~Bunda

Did you miss the whole thing with Tilius? Of course he isn't the only one to pass of fake leaks before. Being a former moderator and reporter of a well renowned Bionicle forum, you see a lot. you don't need to talk to us like that, with the "you kids" and the "kids like you." In any case, you are a kid (being 16 qualifies you as one anyways). We all our if we play with toys. So deal with it. ;) Also I don't need any lip from you. You aren't a mod. -Omi Point being, I'm not under 18, and a lot of other people aren't either, so unless you're naming names, posting to "us" refers to everyone reading the topic or involved in recent conversation, of which a lot of people aren't kids. Anyway, that's all really irrelevant to this conversation. Personally I like seeing leaks, as long as they're of decent quality. I'm bound to see the sets officially on the internet before seeing them in stores unless I completely hide from LEGO related web-stuffs, which I don't want to do. At least with leaks like the Glatorian, Phantoka and Inika (especially) leaks, you see prototype sets that you wouldn't otherwise, and it's neat to see what the sets could've been like, and when compared with the finals, sometimes why they were changed. Of course, I fully respect LEGO's reasons for wanting the leaks prevented, so if leaks do arise I wouldn't help spread them until after the official coverage comes, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing them. As a complete alternative, if Front or another BIONICLE employee could provide behind-the-scenes/pre-production pictures after official release dates, I'm all for hammering down on the leaked images.

Too bad. If you are offended by being called a kid, then well you have issues. Who is Front? Never heard of him. But usually that stuff is locked up and only seen with approval. I saw some concepts of the Inika (and other stuff) at Brickfest 2009, but I know Bink needed special permission for all that stuff first. -Omi

You don't know Front? He's our exclusive EB LEGO employee that we love just as much as our other LEGO employee Bink! And he takes darn good photos too. Also, do you have any pictures of those concepts?

But it the tone I was referring to, the derogatory way in which you said it (in my mind anyway). But this isn't a topic about the way I interpret Omispeech so I'm dropping it now. Sorry about that. == Doesn't EB have a policy against posting leaks now? ~Bunda
Brickthing Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 (edited) Doesn't EB have a policy against posting leaks now? ~Bunda Yeah, it does now, which means that no images stamped Confidential or Preliminary can be shown on the site. However, as long as the pictures are only linked to off-site and nobody is screaming objections, the staff might turn a blind eye. We're definitely still allowed to discuss them, and at the worst case where we can't link to them to show them in anyway, that's nothing a quick Brickshelf search can't fix.
