Zip Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 I really hope this list isn't the real stuff. It seems so random. Two toa, a bohrok, two Bara Magnans, a Piraka, and a rahkshi. But guys, I don't think that this is the tenth anniversary, but the ninth. See, 2002, was the first, 2003, the second, et cetera...-K Nah, Bionicle started in '01. Also, I think Vezon would be the only plausible Piraka to be released. And he's not even a part of the Piraka faction.
Brickthing Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 So maybe it's possible that Tahu and Gresh [Remember what Greg said about Gresh having a role in the summer of this year [Maybe it was in RoV, haven't read it]] are Titans of some sort? Gresh is one of MN's team members in their quest across the desert. Anything at this point is still strictly rumors. Nothing can be called true until the list has been officially stated by lego. Unfortunately though, they're listed on Amazon, which means they're reasonably likely to be true. However, it's definitely from a pre-lim list, and as with what happened with Vastus/Gresh, it's subject to change. The Atlantis image is there too, which means that the sets listed aren't completely bogus. I seriously hope the Alternate Universe thing isn't what will happen. Vezon hasn't featured in main storyline since 2006, nor has the Olmak been mentioned or shown. It would make no sense for him to pop into main storyline and shift the focus to a place that is Bara Magna, but has different characters and isn't really Bara Magna. Waay too confusing for kids who don't know all the BIONICLE storyline. The 10th Anniversary thing is logical, but it still needs a good storyline reason to justify such sets. My guess on the storyline is that Mata Nui wins on Bara Magna, then takes Gresh, some other Glatorian and a Skrall army to go reclaim the MU via infiltration on the inside. As cool as it is, I think we all know that a giant robot death match is not the way for BIONICLE to end, because it's not really appropriate for kids, and Mata Nui would need to completely bash up the MU to kill Teridax, making the point of saving the MU moot. Rahkshi is a spelling mistake, I'm sure Amazon's done that before. Piraka is probably the name of a rebel Skakdi clan, seeing as it's going to have to be Skakdi to not confuse the fans who knew the Piraka but didn't know the meaning of the name, yet it can't be the real Piraka 'cause they're dead/sea snakes. If it were only one Skakdi though and not a bunch of them, it would probably have a unique name. Another possibility with these names is that Tahu and Gresh are from the winter wave, and the rest are from the summer "finale" wave. The list on Amazon also included a 2010 advent calender, which I believe comes out at the end of the year, not the beginning.
Bundalings Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 a bohrok There are no Bohrok on the list... They aren´t...only Zaktan is and the others are simply heads with spines that can´t breath air. The others were in the Order's fortress, which I assume got obliterated. ~Bunda
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well, I'll be damned. We know Mata Nui's group stumblle across the GB Lab in the movie, which presumably gives him a way to get off the planet, possibly with some other Bara Magnans. I doubt Mata Nui's grand mission will be completed in the movie -- that'd take way too long and be waaaay too confusing and unrelated for the kiddies. So if these names are real, the only really logical conclusion is that next year takes place in the MU. OR some of the MUans escape to BM... OR Makuta crashland on BM after the movie but before next year... OR... ah, who cares, I just want epic sets. Tahu and Taka and Mata fighting side by side would be a smidgen legendary, if nothing else! -Ikk
Brickthing Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Presumably the movie will end with the Skrall being defeated and the path for Mata Nui leaving the planet being very clear, if there isn't a scene with Mata Nui actually leaving. The synopsis of the movie talks about Mata Nui trying to leave, and even Kiina expresses here interest in leaving Bara Magna. It sets the scene perfectly for a return to the MU next year. As I said earlier, the story team probably realized that if they didn't finish of the MU story soon, it would be too late because kids wouldn't know about it anymore, and it would be way to confusing to reintroduce it without simplifying it to a level that the old fans would hate.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 HAI GUYS I just realized. They'd NEVER release another set named Gresh or Skrall the very year after identically named sets were released. Remember Greg talking about LEGO having to release the Nuva with new titles (though in the end they settled for 'Toa ___' instead of '___ Nuva')? If Gresh and Skrall were sets next year, they'd be distinguished by some new titles like Gresh Lulzika or whatever. The list is fake. -Ikk
hewkii9 Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 (But the idea of an updated Tahu actually sounds pretty cool . . . ) Oh, I remember way back when, we were gonna get an updated Tahu - it was a bit underwhelming in execution, really I hope this is fake - I'd rather not have BIONICLE Justice League. Or the awesomeness of the Bohrok ruined.

But, damn it, I hated the Matoran Universe clashing with Bara Magna in an alternate universe. If this is real, how the hell am I supposed to like it in main story?

Stores had to distinguish between consecutive years in the merchandise so Lego had to have new names... Ikki brings up a really good point. :o Myth busted I suppose, but names of prototypes are never set in stone. I still want a Battle Royale from all previous 9 years. ;_; [-TA-]

It's possible that these are fake, but unlikely. They're on Amazon, match the rumors we've previously heard, and many of the other new sets listed (especially Atlantis) are real. I doubt someone would go through the trouble of making up fake names for BIONICLE of all LEGO themes when they're providing accurate names for the other themes including the more desirable themes like Star Wars. I want a Battle Royale too, but I can't think how it will work in the main storyline without seriously twisting the plot or using an alternate universe, both of which I don't want. As such, a Battle Royale would be better suited for a fan-film. Edited August 11, 2009 by 3D Brickthing
Bundalings Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Or the awesomeness of the Bohrok ruined. Am I missing something? There are no Bohrok on that list. ~Bunda
---Vertea--- Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Though I can't say the characters themselves are welcome, I think that the sets will be fantastic regardless.
The Iron Knight Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 You know, it occured to me that maybe "Gresh" and "Skrall" are placeholder names? Kinda' like how "Brutaka" was Hakaan's placeholder name? Or how "Vastus" was Gresh's. Maybe we're going back to the MU for a year, and then in 2011 occurs where TLR leaves off.

Or what if they're ALL placeholders since LEGO had to give SOMETHING to Amazon. That would explain why there are not titans listed or impulse sets.

Zip Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 But Element Lords would be soooooo muchnbetter... So would Baterra (Would probably look like Neo-Shifters though). Srsly though, I can't wait until this list reaches BZP.
Phantoka Kopaka Nuva Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I don't think that list is real. I mean, would LEGO be crazy enough to re-release only ONE Toa Nuva, and forget the other 5? Still, maybe LEGO wants to do a special 10-year anniversary for BIONICLE, which involves re-releasing some of the best characters in BIONICLE. Of course, I don't see how Gresh and Skrall would fit that category, since they've only been around for barely a year.
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Problem is, 2011 is Bionicle's 10-year anniversary, not 2010. Just like LEGO SW was first released in 1999, and is now celebrating its 10-year anniversay. -Ikk
Mesonak Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 ........ ........ ......... Erm. Well, wow. When I clicked this topic I was hoping for pics, but whatever. XP Erm, I'm still kind of speechless. THIS...could be a fantastic turn for Bionicle, or Lego could be dooming Bionicle to the COLD, HARD, GRAVE. Let me elaborate. If they redesign these sets...If they can give them a unique design, or at least with many new pieces...Then this could be wonderful. If not, if they try and "stick with their previous forms" and only tweak them a little, then this could be very bad. Of course... If "Piraka" means Vezon... And we have Bara Magna/MU... We could be in the alternate Vezon universe. Either that or some crazy plot twist. BUT... If we get yellow rahkshi then I'm in heaven. :P -Mesonak

If we're talking Piraka and Rahkshi, there's no chance for a "unique design". If there is, it wouldn't be the same Piraka or Rahkshi we know and love.
Brickthing Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Piraka can't mean Vezon, because if it were Vezon, the set would be called Vezon, unless there's a storyline reason for all the characters to start calling Vezon "Piraka". Also, a half-Olmak, half-Skakdi head face would be a hideous, asymmetrical and useless for MOCing part.
Omicron Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 Also, a half-Olmak, half-Skakdi head face would be a hideous, asymmetrical and useless for MOCing part. But that is what Bionicle is. Hideous, sometimes asymmetrical and most of the time useless for MOCing. :P -Omi

Geez, it sounds like Summer '08 when all of BZP, [and many of EB] was all buzzing with horror. "OMG THAT'S NOT TAHU! WTF IS GALI... etc." If they are rereleased, I assure you, they will have different bodies/builds/pieces. [-TA-]
