iLego94 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I think the gold pieces only provide armour for Tahu, so you can't build an additional figure and still have Tahu as normal.... Which means I'm probably going to get 2 Tahu sets. Good idea :)

Anyway, sorry I've been gone folks, my Laptop died and I managed to get my ancient PC set up, which I just managed to then.
Shakar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 If it's true that the Winter 2010 line up is solely composed of the 6 Stars, then it's not such a bad thing AFAIC. It allows me to save up money for other stuff, including some old sets I wanted to get (most of them for MOCing purposes). I know I'll get at least Tahu and the Yellow Rahkshi (just writing the words "yellow" and "Rahkshi" into the same sentence makes me squee like a fangirl), they're lovely and with a few mods can be turned into some amazing revamps ( I'd just change the limbs around a little, but think of it, the Rahkshi sets always had some weird proportions anyway- short body, short arms, looooong legs..and the Toa Olda were kinda chibi looking too). Gresh mainly appeals me due to his recoloured weapons and helmet, Skrall only for the Kopaka blade, Vezok still not too hot for, and I couldn't care less for Takanuva (worst executed of the bunch IMO, and has no recoloured pieces). I sure hope summer brings us a Lewa revamp...PLUS ROD MIRU OLDA FTW! And we may see Mata green again...and the sexy axe...*faints* Shakar

VBBN Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Stars sounds like a knockoff name though really lol
80 Dollar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Kind of a long title to write on a little canister don´t you think? It easy and children will go all "They are STARS! They must be cool! BUY BUY BUY!" like...

I think "All Stars" would be a better name for kids - but that's just me. ~iL Edited September 27, 2009 by iLego94
Shakar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Sorry, but it's looking like were only getting 6 Stars. We still don't know know if it's true or not, but according to that text (the one about the 12 impulses, the 3 titans+vehicles, etc..I'm sure you guys remember it, otherwise I'll dig up the topic if you want) there are going to be 12 small sets and 6 cansiter sets (which will come out in summer). I'm starting to think that this text is right....Anyway, I was talking about chibi Lewa. That guy is my favourite Toa set ever, I'd love to have an updated version of him. Shakar
VBBN Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 I haven’t paid enough attention to the 09 story, why is this strap green? Do they have color variety? Is this tumas estranged child?
Shakar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Variety I guess? I don't know, ask that to the guys who thought about making Takanuva white and silver.. Speaking of Takanuva, anyone thinks he's a pretty weak set? Sure, he's got the new parts in white, but he has no recolours, the weapons are wrong so is his colour scheme. He almost seems like an afterthought to me. Shakar

Shakar I think he looks better than the 08 Taka, but I agree i seems that most of the parts are reused.

Shakar Well they can't give him his original gold and white color scheme, because then it would take away from the "Super-special gold pieces!" you get from the Stars. And to people who ask: "Why make a Star of this character?" Well because it was the "Poster Character" of its line: Vezok, Gresh, Skrall, Tahu, and Takanuva. I don't think there was any "poster character" for the Rahkshi, but I'm pretty sure they were very popular as a whole. The yellow coloration is probably just fanservice.

Tahu and Takanuva and the Rahkshi are true Stars IMO. Tahu is lead Toa of 2001, Taka is the lead Toa of 2003 and the Rahkshi are just great villains that really evolved the concept of BIONICLE design (knees, turning heads etc.). I guess LEGO did an okay job with with what they had to do. They really had a hard job - pick 6 sets, 3 heroes, 3 villains - one of each color scheme, and all must be the same size and look okay together. ~iL
Nightmare Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Is it me, or is the Rahkshi supposed to be Panrahk? ._.

Could it be I'm just getting blinder day by day? >_> Anyways, I can't believe it. Only Six Stars sets for 2010 first half? No way. I mean, no way. But, really, no way!

Shakar Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Gahgahgah, the mask is recolored in the newer silver! I'm losing this war.. Oh yeah, I forgot about the "new silver". Changes things a little bit...and I forgot about the gold thing (it'd downplay the SPECIAL GOLD PIECES!!1 you get, like Satellite Jack pointed out).. still a bland set IMO, the only things that save it being the new parts and the Hewkii Mahri shoulder blades (those thing are neat, too bad they're kind of rare).Shakar

I kinda like Taka. He might be a bit bland, but I think the overall effect is still good. But the fact that the mask is the only silver piece other than his blades is a real downer. Should have been white. Also, Av Matoran head. ;_; ~Bunda
Toa Nuva007 Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 On the bright side, at least they didn't do a Vahki star set.
