Yea, beyond all question it is an awesome set.

I didn't mean that it is a bad set, I like it very much and its a must have for me. I'm hoping for a nice interior ;) :sweet:

But I had a different image of the size of the base.

And concerning the roof-part I didnt express myself the right way (My comment was a bit missleading). It was only an assumption based on the pictures. I thought the hole in the roof isn't wide enough for the roof-part and the lights on both sides of it.

What do you think in which price class this set will be located ?

yes I did think the size would be different too.

And I'm not sure what price class it will be located

Pesonally, I will buy any lego Atlantis set Lego throws at us. So no problems with me.

If I didn't see the Portal of Atlantis earlier, I would feel the same way. I mainly want the figures and rings, so the set, providing I can get it, is a huge money-saver.

The portal seems to have eight long blue pieces as the "portal". I think they might be transparent. I wish they included some sort of feature so when you put all the rings in, the pieces spiral out from the sides of the portal. Maybe I'll try to make modifications so it can do that.

Oh, and is it just me, or is there no spot for the red key to be put in on the portal? At the bottom of the ring is some grey piece, which might be the holder.

EDIT: yes, it is. I can't understand why it's not on the top of the portal, but instead at the bottom.

The Red key's place on the bottom of the portal most likely operates the portal, from this picture I can see two things:

lego34.JPG

1) The orange, green, yellow, and blue key holders are just for decoration, which would explain why one operating the portal is not on the actual ring around the portal, room for a mechanism to "open" the portal is not available on the ring, it has to be on the area before the portal.

2) The trans-blue 1x6 slopes are connected to 1x2 bricks with axle holes, which are in turn attached to a technic frame which gives a high possibility of the trans-blue slopes turning to "open" the portal

I didn't see anyone pointing this out yet, so I figured I would add my two cents worth on the Portal to Atlantis

As awesome as an "opening" action would be, it seems more likely to me that the trans-blue parts would merely spin around in a circle to signify the portal being activated as a swirling vortex. Of course, that's just my guess... it just doesn't seem like the portal's ring is thick enough for a more complex action feature.

I imagine the most it'll do is flip the blue pieces up from underneath as if it's "turning on". :|

Yeah :/ nothing much.

Ya, that is probably what it will do :hmpf_bad: , now that I look at the portal the only logical answer is for the whole structure with the trans-blue pieces to flip under the structure like Bfahome said. I am quite sure that the trans-blue pieces won't spin around in a circle, there is no gearing for that.

Right, that makes logical sense, but they could have created a sixth "master key" or something. It would fit well with the new guardian sets, which seem out of place with the old rings, plus, would be better for opening the portal in the set.

I do not get it. :sceptic:

They don't seem that out of place to me. For instance, the scorpion has the crab ring, which not only fits its color scheme but also fits its role as an arthropod.

Interestingly, that pic of the guardian of Atlantis dude from the Finnish Atlantis site showed him with a unique trans. neon green ring, having the same background pattern as the other rings but no sea creature pattern. However, this could very easily have been a prototype.

Well, they're not really out of place, but you'd think they'd use new rings, because people are probably tired of the old rings by now.

I'm pretty sure the ring shown is just for decoration, so it doesn't have to be accurate to the sets. And if I'm not wrong, wasn't it yellow?

Bear in mind that not every kid has the money/influence over their parents to collect five Atlantis sets with different rings in half a year. When I was younger, I certainly did a shoddy job of collecting most themes.

Plus, remember that people here on EB have already been quite disappointed not to get turtle people or crab people in the summer sets. Introduce more animal rings and suddenly you've created even more of an imbalance.

The blank ring might have been yellow. It's been a while since I looked at those pics.

We will get one special ring with portal set with portal pattern. I remember I saw it on one of the pictures from Greece site... There are somewere here in this topic...

I wonder if we'll see any other unseen sets at the NY Toy Fair

there hasn't been much blurb here lately, maybe there will after tomorrow. (because of the NY toy fair)

I love the Atlantis Gateway thing even more now!

The transformed HQ sub looks better than I previously thought. I might get it if the price is decent.

I wish these were out now!

The transforming sub is only $50, I don't think that's bad.

The Shark castle is one of the nicest designs LEGO has ever made.

Atlantis pictures now popping up at FTBT's flickr site! I will post some of them here along during he's uploading them. (Go to this link to also see the pictures in very high resolution: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fbtbnet/ )

I wonder if anybody could get a pic of Mr. gillz without his helmet. :look: All we know is it looks like he has black eyes like the manta man.
