Tereglith Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Wow! That figure seals the deal for me on the big Atlantis set - I've gotta buy it when it comes out! Also - I loled at the one video on the website when the diver said "If this is Atlantis, then I want a refund" - I seem to recall that that was the reaction of many upon seeing the Gateway of the Squid set. prateek Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 These summer sets look cool! I really like that minifig and the fish Quote

user Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I agree about that part.I hope that minifig won't be in the most expensive set but I've afraid it will If you heard someone before said he was "The master of the portal" and the large temple is called the portal of Atlantis. I'll buy the temple no matter what though. Quote
MarcusV3 Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I love the gateway of the squid! and it keeps on getting better I can't wait to buy it and I love that new figure! Quote
The Crazy One Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 (edited) I never realised how much I miss my Atlantis sets at home. Sorry, I'm having a little whimper here. Okay. Next wave = love 'em. Edited January 15, 2010 by The crazy one Quote
GiBBs Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I found this picture somewhere in the Internet. I thought it could be a new one but i'm not sure. It shows 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ, 8078 Portal of Atlantis and 8076 Deep Sea Striker. Quote
RocketClone Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 Man that atlantian really looks like an atlantian this time! I sure hope it's an impluse. And you know those two armor pieces would be great for greek MOCs. Quote
Legorski Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I found this picture somewhere in the Internet.I thought it could be a new one but i'm not sure. It shows 8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ, 8078 Portal of Atlantis and 8076 Deep Sea Striker. This was on flickr some time ago. Someone uploaded a store catalog for the summer of 2010. Its gone now, Lego probably asked to have it deleted. I can't wait for them though! 8D Quote

MarcusV3 Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Just watched the Atlantis tv special it was pretty funny! And really nice to see lego doing such great animation, I really hope they do more stuff like this in the future! An unfortunately common thing was difference in lego elements it bugged me , for example the gateway of the squid made an appearance and the gates were huge! the rings were a lot smaller too, and the diver suits allowed the figures to have hair I wish that was true!!! and the portal of Atlantis also made an appearance! I imagine if we weren't all aware of the set we'd all be saying "I wish they'd make THAT a set!!!" The shark statues are apparently last resort guardians, in the movie they come to life after the portal begins to be activated and defend the portal. Unfortunately they new figure didn't appear but all the other creatures did! It was pretty interesting but I wish it was a bit longer, it seemed like their whole major adventure was packed into 30 minutes Another problem was it's ending came as a big finale almost, they find the city of atlantis and there are newspaper articles about it (Including one saying AFOL news!!!) which made it seem like this is a 1 year theme but I'm sure they did this to give some closure to the kiddies, well at least I hope so! The atlantian buildings were big pyramids and heaps of gold and now I'm REALLY looking forward to next year!!! Quote
The Alchemyst Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 It was a third party doing the animation, wasn't it? Like Tinseltown toons or something like that has done the latest Bionicle Movie and the Clutch Powers movie. Didn't see the movie, so I didn't see the credits, but I'm assuming. Quote
Forresto Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Does'nt that helmet look like a new mold for the greek style of helmet? You know what i'm hoping for people Quote
Bfahome Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 At first I thought that the helmet and armor were one piece. Then I saw they weren't and I was like *awesome*. Quote

My DVR cut the credits off, but otherwise how would you tell who did it?Here's a bunch of images of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/44581321@N07/...57623218819650/ That looks like some of the other stuff on Lego.com. Corvus Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Dang, the new stuff is amazing. I saw the Atlantis special, too. It was great, except for the last bit where they escape the sharks- "They can sense movement! They're blind!" Sharks can see fine, and with the part about movement- even if you stood still, they could sense you. (Animal parts in movies/TV always bug me. ) Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Sadly, like most of the theme, the minifigure is awesome and the "sets" are lacking. Quote

Ooh, pretty! And "AFOL Times" at the end made me laugh! I find it very funny how there's more stuff in the official Finnish Atlantis website than in the UK site. It must've been a mishap of some sort. But for translations, look no further than your own Finnish member. The site says this about the green guy: 8078Gatekeeper Location: Shark Castle Appearance: Resembles more of a fish than a human. The 2000 years old armor has melted into his skin and covers the backspine of the water creature. Personality: The epitome of wickedness, his obsession is to keep Atlantis and its guardians under his control. Humor: Loves to let out a mean and furious laugh, even when the situation is not funny at all. However, the laughter often results in swallowing water and spouts of coughing. Attack: Even though he knows how to fight, he prefers to look his underlings fight from the sides, while laughing maliciously. Hehe, it's evident who the target group of this "info page" is. If you want more translations, just ask away. Quote

CMP Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 I enjoyed the special. I liked the appearance of the inside of the Neptune Carrier. I wish it was that big, with that exact design too. By the way, that was a freaking big crab. Quote
cryoshell Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 dunno... why are the winter sets allways better than the summer one´s ...? They change, but not in a good way, I think. Also, they should make themes that last longer, not introducing a new one every year... Anyway, this Turtle Warrior helmet will make a good Gladiator one... Quote

Tanotrooper Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Yes! Finally a Greek helmet! Looking forward to the sets TT Quote
Sandy Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Oh... It's a turtle warrior? If so then Kool! 8D No, it's a fishman, officially called the Gatekeeper. Read my translation from the official Atlantis site just a few posts above. Quote
Chef Hatchet Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Damn. That Dragon-fish thing is major want. This is shaping up to be one of the best system themes in years. Maybe they'll stop using stickers. Kids will want to fill their sink with water or use them in the tub or something, considering this is an underwater theme. Stickers will be ruined that way. I would have. Quote
