Batbrick Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Love the look of the later set and the creatures look suitably menacing. The new fig is very mysterious and I love all the different trolls that Lego is making. "Trolls" that is However I'm awaiting pics on the big set, as that will be the only one for me to consider buying, and its delay in having a good picture further fuels my fervent fandom for its fleeting findings. Wow, that last part was on drugs, ignore that Batbrick Away! Quote
Bfahome Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Today I got the Wreck Raider and Monster Crab Attack sets. I like them both. The crab has cool posable legs and the Raider is fun to swoosh. I think the Atlantic keys would make good wheels on some wizard's cart of tricks. And also talismans for 9 MOCs. Sharky is cute. :3 Also it's cool to have harpoon gun and grappling hook pieces now, as I'd never gotten any before. Quote
diggitydug Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Was the red Octupus guy in 8061 available in any other set, like an impulse buy? For some reason I keep thinking I saw him in one, but I could be blending memories. Also i really want to get a better picture of that Underwater base, and the price point. I need to decide if its going to be worth picking up one (or two) or I should just buy the parts and MOC my own. Quote
GiBBs Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 No it is only available in 8061. But I think in the new portal of atlantis 8078 is one too. I hope also for better pictures of the underwater base but there aren't any in the Internet at the moment. Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 21, 2010 Posted January 21, 2010 Okay, now that I've finally seen some images and found out about the story of the Atlantis movie, I've noticed a few obvious things. Some particular things, such as the Gateway of the Squid and Neptune Carrier sets, are upscaled in the movie. I'm not sure if this was in the movie, but in the review, they also mixed up the colours of the squid ring and the manta ray ring. I also thought of something interesting. In the movie, we see Atlantis as being a golden, ancient Greek-like city, as it's normally portrayed. The new minifigure also has golden armour. Maybe the armour's linked to the city? It also explains the spartan-like style of the helmet. Another thought briefly flashed through my mind. Maybe the inhabitants were mutated into sea creatures, or something? That further explains the armour. Also, it would definitely explain the motives of the creatures if this was true. Quote

Yes, it would give them good reason to want to protect the keys. Quote
EspEth12 Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 (edited) ok, I'm losing this 'debait' aren't I? Crabs are small, lego made them big and menacing in set form and the movie, so it's possible that we may see a giant evil nautilus! Oh, god! It doesn't sound very menacing, does it? "OMG A GIANT NAUTILUS!!!!" he he he that might be cool Edited January 22, 2010 by EspEth12 Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 Nice idea about the mutation. It can be true... Just look on Manta Warrior torso- It looks like destroyed jacket. Quote
The Crazy One Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 It can be true... Just look on Manta Warrior torso- It looks like destroyed jacket. That might be an idea, because if it was a human civilisation, it would make sense. Good idea, but, I don't think the torso is connected. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 22, 2010 Posted January 22, 2010 It can be true... Just look on Manta Warrior torso- It looks like destroyed jacket. Considering that Atlantis was an ancient city with ancient people, I doubt it's actually a rotten jacket. Quote

Delta 38 Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 It can be true... Just look on Manta Warrior torso- It looks like destroyed jacket. I always thought it was part of the body itself. I'll have to get the minifig first. Another theory why it might be a mutation is that they're obviously humanoid, something we haven't seen in the last few underwater themes, e.g. Aqua Raiders. It could just be Lego deciding to have more of a variety, or maybe it could be both. That gives me another idea. After they find Atlantis, maybe they'll try to find out where the creatures came from, and why they protect the rings, though I'm pretty sure we won't see that idea in sets. Quote

Well its probally because they're are trying to keep people from entering the lost city of Atlantis Quote
Aanchir Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Considering that Atlantis was an ancient city with ancient people, I doubt it's actually a rotten jacket. Maybe later people who drowned in the region also got mutated. It's an interesting hypothesis, for certain. Not sure if it'll ever be explored by the actual story, since we haven't seen much hinting at a steadily-developing story structure for this line (i.e. online comics or something to that effect). Delta 38 Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Well its probally because they're are trying to keep people from entering the lost city of Atlantis Well, that's almost certain, but why? On a different topic, I wonder if there are going to be any other sets after the Portal of Atlantis set. Personally, I think it would be an ideal way to finish the line, but that wouldn't be a good thing. There are still possibilities for new creatures. Oh, and maybe in the base, we'll see the minifigs out of their diving suits, like in the Atlantis movie. Quote
Bfahome Posted January 29, 2010 Posted January 29, 2010 Oh, and maybe in the base, we'll see the minifigs out of their diving suits, like in the Atlantis movie. I hope so. Those were much better "inside" clothes than the hose-covered suits they're wearing now. Quote
bugefun Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I'm not sure if you have seen these movies yet. http://atlantis.lego.com/en-us/Movies/Default.aspx One interesting thing, is that at the end of part 6, they have different newspapers, and one is called the AFOL TIMES. Quote
SharkMan Posted January 31, 2010 Posted January 31, 2010 Thanks for the new pics Pig! You're on the frontpage. I'll deeplink the other pics here as well. Love that snake! Ya the snake looks awesome but i think it is an eel lol! Quote
