Bfahome Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Is it just a trick of the lighting, or does Kongu's mask have lime green swirls towards the back? Quote
Front Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Is it just a trick of the lighting, or does Kongu's mask have lime green swirls towards the back? No, I'm simply exposing the head to too much light, making the plastic look transparent. Look at the chest (torso) piece also in green, light travels through it. Nothing strange about that though, I guess. Quote
80 Dollar Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Thanks for doing this Front, I really love those pictures. Please do continue. Quote
Front Posted September 1, 2009 Author Posted September 1, 2009 Thanks for doing this Front, I really love those pictures. Please do continue. Glad that many like the photos. The pictures has gotten a bit repetitive regarding lightning etc. so I will try and be more creative in the pictures to come. Still got sets to deal with, picked up two Phantoka canisters today I did not have. If anyone would like a particular photo in a larger size, for desktop-background, printing or just to have on the computer, you are welcome to PM me, stating which resolution you need. Like e.g. 1600x1200 pixels, instead of the 800x533 pixels shown here. The original files are approximately 4300x3100 pixels, and can be printed very large. I'm using my Canon 5D, a 12.8 Mpixel camera, and a 50 mm Sigma macro lens. Quote
BCii Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 All these photos are beautifully done and really bring out the nostalgic in me. I enjoy feasting my eyes on the sight of these figures, appreciating the aesthetic sense and the dedicated work that went into their design. I own most of the sets dating back to the beginning of BIONICLE, but I usually take them apart soon after building them and rarely put them back together again, even when it's technically possible to do so. My compulsion for MOCing, for having a large pool of parts available for building, is just that strong. Thanks for the great pictures, Front. Keep them coming! Quote

VBBN Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 The Mahri never did have the best quality plastic...(Nuparu and Hahli's joints, Kongu's thin plastic, etc.) Axxon looks great in that pic though. I just wish his mask hadn't been so overused in the playsets. I have about 10 of them now. It's a neat mask and all, but still. And the lighting on Hahli's mask makes it an awesome shade of blue. Too bad it doesn't look like that in normal light... Quote
---Vertea--- Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I LOVE the blue sets, but my major issue is that the dark blue is too dark and overused. I'd like to see more of the old blue again. Lewa Phantoka's mask was alright, I guess. I like the vehicle form better, though. It's much more... intimidating. Too bad it only came with the most expensive set that year. Quote

iLego94 Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Great pics :) What kind of camera? ~iL Quote
Front Posted September 7, 2009 Author Posted September 7, 2009 Great pics :) What kind of camera?~iL I've got a Canon EOS 5D since early 2006. It's an expensive camera, but I use it for my other big hobby: photographing dragonflies. I have four macro lenses, ranging in prize between 350 and 900 Euro, so I'm a bit of a macro-photo nerd. All the pictures here has been taken with the same lens, a Sigma 50/2.8 Macro, the least expensive I've got, but it is very suited for photos like this, and is a great sharp lens. One day I might have used more money on Lego than photo gear, but that is still gonna take some years. Quote
The Alchemyst Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I like the Whoosh looks of the Axalara Miru Nuva though. I'd say it has the most Whoosh factor out of almost all the masks. And the Faxon. Probably one of the most beautiful mask in recent years. [-TA-] Quote

Nightmare Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Front, could you please take a full pic of that Icarax? I'm interested to see how you modified the right weapon Quote
The Alchemyst Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 If you're talking about the shield, it looks like he just took a long exposure and spun it. The sword build is pretty obvious, so I'm guessing you mean the shield. [-TA-] Quote
Front Posted September 12, 2009 Author Posted September 12, 2009 (edited) The sword pieces has been rearranged, and I don't think I needed suplementary small technic pieces. Actually the shield is modified too (can't be seen in the picture). It has three blades instead of two, and they are attached through Three cross axle - connector. Before I took the pictures I removed the Vultraz mask which I have normally fitted on Icarax. The makuta mask is then attached on his back :-) Edited September 12, 2009 by Front Quote

In the last pic of him, he was in the back, and out of focus.~iL Have you seen these: Mata Nui "Review" I would kind of like to stick to the one picture pr. set rule that I've followed until now. But I could maybe make some new close ups of Mata Nui, and add to that review (there are two close ups there already). Quote
