Posted August 22, 200915 yr Can anyone suggest a good source of tan bricks in sizes 1 x 4 and larger? I already own the Creator Family Home, are there any other current/recent sets with a largish quantity of tan 1 x 4, 1 x 6, 1 x 8, 1 x 10, 1 x 12 or 1 x 16? (or do I need to buy another Family Home or order on Bricklink to get more?)
August 22, 200915 yr Best source would definitely be BrickLink, in my opinion. Although if you can get your hands on a The Lost Tomb from the first year of Indy, that might be good.

Too bad you weren't able to get it when it was on sale at S@H for half off. Bricklink would probably be your best bet, or I think that the newest Creator Family House is primarily tan...
August 22, 200915 yr It's an older set, but I remember a Creator set called Wild Animals(?) that had a decent number since the lion was made of tan bricks.
August 22, 200915 yr I would get 4954 Model Town House, because it has these 1 x # bricks in tan (according to BrickLink): 18 1 x 1 bricks 56 1 x 2 bricks 48 1 x 3 bricks 29 1 x 4 bricks 11 1 x 6 bricks 25 1 x 8 bricks 26 1 x 10 bricks one 1 x 16 brick while 6754 Family Home has these 1 x # tan bricks (again according to BrickLink): 20 1 x 1 bricks 56 1 x 2 bricks 35 1 x 3 bricks 32 1 x 4 bricks 23 1 x 6 bricks 15 1 x 8 bricks I'd say the Temple of Akator. The Temple of the Crystal Skull set only has 15 1 x 6 tan bricks. Edited August 22, 200915 yr by ILikePi
August 22, 200915 yr Medieval Market Village, I'd say. It has a good amount of tan parts, as well as plenty of other useful parts.
August 22, 200915 yr As ILikePi has already pointed out, really only the Creator sets have decent amounts of 1x X tan bricks in large quantities. The Indy sets have lots of different bricks in tan, but not so many basic ones. Since the Model Town House is no longer available, I'd either buy another Family Home while it's on sale here or just use Bricklink.
August 22, 200915 yr I would get 4954 Model Town House ...while 6754 Family Home ... I wouldn't go for 4954. It's out of production and is only available for high prices on bricklink and eBay. Either you buy tan bricks on bricklink or you buy a second Family Home 6754. These are the two solutions I can think of.
August 22, 200915 yr Author I already own one Model Town House. Thanks for the advice, I will keep building until I run out of tan bricks (mostly from Model Town House and Family Home and a few other things) and then if I still need more for what I have in mind, I may go ahead and pick up another Family Home (or place a Bricklink order)
August 22, 200915 yr I have no idea what the going rate os for them now, but I've got two copies of the Yoda Statue from a few years back. I mainly bought them for the large quantity of sand green, but they've also got a pretty amazing quantity of tan brick. They were both 2nd hand, but unbuilt and fairly cheaply (think Edited August 22, 200915 yr by Ralph_S
August 22, 200915 yr Author My original plan was to build a fairly large apartment building (at least 3 full stories) but I realized I would never have enough tan or enough windows. Plus when I got the first floor complete, I realized it didnt work as an apartment building. Ended up changing the intent of the building into a day spa (the kind of place you go to get massage, beauty treatments etc). And then when I build the second level and roof, turned out I had just enough tan to pull off what I wanted (and just enough red roof bricks also) Pics to come once I get some light thats usable.

Well said. 6754 is a fantastic buy, I plan to pick up several copies to stock up on tan bricks. (I missed out on 4954 :() I wouldn't even mess around with BrickLink, the tan parts alone from 6754 would cost you ~$43, assuming you could find one seller that hand all of them for the average price. Here's the tan parts from 6754, with quantity and the average BL sale prices:

Well than the Family Home (of which I already have three because I like the models ) would really be perfect. After all there's loads of tiles and other useful stuff in the inventory! Benny
