prateek Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 (edited) Maybe it's time to replace your speakers. I had the same problem so I replaced the speakers and it started working again. Edited August 22, 2009 by prateek Quote
MrTools Posted August 22, 2009 Author Posted August 22, 2009 Maybe it's time to replace your speakers. I had the same problem so I replaced the speakers and it started working again. Well the speakers work on the games that are downloaded so i dont think they are broke or anything, they just wont work on anything else. Quote
Rick Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Probably an issue with the drivers for the sound card (that the game handles by itself/differently from the operating system), but I can't offer any specific help, besides maybe trying to reinstall your sound card driver (from a CD or try to find them online). Peppermint_M Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 First Question MAC or PC? If it MAC I can't help (I have no truck with Apple products) As for PC, my families has had all sorts of graphics and audio driver issues. If you go to Control Panel and select "Classic View" (on XP and Vista OS-es) there should be an option marked 'Device Manager' you can check if the speakers are all correct in there. There is also a 'Sound' option in the Control Panel. One of those should lead to the option of checking the drivers and re-installing any missing ones. If those two don't assist, take a note of the exact problem and see if there are any computer savvy chaps you know who can give you exact step by step instructions and demonstrate the fix (That is how I fixed our PC, local independant Computer Repair shop with a very helpful owner who showed me exactly how to fix it). Skipper 24 Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 (edited) I assume you are using a Windows. First I would advise checking your speakers are selected on Control panel. First open control panel select hardware and sound item or on classic view select sound or speaker options or whatever it's called depending on your OS version Vista, XP, 2000 etc. If on category view after clicking hardware and sound select the sound option. Now you should get a list of all your audio devices including speakers and mics. Make sure you speakers are selected and nothing else. If that doesn't work, check your drivers. To do this on vista use the search box for device manager or on XP and older open up the administrative tools folder (still in control panel) and then select device manager from there. (it may be called computer manager or something similar). A new windows should open with a tree list containing items such as computer, disk drives, display devices etc. Find the one related to sound, most likely it will be called sound and video or similar. Click the plus symbol to expand the tree. Now select one of the new items and some symbols should pop up on a bar at the top. Mouse over them until you find one corresponding with update driver. Click it and repeat it with all the devices under the sound tab. If non of them update and your sound still doesn't work you may need to select uninstall driver from the icon on the bar and then find drivers after they have been uninstalled. Hope this helps you out. Edited August 23, 2009 by Skipper 24 Quote
