Lego_Warlord_8 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) Another creation of mine is under construction. I'm hoping to make this my biggest and best port yet. To keep me motivated, and to get tips and advise, I have decided to post little reports of how it's coming along. Without further delay, here is what the port looks like at the moment. (due to resizing issues, I have resorted to links. I will see if I can get this resizing thing figured.) This is how the water and the look currently. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4078821 The half-finished fort. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4078823 The ship. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4078827 And now, a teaser of who will be the port's occupants: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=4078826 I would really appreciate constructive criticism throughout the construction of the port. ~LW 8~ (A.K.A. ~SR~) Edited August 29, 2009 by Lego_Warlord_8 Quote
JCC1004 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Could you please resize these images? They are making my computer almost freeze. From what I saw it looks good. Quote
maydayartist Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Yes this will be very funny when it's done. Keep on working. And JCC1004 is right, the picture size is a little bit hardcore ;) Quote

Lego_Warlord_8 Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 (edited) And now, the second status update: dock measurements. I'm currently toying around with measurements and techniques. Does anyone have suggestions for how the dock should be constructed? SNOTy or bricky? The brown color is just an example, the real thing will be in gray. ~LW 8~ Edited August 25, 2009 by Lego_Warlord_8 Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 I like the SNOT docks a lot better, but if you like to play around with it and place a lot of minifigs on it, i'd go with plates on top. Quote
Rick Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Personally I don't like bricks on their side to construct 'floors' and I don't even mind to have studs showing on top. But you could always finish things of with tiles. Quote
Admiral Croissant Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 SNOT is a good way to build the water, since you can always place minifig's in boats. On the dock I would prefer the bricky way. That will make it a lot easier to place figs and other stuff on it. or maybe you could use both in a way..(btw, that gun looks pretty dangerous ) Quote

Their LEGO, some are Me#$ Bl*@&, but that's just a temporary. I'm ordering a bunch of bricks from Bricklink. BTW, you mean 2x4's right? ~LW 8~ Pssst, Hey you! BTW, you mean 2x4's right? ~LW 8~ Yeah, sorry, I meant 2x4's. Now that the links are working, I'm liking what I'm seeing. You might want to take out a couple of those cannons in the fort though, it seems like there's a bit too many. Edited August 30, 2009 by Spyder Quote
Ryan_T Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 Agreed.. to many cannons. althought they look like they could put quite the dent into some pirates ships.. :pir-skull: Quote
Joey Lock Posted August 31, 2009 Posted August 31, 2009 They look like mega bloks. Does that really matter? As long as you tile over it, theres no need to waste perfectly good bricks! Quote

Lego_Warlord_8 Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 (edited) At last, I find time to tinker with my port. This is what I decided to do for the whole dock area, mix tiles with plates. I will need to order a ton of bricks and elements from bricklink really soon to continue the project EDIT- BTW, the brown bricks will be substituted to gray.
