WesternOutlaw Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 I wanted to test out a new digital camera and take some shots of some classic castle figs (all this discussion re. forestmen), so here's a few shots of some early Lego Castle Figs that I dug out of the garage. Knight's Procession - from a few of set 677 - this was a great set to build an army: Royal Guards - from a few of set 383 (Knight's Joust): Still working on learning a new camera. I'll post some more images as I make these sets. Quote
Lost Viking Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Hey Brickster, neat pictures! I hope your new camera works out for you. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 28, 2005 Author Posted December 28, 2005 Thanks. Here's a better resolution shot of the whole army (didn't build all the horses yet and the figs from the yellow castle aren't included). Quote
snefroe Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 you've got quite a collection of classic castle figs! did you buy the figs at BL or so or did buy the sets in the early 80's? Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted December 28, 2005 Author Posted December 28, 2005 I purchased one of each set (castle, joust, and procession) in Germany and picked up a few extra of the joust and procession a few years later when they hit the U.S (early 80s). Quote

Lost Viking Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Great pictures! I wish I had that collection :') Quote
snefroe Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 one remark, tho. the soldiers and flags on yellow castle aren't the original ones ... question: look at the shields of both white-blue knights. the dark brown on both shields look different. is that the light or are they really different? Quote
Aredhel Posted December 28, 2005 Posted December 28, 2005 Nice. This looks REALLY CLASSIC!!! *y* Quote

The flags come from a few of Knight's Joust sets (2 flags per set). The original flag was white with a sticker of a crown to go with the blue knights. See Yellow Castle 375 thread. Re. the shields of the white/blue knights, one is slightly faded (worn). The color was originally the same. Quote
Djole Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 You have nice collection of figs here,brickster... Those were figs, not these KK2 now.. I just wish I was born 10 years earlier.... Greetings from Serbia Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 I love those classic castle figs :'-( I have some, but there are never enough. Nice army, and nice camera! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 15, 2006 Author Posted June 15, 2006 You have nice collection of figs here,brickster...Those were figs, not these KK2 now.. I just wish I was born 10 years earlier.... I wish I had purchased more of these sets during the 80s and expanded my castle collection back then, but I fell out of castle and started buying classic city. Be careful what you wish for though. 10 years of youth is much more valuable than Lego as you start getting older (at least I'm learning as I get wiser and less intelligent). I love those classic castle figs :'-( I have some, but there are never enough. Nice army, and nice camera! Thanks. I still have these in pretty good shape. I always kept the castle sets away from the mass brick boxes. It helped a lot over the years. Here's a review of the Yellow Castle to go with them: Yellow Castle 375 Review And a simple display case to show some of them: Classic Castle Fig Display Case Quote
Starwars4J Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Speaking of a display case, it's my wish that, after I finish the REAL MOCs I'm working on, that I'll make a Lego "Museum" to display my rare figs and parts. By that I mean a decent-sized Lego building to display my rarest figs and parts. I'm a bit of a collector, so I'm just drooling over that picture of yours Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 I would like an entire room with a huge glass case in the middle or high shelves to display just my classic collection. Quote
JoeMI6 Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Loving all that classic castle. Retro Lego (if I'm allowed to call it that ;-) ) is totally awesome. I just wish I had some 'hint hint' X-D . Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted July 7, 2006 Author Posted July 7, 2006 I always thought I had a pretty good collection, but take a look at this Brickshelf find: Quote
christopher110 Posted July 7, 2006 Posted July 7, 2006 I always thought I had a pretty good collection, but take a look at this Brickshelf find: Hahaha, there's a Chinese proverb that says "a mountain is high, but there is always a higher mountain out there"...... ;-) Anyway, your collection is very impressive...... You are luckier than most of us who don't own a single one of the army at all. :'-( Quote
