The Who Posted December 17, 2010 Posted December 17, 2010 No need to be sorry. For those interested the 27th hackers conference starts on the 27th, with well known hackers from all consoles giving speeches, including one of the guys behind the PSGroove, and supposedly going to explain how Sony failed in its security, and new exploits coming. Where is this being held at? Quote
DarthSion Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 http://events.ccc.de/congress/2010/Fahrplan/events/4087.en.html It is being held in Berlin. Quote

RileyC Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 I saw this headline on a tech site the other day, and it was severely misleading. It sounded like a PS emulator was released. I know it would be really crazy for Sony but it wouldnt be the craziest move. The PSP is stagnant at the moment and iOS and Android are booming. An official emulator would be awesome and I would sure buy games at about $20-$30 NZ. Then it turns out its just an app to connect to your friends list and a blog . Trophy interaction is alright which would give you a quick look at which ones you need but I cant see any other use than that. Quote
DarthSion Posted December 18, 2010 Author Posted December 18, 2010 I assume you mean you thought it was a PSX emu, you would have to be very sleepy to think the ifades could run the ps3, hell they probably could not even run the PSX. As for the PSP, yeah Sony shot themselves in the foot three times, first was such absolute piss weak security, the second was the UMD, and lastly the PSPgo. Should be interesting to see how the PSPhone goes. Really seems like the Apple Sony buy out is possible with this ifade app. Quote
DarthSion Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) Oddworld Strangers Wrath HD screens. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2010/12/22/oddworld-strangers-wrath-for-psn-taking-hd-remakes-to-the-next-level/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29 Looks good, just a pity we have to wait so long to play it, damn sell outs. BTW off but on topic, all 4 games including the original abes games have been released in a collection for PC called oddworlds oddboxx. Edited December 23, 2010 by DarthSion Quote
simonjedi Posted December 24, 2010 Posted December 24, 2010 Little big planet looks pants shittingly good. The Psn store was updated with quite a few stuff. LBP demo, Mass Effect 2 demo and Dead Space 2 demo. For Xmas my awesome friends brought me both bioshocks and the first dead space, so i'm busy this xmas. Quote
DarthSion Posted December 30, 2010 Author Posted December 30, 2010 Word from the hackers conference is the PS3 private key has been found, allowing one to take full control of the ps3 with out a usb micro controller. http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/29/hackers-claim-discovery-of-ps3-private-key-enabling-unauthori/ Quote
DarthSion Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Must fight to not rub it in to Sig. Rebug, PS3 master keys found, pkg encryption and decryption, failoverflow tools, CFW likely with in the month, GT5 hacked, now PSP master keys found. Oh my bad week for Sony lol. BTW if anyone is looking for a great game to play, try Enslave odessy to the west, its from Ninja theory who did heavenly sword, its a smasher, which predefined Parkor stuff, with a great story and funny. Siegfried Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Must fight to not rub it in to Sig. Rebug, PS3 master keys found, pkg encryption and decryption, failoverflow tools, CFW likely with in the month, GT5 hacked, now PSP master keys found. Oh my bad week for Sony lol. Huh? Let's review what I said about this; Sony's answer to combat this is to use new encryption keys since firmware 3.42, so yeah i am right Well you keep thinking that, but the evidence is against you and you've been shown to not understand the PS3 as well as you think you do in the past. (NTFS remember?) This news was posted by someone with links to Sony, and he has pulled his post since and said that he's going on "extended leave". He's been on that forum for 4 years and he was a moderator; hardly a random source or a "retard". You keep going on about decryption/encryption keys like that's the full story when I keep saying, and surely you must know, that is only part of the story. GT5 is a major release for the PS3, possibly the biggest ever, and Sony will do their darnedness to keep it legal. Will they succeed? Probably not long term, but it'll be interesting seeing what happens. For the record I doubt that it'll be a case of simply changing the keys. They will lock it to 3.5+ in some way, probably by adding features that we going to be added in a patch. Well you can keep selling, but I aint buying this whole piracy is the reason, this game has been delayed 9 times now. Yeah, they have done badly there, but this is hardly a rare occurrence in the game industry. Software writing is often more an art than a craft, especially with a CPU that is as complicated as the Cell. Not to mention, I don't care, not getting the game, and in the end we will win, sooner or later custom firmware will come just like it did with the psp, and eventually it will fall like a house of cards, especially with more and more inside stuff being leaked. I don't get that attitude at all. If it goes as you're claiming all you'll be able to play is old games, PS2 games and Homebrew as Sony will give up on the PS3, make the PS3.5, and this time lock it down even more than last time. Surely you don't want that? But I don't plan to buy GT5 either. Serious car games are just to serious for me most of the time. Drive 9 laps in first place just to make an error on lap 10 and lose the race by ten seconds? Not my bag at all. I said that I think it'll be hacked in time and that I think they'll do more than just change the codes. If you read the effort one has to go to to get GT5 going illegally, it sounds like it's cheaper to buy the game in terms of time wasted and features lost. Also, it does seem that they did use some new APIs, but they obviously didn't have time to use them deeply. So rub my face in it all you want. In any case, I'm going to have to put my moderator hat on and ask you to stop discussing cracking (PS3 or otherwise) on EB. Regardless of the angle of personal freedom, these selfish crackers are stomping on my personal freedom (for example my USB arcade sticks don't work anymore since the USB crackdown) and I still see it as a way for people to steal games off hard working programmers like me. If you wish to complain about this please PM me. BTW if anyone is looking for a great game to play, try Enslave odessy to the west, its from Ninja theory who did heavenly sword, its a smasher, which predefined Parkor stuff, with a great story and funny. Yeah, that's on my list. I've played the demo and I quite liked it. Quote
DarthSion Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 Oh better not. You should see about getting enslaved, its a brilliant game, the company Ninja theory must be plan nuts though, they have made 3 games, and 3 yes 3 new IP's that is just unheard of these days, although it certainly seems to work for them, heavenly sword is very impressive, as is enslaved. I just hope they stop this, I really want to see where HS and EottW go, HS is known to be a trilogy, and EottW leaves things open for a sequel. I see Enslaved art director Alessandro Taini has been tapped to do the devil may cry reboot. I also see Tiger woods is not on the cover of the latest version. Last but not least, I see there are even more photos of the PSPhone, rumours point to android ginger bread 3.2 being used. http://www.qj.net/qjnet/psp/more-playstation-phone-images-surface.html BTW slightly off topic, but rumours have it the CES running this week microsoft will show off win8, and rumours this will be when Sony confirms the PSPhone. simonjedi Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Alpha Protocol isn't really that good, which is a shame, because I like Obsidian (KotOR, Fallout New Vegas) and i really like the rpg elements, the actual gunplay isn't though, and that's 80% of the game. Quote
DarthSion Posted January 5, 2011 Author Posted January 5, 2011 If you like rpg then I hear dragon age origins is very good. Quote
simonjedi Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 Sorry for the piracy talk, but this is an important question, because I don't quite get it. I'm not going to pirate games or use my PS3 to play a crappy homemade game of frogger. I'm not going to get my HD wiped because some bastard thinks it's funny? Quote
DarthSion Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 I had an answer, but I am not going to piss off Sig again, unless he says other wise no comment. Quote
CF Mitch Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) I have a question based on pure curiosity. But who will be buying DC Universe Online, and who will be playing it on the PS3, instead of the PC? I'm definitely ordered it for PS3, as I don't have any pc in the house capable of running it smoothly. Heck, the pc I use for games even has issues running LEGO Universe Regards, Mitch Edited January 6, 2011 by CF WeaZZel Quote
DarthSion Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 I do not know anything about it, is it online only like mag?. Quote

Even I go to other forums when I want to discuss or learn about things other then LEGO. Quote
CF Mitch Posted January 6, 2011 Posted January 6, 2011 (edited) I do not know anything about it, is it online only like mag?. Not sure what kind of game MAG is, but DCUO is an action-themed/based MMORPG, so yes it is online. And you have to pay at least a monthly subscription. is the game's Cinematic trailer, which I think is really awesome. It also explains about how it is possible to have an MMORPG of the DC Universe. The game's gig is that you can create your own superhero or supervillain, with lots of options and possibilities, and work together with existing DC characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. But also with The Joker, Lex Luthor, or Circe. Edit: Thought I'd also link you to the official site of the game (that's allowed, right?): http://www.dcuniverseonline.com/ Regards, Mitch Edited January 6, 2011 by CF WeaZZel Quote
DarthSion Posted January 6, 2011 Author Posted January 6, 2011 Then no, I tried out evony an only game, but if you did not play allot you were at a disadvantage, and no way would I pay to buy a game then pay to play it. Quote

Ah, Okay. Makes sense, I guess. But I'm a big DC fan, so... I played Evony too, I believe. Not for long though, turned out to be a bit boring for my taste. Ah well, I'll just be waiting for DCUO's release, which is either the 11th or 14th of January Regards, Mitch Quote
DarthSion Posted January 7, 2011 Author Posted January 7, 2011 I didn't mind it, guess that is why I play civilization revolution on the ps3 so much. I don't mind DC, but the comic I read as a kid was Garfield and Snoopy. What do you guys think of this code rubbish EA and now some others are doing, Personally I think its just greedy, as if they don't make enough money as it is, but now if you want to buy a 2nd hand game and play online you have to fork out more money to do so is just pure greed. I am surprised more companies are doing it, I can understand EA they suck and only care about a quick buck and not QA. Quote

It's not like they need to make more servers since there's only one used copy being circulated between consumers. Quote
DarthSion Posted January 27, 2011 Author Posted January 27, 2011 Well another worst kept secret, NGP, Next Generation Portable gaming, the next "PSP", with both out dated Wifi and 3G support. Do like the look of it, and the dual sticks. 50 bucks its hacked by Xmas. Also announced is PS suite which will let you play some classic psx games on android and other mediums. http://blog.us.playstation.com/2011/01/26/introducing-the-next-generation-of-portable-gaming/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+PSBlog+%28PlayStation.Blog%29 Also firmware 3.56 is out, with a ton of new features everyone has been asking for, no of course not just another worthless update that is doomed to once again fail at dealing with hacked ps3.
