Do I have to download Playstation Home to use these? Besides, I have no idea what they are for or what you are talking about, so I'll do some research. Quote
DarthSion Posted April 3, 2010 Author Posted April 3, 2010 Home is a 3d chat thing, you can walk around play games and talk to people, its not a big download, however it holds allot of space, 3gigs i believe, and yes you need to download him first. Quote

Oky Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 So... Anyone excited for "Move"? I kinda am. This motion control thing has so much potential, but Nintendo aren't even touching it. In fact, there are barely any good games for the Wii. I'm sure Sony will do a better job, and I must say, Heroes on the Move sounds great! I hope they don't screw that one up as it's Jak's PS3 debut. Oh, and if you like Mass Effect, check this out! Quote
RileyC Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I think with motion controllers, Nintendo probably has it better. Sure Play Station has more precise controllers but I don't think that really matters. I only see them for fun games not super serious games like Mass Effect where they have devout followers that will just rant about how terrible the motion controllers are. I have a Wii and a PS3 and I like them for different reasons. I play the Wii because it has fun games were you can just pick up and play. Play Station has the bigger developers making more in depth games which need precise controls which the motion controllers dont give you. Nintendo havent really caught on to the motion controller either even though its one of its main attractions. However I think Super Mario Galaxy does get it right with pointing the remote at the screen and shaking it. Is anyone interested in Infamous 2? It looks alright seems to have a few more features in it but I absolutely hate how they changed Cole completely. If they wanted a new character just make a whole new character instead of just rehashing him. I do hope that climbing on buildings becomes a bit more challenging because I found it just so easy and some button combos or moves while climbing would be nice. Quote
DarthSion Posted July 16, 2010 Author Posted July 16, 2010 Your joking right, putting aside my hate for the gutless undercut outdated tech urine slang sounding name, the wii stuff is no where near as accurate at the ps3 version, the 360 suffers badly from lag, and hello M$ ever heard of a thing called controllers, sony will be far better for this type of stuff. Im not that interested yet, the only game i will be curious about is heroes on the move, just cos im a huge ratchet and clank fan, however its not being made by insomniac, nor are the other characters being done by their owners, its being done by 3rd party, and after the disaster that was the psp R&C clank games im massively hesitant, and too be honest im disappointed sony followed M$ and jumped on this motion garbage, and would focus on giving better stuff for hardcore gamers instead of pandering to the kids, although i can understand it as they tend to be a scapegoat for fat kids instead of blaming the lazy parents for letting the kids play games all day. I will admit im curious to see how a star wars game would go on the move, but most of the other stuff like bowling, come on just go to the lane and be done with. Did any of you guys sign up for the PSN+, i got a 3 month subscription to see how it goes, it has some good potential if they support it, well to be exact if they support the EU well, as it gets the short end of the stick for content. Oh for anyone who might not know, no official word on which systems, but there are cross platform new games coming from a company working with odd world inhabitants to bring new games to current gen consoles, so one would assume ps3 and 360 as both played host to previous games, remember Abe's Oddysee from the psx. I love my PS3, but the 360's controllers were far superior. Much better control, better trigger, and feels more comfortable (i guess thats subjective). Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I've owned all the Sony console (except the handhelds). Anyone gotten any Platinums? I've had the good greace to get two this month, Assassins Creed 2 and Lego Harry Potter: Years 1 -4. Both were really enjoyable to get, too! Your joking right, putting aside my hate for the gutless undercut outdated tech urine slang sounding name, the wii stuff is no where near as accurate at the ps3 version, the 360 suffers badly from lag, and hello M$ ever heard of a thing called controllers, sony will be far better for this type of stuff. No its just that the wii is targeting the casual gamer while the PS3 targets the hard core fan and followers. I don't think Play Station will be able to please the hard core gamers because I think it wont be a precise as they have made it out to be. Quote
DarthSion Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Most of the games for the move are kiddy/chick games, hardly call it hardcore gamer stuff, and the wii if you move it too fast it just dies and doesnt register moves, the move will be more accurate than that, not that it matters its all just kiddy/chick stuff like the wii anyway. Commander Assassin Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 I'll (hopefully) be getting a PS3 in a little bit, and I'm looking mostly for any type of shooter (preferably T rated), do you have any suggestions? Here's a list of games I'm thinking about, tell me if you think they're any good or not. PS3 games: MAG HAWX (I might get a flight stick if I buy this game) Lord of the Rings: Conquest 007: Quantum of Solace Call of Duty 3 Ghost Recon 2: Advanced Warfighter Fracture Ratchet and Clank Future (either one) PS2 games: (I'm hoping for a backwards compatible PS3) SOCOM: Combined Assault Call of Duty: World at War Final Fronts Quote
RileyC Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Sorry Clone Commander Assassin, the current PS3 isnt backwards compatible. I know its completely stupid because I have so many neglected PS2 games that I love that I just dont play because of the wired controllers really. The only backwards compatible PS3 was the first one and they were really quick to take it out. Its disappointing and I wish they added PS2 games into the classics section of the Play Station Store. (Im hoping for the old Spyros to appear on the store ) Quote
hewkii9 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 LOTR; Conquest is not a game I'd recommend, even cheap - the campaign is laughably short [something like 4 hours for both campaigns], there's not much in the way of customizing Instant Action games, and the multiplayer servers have been shut down, I believe. It does have 2-player splitscreen, though. You can get Mercenaries 2 for the same price or cheaper [they're both Pandemic games, but Mercs 2 is older], though. I would recommend that. It's rough around the edges, but the voice acting is hilarious at times [Peter Stormare as a main character], the world is pretty big, there's a staggering number of vehicles and weapon types [plus airstrikes, though they're not all useful] and it has the floatiest motorbike physics I've ever seen. I don't know if its co-op servers still work. I'm pretty sure Just Cause 2 is M, but get that if you can. It's pretty much the largest open world game on consoles, has a good variety of vehicles and weapons [plus some free/paid DLC] and the grapplechute. Quote
DarthSion Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 The only way to get a backwards compatible ps3 is to go to ebay and pay more than you would for a new ps3 and a new ps2. No its smart that sony has removed BC, this way people then pay more money for the future coming HD games, like GoW and sly cooper collection. Personally i would recommend all 3 ratchet and clank games, as well as the lego games, although lego indi 2 was poorly done, and hairy plooper is lame. If anyone missed it, the new PSN+ games are out in the EU and US, and this months is garbage. Quote
hewkii9 Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 I'd say just get Lego Indy 1 or The Complete Saga. Those are probably the best Lego games, in my opinion. Quote
Commander Assassin Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 Sorry Clone Commander Assassin, the current PS3 isnt backwards compatible. I was planning on buying a used one on ebay. The only way to get a backwards compatible ps3 is to go to ebay and pay more than you would for a new ps3 and a new ps2. I was planning on buying it used; you can get one for under $200 usually (I do already have a PS2, but my family mostly uses it as a dvd player) Personally i would recommend all 3 ratchet and clank games There's three RaC games for PS3? I know of Tools of Destruction and Crack in Time, is there another? Quote
DarthSion Posted August 7, 2010 Author Posted August 7, 2010 First it was tools of destruction, then a downloadable 4 level game called quest for booty, although you can get it on disk, i got it on disk cos i am a collector, and then a crack in time. QFB was a short fill in game, but i still thought it was worth it, but then i own all 7 games (4 ps2, 3 ps3). If you like racing, wipeout HD is good, or not sure what to get, the PSN+ isnt bad, and rather cheap, i got the Aussie 3 month subscription which is just the EU version. And yes PSN is still free, PSN+ is optional, but i got it as i didnt have wipeout HD, although you wont be able to get that. Quote

DarthSion Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 Does the BC PS3 play HD games?? Sorry was trying to do to many things yesterday, the old BC ps3 plays all games, all ps3 are the same, it will also do 3d games if the firmware is up to date. I just meant if you get PSN+ it was only the first month you get wipeout free, and it was only for the EU, you can still buy it, oh and its pretty good game. I still advise against getting a BC PS3, while i see the interest in using it to play ps2 games, the older version are higher risk of YLoD (yellow light of death), and if anything happened you would have to pay to fix it. DarthSion Posted August 8, 2010 Author Posted August 8, 2010 (edited) No worries, i tend to know a fair bit so if you need help, just ask here. While its not said what the new game is going to be when it is announced by insomniac (due to be announced between now and US labour day weekend 6.9.10), it seems there is more ratchet and clank being made. Theres a shocker, given their golden egg laying goose makes sense they would do another one, plus the last one left it open they would make at least one more to get ratchet to his family. I just hope he gets the hover boots to keep, and they dont have the stupid flying to moons stuff. http://www.qj.net/qjnet/news/insomniac-working-on-more-ratchet-clank.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+qj%2Fps3+%28QJ.NET+-+PlayStation+3%29 Edited August 8, 2010 by DarthSion Quote

I can't wait! On another note, has anyone heard of the new Medal of Honor game? Is anyone planning on buying it? I am looking forward to when it hits shelves, and I think I might buy the Assault Rifle controller to play with it. The controller looks promising, and would be even better if it is compatible with old ps3/ps2 games. I am also looking forward to the new addition to the Ghost Recon series, which would be Tom Clancy's Future Soldier. Is anyone else excited for that? Quote
