Anio Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 (edited) Ah, it is always nice to have friends on the inside. You are very fortunate to have been able to acquire this set so early. The rest of us may have to wait months in agony. If only I was an SeTechnic member.....Did Peek et Poke also have the other new models, or only the 8043? In case, congratulations again on your acquisition and the excellent and thorough review. No, He don't have the other sets yet. I will contact him to know when he will have them, and when he will have again the 8043. edit @ efferman : the right one. ;) Edited May 24, 2010 by Anio Quote
efferman Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 edit @ efferman : the right one. ;) thanks damn, no new steering part for my small offroaders Quote
Siegfried Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Yes, I made it. It's very good. Lucky you! the french people are very proud on their language. they would never use english EB member number 1, Jipay, is French... Quote
efferman Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 EB member number 1, Jipay, is French... really? oh exceptions confirm the rules, again but anyway we are all lego Users. i dont care which nationality the people have. Quote
tomacwhite Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 (edited) That looks AMAZING, gotta buy that model!! I love how you can spin the tracks around in 360 degrees but the body stays still, how on earth does that work? Impressive!! I am looking forward to the crane, its just a shame it doesn't have an engine in the set. The B Model of the excavator looks brilliant too, will tempted to double-dip to have them both along side 8275 :D The motorbike B model looks brilliant, but what one earth is 8052? It looks rubbish and rather lazy. Edited May 25, 2010 by tomacwhite Quote
allanp Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 Thankyou for this amazing review. I'm gonna pass on buying the excavator tho. Quote
Milan Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 I love how you can spin the tracks around in 360 degrees but the body stays still, how on earth does that work? The operator drives one track forward, the other track backward...that way the tracks rotate in place, together with the body. The operator at the same time engage the motor that drive rotation of the superstructure (body), and then it looks like the body stand still while tracks rotate around. Something similar can be seen on the tanks, while the turn around the corner, while the turret with the cannon rotate at the opposite way, targeting fixed target, creating the illusion of being still. I thought that was how. That's pretty damn impressive, it must be fairly complex with lots going through the superstructure. Quote
Siegfried Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Something similar can be seen on the tanks, while the turn around the corner, while the turret with the cannon rotate at the opposite way, targeting fixed target, creating the illusion of being still. Many tanks can do that automatically once a target is set. It's relatively simple to do; I used to work on a radar that had a gyro stabilised antenna so it always pointed out level to the horizon regardless of pitch and/or roll. Quote
flyz Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 The B Model of the excavator looks brilliant too, will tempted to double-dip to have them both along side 8275 :D You've read my mind. I think I'll get one set first and build both to see if I can do without either model (Probably not :D) Quote
Jetro Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Great video and review. Many thanks! As for the language, we all speak LEGO, and it is good to be reminded every once in a while that English isn't the only language in the world :D with such clear pictures very little is lost even without the words and Google (or yahoo or babelfish or .. take your pick) will be more than adequate for those who didn't do their homework at school. It is one thing to write in English on a forum and quite another to write/translate articles that fit with the quality of the images in English (believe me, I'm in charge of editing the translations for Hispabrick Magazine and sometimes it takes almost as much time to translate than to write the original article.) vmln8r Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 Oh wow, it's fantastic! I've just watched the video. Thanks so much for the review Anio The music is perfectly suited to the model. I'm really excited about 8043 and the future of Technic. This model in particular looks as wonderful as many of the great flagships from the 90's. Quote
dr_spock Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 Nice review. I still have my old French-English dictionary. I hope it will be sold in this country unlike the 8258 Crane Truck. Quote

CP5670 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 (edited) This set never interested me much since I have 8421, but I like that alternate model. A dockside container crane is something we have never had before in Technic. Edited June 17, 2010 by CP5670 Quote

Balrog Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 That Excavator looks awesome. If it weren't that expensive, I'd get it. Perhaps I will anyway. Quote

Marckeyh Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 The excavator is expensive, as expected. I'll wait till I see some sales around xmas. Quote
tomacwhite Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 It sounds from the descriptions that secondary instructions are included with the model (all of the new ones) instead of them being online only. Quote
Anio Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 It sounds from the descriptions that secondary instructions are included with the model (all of the new ones) instead of them being online only. Wrong. Sure. Quote
