Bob Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 (edited) Rather than building another Star Destroyer or X Wing, I decided to build a smuggling ship. Now, before you say, "It's too blocky, work on that." I was going for the blocky effect, mostly because it's a carrier. The ship can carry five tons of cargo, and a smaller one man ship. Named after the electricity sucking animal from Episode 5, The Mynock is manned by two people, a husband and wife smuggling team. The smaller fighter can also come apart into three pieces to go on the walls if more storage space is needed. It has one engine, and goes at a slow speed. Pictures: Once again, please do not say anything about the square shape...Unless it is good things. The back, and engine area. Interior. Bridge. The team of two. The kitchen, cargo storage, and a bed. Must be a small load today. The engines, and where the fighter pieces go on one side. Blade Class Starfighter. Cargo bay without the smaller ship in it. Forresto Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Great interior and characters! But I do think that you could make the exterior less boxy. That's just my opinion however. Quote
Dutch Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 What this needs is Outside details but the inside is not bad. keep working on it your getting there. Quote
Bob Posted August 29, 2009 Author Posted August 29, 2009 Thanks for the responses. Great interior and characters! But I do think that you could make the exterior less boxy. That's just my opinion however. Thanks! I was going for a boxy exterior, since it's a cargo ship. What this needs is Outside details but the inside is not bad. keep working on it your getting there. The sides of it need details, I'll agree with you there, however the top of the ship has plenty on it. It's only in WIP Stage, so expect a part two another time. Quote
Buckshot Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 For my two cents, I think it'd look cooler with a couple of side-mounted engines, like Serenity from the Firefly show. Some landing gear would also help, but as this is a WIP you probably already have that in mind. Thanks for sharing-- Quote
Rocky Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 The Mynock looks pretty good. It does look a little bulky and square but I think it works for this ship. Good job The interier looks good and I really like how you positioned the controls. The pictures are a bit dark so it is a bit hard to see though. The white curved piece on the top of the ship looks a bit out of place but other than that you have a good moc there. Quote
Torax Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 I can't help but saying that the exterior should be less boxy. I know you didn't want to hear it, but I had to say it. It could also use a more solid colour scheme. The interior is the best part of this! But it could also use a bit more detail... Don't give up! Quote
CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 It is good (I'm saying don't scrap it yet) just work on the outside to make it more 'rounder' and less 'plain' to achieve a perfect MOC as the inside is roomy & great. Quote
KimT Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 It's a start, but as other mentioned, you need to 'greeble' it and it needs a lo of work i my opinion. You've got a 'base' size and now the challenge arises - to modify it into an awesome ship. For example look at this: Here you can see a lot of effort in adding greeble and design to the ship. You need to do the same to yours. You might even consider wether or not to have the ship's hull made of bricks rather than plates. The bricks make the hull wide and enhance the 'b' in bulky. Also where's the engine? What drives this baby? Quote
RileyC Posted August 30, 2009 Posted August 30, 2009 Its a great start but I also think that the ship is too boxy. If you added some detail on the outside then it would look better. I dont think you would need to change anything inside, the interior is great . Great work Bob the Construction Man! Quote
Bob Posted August 30, 2009 Author Posted August 30, 2009 The engines, and where the fighter pieces go on one side. Thanks for the reference picture, I'll use that for the final result. Quote
