Captain Blackmoor Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I have a dog, and it has chewed on several bricks already. Now I have my LEGO collection upstairs, where the dog won't come. My LEGO is safe now, except for flying dogs coming through the window. Lucky enough the dog didn't chew on valuable bricks, just some red plates... Quote
TeddiGramz Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 When my sister first got her dog Sarah, she chewed on everything. After a few months she rarely chewed anything. But one day I showed my brand new Imperial Inspection set to a friend, and I set it down on a table. I left for a few minutes, and when I came back, Sarah had eaten the entire left wing. I was livid. Here's a picture of the troublemaker: Oh, and we took care of a neighbor's dog for a week, and he peed on my Lego, which was upstairs in my room away from him. Quote

Cute dog though. Quote
Tyleraf Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I have never had a problem with my cats chewing on my legos. Just wacking minifigs and plants under furniture Quote
YG-49 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 (edited) You should wish you had a cat. Cat's are loving... And friendly (Not too friendly like dogs) And treat your LEGO with respect... Err.... Getting a little off topic there. My cat obliterated a Count Dooku minifig when I was out of my room for 5 minutes!! That enough proof for ya? Edited September 10, 2009 by YG-49 Quote
Rick Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Gold fish tend to leave LEGO untouched as well... although they must be looking forward to the new Atlantis theme. Quote
Brickmaster Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 I know a family where the dog eats their legos. Their favorite story is of the time he gobbled up afew star wars figures, and then he pooped them out whole the next day, also adding in they wished it was Han Solo. (Hey, wait a second, that's not carbonite!) Quote

You should get an Atlantis impulse set and put it in the tank I know a family where the dog eats their legos. Destroydacre Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Cats can definitely be a pain when it comes to Legos. I have 2 and they both love to walk through the Lego sets I have on display if I leave the door open. They're both long hairs, so the sets get covered in hair. Several years ago, one of my cats climbed up on top of a bookcase and jumped onto my UCS Star Destroyer that I had just finished on a card table below and she shattered it. Thankfully, neither of them sprays in the house, so I don't have to worry about that. My aunt has a German Shepard who got a hold of a yellow goblet in one of my sister's HP sets. It's still usable, but it has a nice ding in it. Quote
Stealth Hunter Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 Thats a sad story, a friend of mine has had the exact same problem. I'm glad I have a cat. The only thing it ever does to my Lego is jump into the boxes of freshly aquirred sets, mosly while I'm still building them. Quote
muffinman42 Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 get a gold fish, if it trys to get at your lego it will die. or just dont have a pet! Quote
Batbrick Posted September 15, 2009 Posted September 15, 2009 I love my cat Smokie, always have loved cats more than dogs, given that I respect cunning, intelligence and cleanliness more than playfulness and blind loyalty. But my Lego story with pets was a near heartstopper when, since my cat follows me everywhere, while I was setting up my post-apoc finale she walked through it. For those unfamiliar, this was my scene: This had approximately figures able to be knocked down, and she gracefully walked right through it, paused for about ten seconds in the center, then turned around and exited near where she entered. And she only knocked down 1 figure, and that was my fault for making a noise that distracted her. To the Brickmobile! Quote
Errorist Posted September 18, 2009 Posted September 18, 2009 I own one dog and 4 cats. Apart from shedding a lot of hair the dog doesn't pose a threat to my collection. The cats are a different matter though. Not only do they lose more hair but they also like to check out my MOC. One of them literally pulled it to the ground. Quite an achievement considering the MOC weighed over 5 kilos (about 10 pounds) and was placed on a very stable surface. Let this be a reminder to everyone who owns a cat. Never leave a short piece of string hanging out of your MOC, not even half an inch Errorist Quote
