HumanPackMule Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Walk into Wal-mart. Walk into a Grocery store. Look at what people buy. Just watch. How often do you see them pick up what is the supposed popular main brand? You don't. You see them pick up the shitty store brand. Because they have no choice but to get it. They would love to get Fruity Pebbles, but they have to get the cheap Frooty Rocks instead. And Frooty Rocks will sell more because it is cheap, but deep down it isn't popular among the crowd. This is exactly why sales cannot prove popularity. I assume you live in an area where people are really cheap?I like nothing and everything. I defend everything and I offend everything. I am in the middle. I am openminded and I don't take sides.then why have you been argueing this whole time? Just like you guys managed to not prove Lego is more popular than MB? I'm still waiting on the official poll statistics here. You only say Lego is popular cuz yeah, duh, you like Lego and this is a Lego forum. If I went to a Marvel forum, I'm gonna hear that Marvel is better than DC. However if I went to the latter's forum, they will say that Marvel sucks. And they will have these same discussions and "prove me this" crap. Can you show us a Megablocks forum? Quote
Omicron Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I assume you live in an area where people are really cheap? Are we going to play to assuming game? Cuz I can assume a lot of things about you. Never assume. then why have you been argueing this whole time? I haven't whipped out my arguing face yet. I am merely discussing. Can you show us a Megablocks forum? Why for? I see no reasoning to bring it into the playing field. -Omi Quote

I know they weren't years ago, but they are now, which means that price is not a factor in this debate. Also, the cereal comment is rather silly, as generic brands often taste just as good as the more expensive brands. I would know, because my mom buys generic brands all the time. This statement is biased and opinionated, so I am gonna take it like a grain of salt. And also I never once stated nor implied that MB is more popular. I just said you can't prove that lego is more popular. Care to explain why? Also, it seems that, through your line of reasoning, you technically can't prove anhything. Which may be true, but can't you at least admit that there is a lot of evidence that Lego is more popular than Megabloks? Because that at least is true, even if it doesn't totally prove it. Can you show us a Megablocks forum? Last time I checked, there was a total of one Megabloks forum, with about five active members. Compare this to the dozens of lego forums, with tens of thousands of active members. Now tell me Omi - from this data alone, which theme would you think has a bigger and more diverse fanbase? You are honestly going to tell me that store brand Fruity Pebbles taste better then real Fruity Pebbles? :P Have a bowl and you'll see. Care to explain why? Also, it seems that, through your line of reasoning, you technically can't prove anhything. Which may be true, but can't you at least admit that there is a lot of evidence that Lego is more popular than Megabloks? Because that at least is true, even if it doesn't totally prove it. Read it. You are saying that I can never even argue the point that Mega Bloks is better than Lego. A Lego fan on a lego forum is telling me this. I am a fan of FF, so I will always say you can never tell me nor prove that Halo is way better than FF. And what evidence? Sales? Search results? I can do the same with Green Day and The Beatles. The Beatles Results 1 - 10 of about 34,900,000 for the beatles. (0.06 seconds) Green Day Results 1 - 10 of about 171,000,000 for green day. (0.11 seconds) Looks like The Beatles really do suck, despite the fact that here and here they are ranked top on the list of the Greatest Bands Ever (second and first respectively on the lists) Also I'm sure you pay attention to GregF once in awhile on BZP, especially when he himself has even stated that Mega Brands have been doing well, even at the point where they were even top of the game. Last time I checked, there was a total of one Megabloks forum, with about five active members. Compare this to the dozens of lego forums, with tens of thousands of active members. Now tell me Omi - from this data alone, which theme would you think has a bigger and more diverse fanbase? And this proves what? You cannot prove just with forums that Lego has a bigger and diverse fanbase. Not the entire fanbase uses the internet. Did you know that with all the members on BZP, it still only makes up a small fraction of Bionicle's total fanbase? And with this evidence, you are saying that Mega Bloks only has a total of 5 fans. I am a fan, and I am not a member of that forum. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy, but I am not a member of Squeenix's forum. I am a fan of Bionicle, but I am not a member of BZP. -Omi Edited September 7, 2009 by Omicron Quote

You'd have better luck trying to convince a Bostoner that the Yankees are better. And what evidence? Sales? Search results? I can do the same with Green Day and The Beatles. The Beatles Results 1 - 10 of about 34,900,000 for the beatles. (0.06 seconds) Green Day Results 1 - 10 of about 171,000,000 for green day. Have you read the recent news about their(megabrands) sales are floundering whereas Lego is remaining at the top?And this proves what? You cannot prove just with forums that Lego has a bigger and diverse fanbase. Not the entire fanbase uses the internet. The amount of Lego fans to members on Lego forums and the number of Megablocks fans to members on Megablocks forums is proportional. Omicron, if you continue with this arguement, you're gonna burn a lot of bridges. Quote
Omicron Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 (edited) He never said they were better. Just the same He did actually. Reread his statement. "as generic brands often taste just as good as the more expensive brands." Also anyone who knows their cereals would know that generic and main are not the same since they don't follow the same formula. First of all, this is a Lego forum. Where most members are against Megablocks. You'd have better luck trying to convince a Bostoner that the Yankees are better. Umm ok? I wasn't even trying to say MB was better anyways, so what is your point? Keep in mind the Beatles have been around longer and most(if all) discussion/news about them. Then they should have more search results then! Have you read the recent news about their(megabrands) sales are floundering whereas Lego is remaining at the top? Was it posted here? I thought this was a Lego forum. And economy fluctuates. Of course I can always bring up the time when Lego nearly went out of business a couple years ago. In this day and age most people have computers. The amount of Lego fans to members on Lego forums and the number of Megablocks fans to members on Megablocks forums is proportional. Most, but not everyone. And it isn't proportional. Like I said about BZP, which has over 40,000 members all international, still only makes up a small fraction of Bionicle's total fanbase. Because not all fans are members of their respective forums. I gave myself as an example, but of course you didn't read it. Omicron, if you continue with this arguement, you're gonna burn a lot of bridges. Not sure what that means, nor do I care. Unless you intended it as a threat. And this isn't an argument. Thats a common misconception with you kids these days. It is just a simple debate that was caused by biased opinions. I only came into it because I don't like bias nor bigotry. -Omi Edited September 7, 2009 by Omicron Quote
Zarkan Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 He did actually. Reread his statement. "as generic brands often taste just as good as the more expensive brands." Also anyone who knows their cereals would know that generic and main are not the same since they don't follow the same formula. You just showed that what Arthas said was right. As good =/= better, and the same =/= they use the same formula. I meant what I said, which was that generic brands often taste about the same as the expensive brands, even though they use different formulas. But seriously, I'm not going to even argue any longer. It's obvious that nothing I or anyone else you say is going to change your opinion, and nothing you say is going to change mine, so let's just end this conversation and go back to discussing the original topic subject - Disney buying Marvel. Peppermint_M Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 Wildcard Entry! C3 made better DC sets than Lego, Lego basicly wasted the Batman one while C3 made some pretty awesome sets, along with Superman sets. I still stand by my statement that Lego should make their own superhero theme with a triumphant return for Super Station Master! Quote
