Zzz Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 The upgrade is way too huge for what it can offer. I was really surprised how big it was. And how many mistakes it has. Minifig torsos and heads? Is there going to be an upgrade for printed parts? Or will it be 80mb big? Then I guess I will say thanks a lot. Quote
cagri Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 Hi all, I have been talking to LDD/Designbyme reps and you may find some answers here: I´m sorry we do not have all elements included in our other palettes, I will not guarantee anything, but there´s a chance we will get quite a huge palette when we start including the Universe. So there is a chance we'll get more parts to build in LDD. Though it doesn't mean they'll be available for sale through PAB or Designbyme. The pricing is an issue we hear a lot about. However those who know what´s included in the making of the sets get a better understanding of the reason we have included our Service Fee. Custom Design byME sets have all their bricks handpicked, then placed in a custom made box with a high quality render of your model. About the 10 USD fee ... I can understand the frustration your group has provided you with when it comes to the unavailable bricks. I have seen it in action myself, and therefore know it can be quite easy to navigate away from the Design byME palette (which is the palette containing the bricks you can actually purchase). We will need to find a way to solve this in the future, to make it more clear at all times whether you´re building sets you can buy or not. There is however a very helpful new function in LDD 3.0 that helps you easily locate, then replace or simply remove the non buyable bricks. In case you add bricks you can't buy through Designbyne Regarding the building instructions for the 30 alternative train models we are working on developing some .pdf´s that we plan to include on the consumer service web-site. LEGO Factory ahd the alternate instructiosn for the hobby train and when Factory was shtu down those instructiosn were lost. I guess they'll be published as pdfs some time soon :) Quote
Rufus Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I've used LDD v3 a little over the last few days. It doesn't seem a whole lot better to me. There are good points; the ability to reduce the size of the bricks in the brick palette (so there are more on the screen at one time) is useful, for one example. However, the new virtual baseplate is distracting, and for some reason when I press E (the shortcut for dElEtE), a message flashes up saying something like 'all bricks are available from DesignbyMe' ot similar, and I have to use the icon to delete. A model that would cost about £10 from PaB was priced at £33. Anyone know where I can get MLCAD? Quote

wooootles Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 About the 10 USD fee ... LDD/DesignByMe is certainly exorbitant, but somewhere down the road I'd like to get one set (i.e. A small CITY car model) and get all the custom box and instructions and all that. What should cost me about $16 in online PaB is around double in DesignByMe, but what the heck. Quote
Legoist Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 How many people have actually used Factory/DesignedByMe? With the incredibly limited selection of bricks and the high costs, I see no reason to use this service. Quote
