Corvus Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Joined before the introduction of the age limit... I'm 13... Wich has surprised some...Mr Tiber Wow... There seem to be A LOT of ppl under 18.I personally didn't even really read the user agreement when i signed :-$ But i figured it was common sense stuff like no name calling or bad language, no inappropriate links or pics, etc. Just from what i've observed: It's seems to be a lot easier for ppl under 18 to get banned. Main thing i think is to do what admin and mods tell you on forum behavior when they feel you aren't behaving properly. Reason being is that it's not a democracy here and you don't have a right to be here. But on the flip side: I like reading about all the replies of ppl from all sorts of ages, from 11 yr. olds to 38 yr. olds X-D P I read it, but I told myself that it's all common sense, actually think about your posts, and you'll do all right. Personally, I got tired of BZP. I found EB first while browsing for new sets, and I read the board for a few months, then decided to join. I was about to join, and read "You MUST be over 18 to join". Discouraged, I didn't join and went to join BZP instead. After a month or two there, I got sick of it. There are too many kids posting illegible comments, and I just didn't feel like part of a community. During this, I was still browsing EB. I noticed that the members here all seemed to know each other, and I often stayed up late at night reading topics about TLC's quality problems, etc., and all the members were posting intelligent, thought out posts. So, I joined. And I love EB. I'm fifteen, sixteen next month. Quote

john cleese Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 (edited) I hope this doesnt inflate his ego too much but I was surprised to see that lego 2000 or chuck's only 13 years old. He builds like some of the best afols on brickshelf and puts guys like me to shame. I am 16 myself, i think i joined before the rule. At any rate its not a particularly fair rule, especially since it cant be effectively enforced. Some of our best members are under 18 and they can obviously conduct themselves in the mature manner eurobricks expects them to. I could see many of our members ending up on the horrid official lego site forums unable to have a spam free lego discussion and get the underground news we get here on EB frequently. To me a spammer is a spammer not someone who is under 18. Thats just discrimination. The ironic thing about this rule is anyone who would actually take it seriously shows a sign of maturity by doing so. Those who come here with the intention of creating spam will obviously ignore it. In all my time on this board i have seen few spammers, certainly not an overwhelming number. Edited September 19, 2007 by john cleese Quote
Scouty Posted September 19, 2007 Posted September 19, 2007 But the 18+ rules turns away any person willing to not go past it, who would most likely be very young children. Quote

Scouty Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Oh and i curse alot. :-P That doesn't really make you more mature, I would think the opposite, in fact. Quote
Lord Beckett Posted September 21, 2007 Posted September 21, 2007 Perhaps he meant "curse" in the sense of "lay a curse upon" as in The Curse of the Black Pearl. Shakar is not the only wizard after all... :-D Quote
hollisbrick Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 13, not much space to put lego, want my own place! I know what you mean i'm 13 to and running out of room |-/ I only buy $10-$30 SETS NOW BECAUSE ANYTHING ABOVE IS TO BIG Quote
Corvus Posted September 26, 2007 Posted September 26, 2007 That doesn't really make you more mature, I would think the opposite, in fact. That means half of my high school population is five years old or younger. |-/ Quote
