The Green Brick Giant Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Considering we will never actually be able to buy them I'm happy none of them are that great. However the Steam Roller is quite neat. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Thank you very much for these pictures, Alywin and whung! The steam roller looks too much <insert that tiresome argument>. The police boat is ok - but imo a bit too small for that kind of boat. The doctor's car looks very well designed - but somehow it doesn't fit that it is a doctor's car. It should better be some sort of service or repair car. The fireman's car looks great! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Ratshot Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 These sets have a real classic feel to them. They remind me of the City them back in the 80's. First off, I like the Doctors Car but it looks to much like a go-kart. 7/10 The only problem with the Fire Car is that I don't see any racks for the estingusher. 8/10 The Police boat and the Steam Roller are both perfect. Both receive an 10/10. I'm going to buy all of these for sure Quote
Rick Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 The only problem with the Fire Car is that I don't see any racks for the estingusher. There appears to be a 2 x 2 x 2 container ('post box') in the back of the vehicle. Quote
The Cobra Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Yes, there is. Instructions show that you have to split the extinguisher into the two parts it's made of. Quote
legotrainfan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 [...] and the police boat has the fence piece in the back. We haven't seen these parts in forever. I wonder why they are using them again. The fence piece has been used in the recent past: 8654 Scuderia Ferrari Truck (2005), 7904 City Advent Calendar 2006, 7994 City Harbor (2007). Just to name a few sets. As for the promo sets, I only like 30003 Steam Roller! A must-get! Quote
Lord Admiral Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 In a word: retro. Nice. I like all three. The doctor's car is the worst, and the steamroller is the best, but they're all still awesome. It'd be great it TLG released these as regular or even impulse sets. But since they seem to be promotional, it might be too much to ask for. Quote
The Chronicler Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Wacky Races thats all im saying Quote
Darth_Legois Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 I like the first three, They seem so classic-town I love them. Especially the fire one, Without a roof. Brings back memories when LEGO was simpler...and without roof's The little medical one looks like its used for sports games where a player might get injured badly and needs to be driven out but there's no room for a stretcher on the back. Quote
marvinblue Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 30003 Steam Roller I like the look of this promo set. I think it will fit really well with my Construction team. I don't really like the other ones, but I think this one will be a keeper! Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 #30000 would be good for a somewhat tiny town that doesn't have a need for a hospital, because it is too small. Perfect for my town because my minifigures don't get sick much. All it would take is a few minutes of modding. I agree that it does look somewhat bad in it's current form, especially with that ATV part on it. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I'm kind of hoping these might be available in the UK later this year through the daily mail, looking at the set numbers, 30004, 5 and 6 (Star Wars Set) are currently being given away in the UK with a daily newspaper, we can only hope like last year the paper will do these town promos shortly :-) Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Where can I buy these? I think they give them away with newspapers and fast-food items in Europe...? Quote
knockout Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 New lego sets 30000, 30001, 30002, 30003 are available in BL !!! wow Quote
