Emperor Claudius Rome Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) I think some of you might have that one piece that you think is a nice peice, but is generally looked down by most AFOLS and TFOLS. Mine is the KKII sword. I don't care what you think, it's not bulky. Edited September 3, 2009 by WhiteFang Spelling error amended... Quote
cole Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I like BURPs, and would use them quite often if they wern't thought of as "lazy" by others. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I like and use all Lego. Even what little Bionicle I own. I never know why people limit themselves and stop using a certain part because they dont like it. Quote
CP5670 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I like BURPs, and would use them quite often if they wern't thought of as "lazy" by others. I like these too. I would use them frequently if I had more of them. The CRAPPs seen in various 1990s space bases are also decent, or at least not as bad as people seem to think. I don't think any official sets really used that piece well, but it does have potential. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 As I said domewhere I like KKII Big figures torsos. You can build colorfull scorpions with them! Or build demon like I did: Quote
green dewback Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) This piece from http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=4573-1 *edit* Opps, saw the title wrongly. The piece above is the one I dislike. Edited September 4, 2009 by green dewback Quote
brickzone Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Also a fan of BURPs/LURPs - I think the only bad thing about them was back in the late 90s/early 2000s when there were some overpriced sets with large parts like BURPs and not enough bricks for the price. Today's sets you mostly get the quantity of bricks you would expect *plus* BURPs. I'm also quite a fan of Technic in ordinary Lego sets, even if perhaps there were too many Technic parts in Vikings. I find a certain amount of technic handy enough in my own MOCs and I like learning some Technic techniques from System sets considering I wouldn't be interested in the more intricate Technic ones. I find some Bionicle-style parts of use in MOCs too (or at least I have plans), but I wouldn't want to actually purchase Bionicles. There are more than enough such parts in ordinary System sets. The parts I've still untouched are the knuckle/rotating joints - obviously building my own Mechas is one option, but I'd like to find other uses for them. At present I have two entire tubs untouched from Exoforce etc. (one of the ratcheting ones and ones of the ball/socket ones). Quote
HumanPackMule Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I'll use BURPs, those large KKII swords, most bionicle pieces, and just about any other piece most AFOLs hate. Quote
frogstudio Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I like and use BURPS, LURPS and stickers, if you consider the as pieces (and they have been arround since ever, so the discussion about printed vs stickers is useless) Quote
Big Cam Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I don't own a single LEGO piece that I hate or think is invaluable. Quote
Derek Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I love the City mudguard pieces. I know some think that they are "<insert that tiresome argument>" or whatever, but I think they can really add some realism to MOC's, as well as official sets. They also have other creative uses, seen in some official sets, such as the turret in the original SW Clone Battle pack, or as Deck chairs in the 4999 Vestas Promo... -darthperson Quote
legotrainfan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 (edited) Actually I like BURPs and LURPs. I believe they can be very useful when building a mountain. Of course, the mountain shouldn't be built with BURPs and LURPs only. But one BURP here and a LURP there isn't so bad. Edited September 3, 2009 by legotrainfan Quote
Tom Bricks Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 I also like BURP's and LURP's when they are used correctly. They support anything pretty well. I also like baseplates which I have heard are unpopular among some AFOL's. Quote
MrTools Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 The big Wing from the flying wing set. I havent used it for anything yet, hasent been connected to anything after it left the flying wing set. I just like knowing i finaly have one Quote

I also like baseplates which I have heard are unpopular among some AFOL's. I don't think that baseplates are unpopular. In fact, that's pretty much news to me. Raised baseplates on the other hand are less appreciated. It's pretty hard to build a large-scale building without baseplates. I'm also not sure about the whole BURP/LURP thing. I would suggest that most AFOLs actually like BURPS & LURPS. A lot of the distain that comes from fans is not for the piece itself but for the sub-standard sets that are often associated with these bricks. BURPS/LURPS are a great filler piece for building large rock formations at a low cost. While it's true that these bricks are often associated with juniorization and they do take a bit of heat; they are exceedingly common in MOCs and form the foundation of most mountains/cliffs I've seen (even if they are covered over in slopes or other bricks).
