So not long ago, I made a Cloud Strife minifig. People love it. I love it. One of my best works yet.

But I was not satisfied yet. He didn't have a proper Buster Sword. Now you say "Omi, I can clearly see he has a fine Buster Sword and probably the best looking yet". While that may be true, it isn't up to my standards, and here is why. Sword originally came from a set of Final Fantasy Miniature Trading Arts figs, and because of that, the handle was thin, which forced me to put a piece of rubber on it to keep it in a minifig's hand. While it works great for pics, it limited posing and just didn't give me that Lego appeal.

So while I wait until BrickForge or BrickArms get around to making a Buster Sword to make me and the world happy (just kidding guys, you all rock), I took the liberty to make one for myself to replace my "stand in" Buster Sword.

I took a sword from a Trio set (Fisher Price's version of Lego), which I just bought today afte seeing the sword. Cut the right spots to give it that Buster shape. Pictured is the original sword compared to the "stand in" Buster Sword and the new modified one.

"Bustin' makes me feel good."

Now while I am completely satisfied with the fact that I can pose Cloud without worrying that the sword will fall, or show the horrid handle while giving it that Lego appeal, I am afraid that the new Buster Sword is not accurate. New sword has 3 indented holes, while the realy Buster Sword has two. But I'll remedy that when I feel like it.

Anyways enjoy.

I couldn't possibly pass this topic without adding my two cents, Final Fantasy VII being my favorite game and all! :classic:

Well done! The hair and sword look really great (Did you make the hair yourself?)! .. This reminds me that I have a half-made Cloud that's been sitting on a shelf for months and months..

Oh, and the gunblade in that first picture looks awesome, too!

The hair came from this. From Kubricks. Also very hard to find, but they have them here if interested. Hair has a peg like thing, so I used my dremel to drill a hole and it fits in nice and tight.

And yes, I remember hearing about your Cloud on BF. maybe this will inspire you to finish it? :D

The fig that originally came with the hair looks so much bigger than a minifig. Did you only have to dremel off the peg, or did you have to dremel down the hair too?

Great mod.

I made a sword with lots of cutting sanding and glue, on a Lego elements.

Trio you say? hmmm Methinks I shall track it down

also: I have those exact figure on my processor in work. they sit there looking cool and showing the office how nerdy I am...

Very cool work! Very, close to the inspiration, and fits the fig as well as the overall aesthetic quite nicely!

Not to get off-topic from your great work here, but unfortunately, like I said at Brickfair, neither Will nor Ian are into fantasy at all, so a Buster Sword-type accessory in all likelihood won't be something you'll see from BrickArms.

Now a Gunblade, THAT'S a different story, as you well know!

Hair is untouched. Just sanded down the stud on the hand and drilled a hole. Hair fits like a helmet.

Ha, not worries dude. My philosphy is that "if they aren't doing it/going to do it, then you might as well try". It is why I make these figs in the first place. :)
