So... Not trying to be the guy who spoils the party, but uhm... Do we have any proper evidence for the return? Few months ago, I was a believer, but shouldn't we have heard more of it by now? Or would it be a summer outing? 'Cause we're already informed on the early 2010 sets of all possible themes and varieties. Maybe there's hope in a summer release?

(Don't get me wrong, I'd -love- to see new Potter sets. That's why I'm asking!)

Well if they just started putting plans down for sets it will take about a year for them to go through the process of planning, sketching, prototypes, revisions, tests, marketability and so on. It might even take longer, so I think the best we can hope for is maybe a late summer or janurary 2011 release. :cry_sad:

I agree with what Forresto said - it takes more than a year to make a regular set.

I still believe that the HP theme will be revived, too. Why would a LEGO Harry Potter game be released without even one LEGO Harry Potter set? Surely the kids who play the game would want to buy some actual toys to go with it?

Edited by ILikePi

I'm cautious. Not majorly into the theme, but it did have wonderful figs and pieces, so if it does come back I'll probably buy some of the smaller ones. Either way it's of no huge concern to me, but for those who do want it back I hope you get what you want.

When I heard about a LEGO Harry Potter game a few months ago it renewed my hopes for a new wave of sets as a tie in with the game. So this news is pretty exciting for me.

I hope this rumor is true. :cry_happy:

I am waiting on the Harry Potter game.. And I would also like to see new lego sets from HP. I missed the "first" lego HP series completely..

  • 2 weeks later...

The game is expected to be released in March, 2010, and there will be over 100 playable characters. Is it coincidental that the game is released in Spring, when The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park will open? And the theme park is also based on years 1 to 4...

Also on the frontpage is the pic of the star wars heads and in the video it says some themes that are all currently out ntil it comes to HP which is dead so they could be hinting a return.

From the petition thread:

November 2010

4736 Dobbys Release

4737 Quidditch Lesson

4738 Hagrids Hut

4840 The Burrows

4841 Hogwarts Express

4842 Hogwarts Castle

I think he lego work.

but the numbers are correct

It's always hard to decipher legomilk's posts, but I think what he is saying is that there is some truth in AllanSmith's list. :sweet:

So, what do you guys think? Are these really upcoming sets? They sound an awful lot like sets we have already seen, most of which several times, except for the burrow of course. But then again, they sound like some good sets to revive the line again. Looking at the standard the Emerald Night and the Medieval Market Village have set, I believe TLC can pull off some amazing redos of these old sets! :cry_happy:

I imagine since the video game is Year 1-4, the sets tie in with that rather than the new film. Hence Dobby's Release again etc.

legomilk's word is good enough for me.

Well they did remake Spongebob sets again with less parts for your dollar. Still it would be nice to finally own some HP sets if they do come out. Maybe another reason for the cancellation of Castle, though there may be some new kingdom theme perhaps....

I really like to believe that these are real.

Im just a little disapointed that they all appears to be rereleases except from the Burrow. Rereleases of Hogwarts, Hogwarts Express and Hagrid's Hut are no surprise though.

Any Harry Potter sets are better than none, so Im keeping my fingers crossed for some wonderfull sets.

Edit:

I just looked up the release date of the next HP movie, and its coming out in November 2010, so perhaps these sets tie in with the new movie?

YAY!

I'm so happy for the confirmation. Looks like LEGO Harry Potter was kept by LEGO's sense of money. Or to get the fans satisfied? It's a bit weird after all the "no we ended the series" and "it's too dark" ... Anyway, I don't care much. I'm very excited. I hope to see pictures soon, but a whole year waiting... :sceptic: Oh, well. It has to be released with the movie, or else it wouldn't get much attention.

Some thoughts about the names:

Dobby's Release: as said, this is going to be a remake of the set we got in 2003. An awesome little set because Dobby was in it. I sure hope they don't redesign Dobby, so it matches with the design we have now.

Quidditch Lesson: also a remake of the lovely set we got years ago. I hope they put in some Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw Quidditch players.

Hagrid's Hut: I have the first Hut, but I think the second is way nicer. So I hope this one will be even better than the second release, so I can get my hands on it. Perhaps with his dog this time?

The Burrow: ah, finely! A few months ago I couldn't wait any longer and I made my own Burrow. I hope it will look design, but with an interior. I wonder how they will make this, because it has to be tall and weird. But with playability? I'm looking forward to this one, I really wonder how LEGO will make it decent.

Hogwarts Express: it will be the second/third version (it depends on the way you look at it) of this famous steam train. I hope LEGO will include the same new wheels as in the Emerald Night. And it would be awesome if they make it an exclusive, if so, it would be designed by a true AFOL.

Hogwarts Castle: the more the merrier? If it includes new figures, yes please.

I'm looking forward to this line. Now I just hope it's all true. :sweet:

I really hope this is true, even if the sets are remakes of those sets we already had. I will certainly buy all of them.

I really like that they choose Dobby's Release and Hagrid's Hut because those were really good sets back in the days (I never got the Hut but I wont miss out this thime).

I'm also looking forward to the Burrows set. Very interesting.

Interesting!

A lot of these sets still have yellow heads and hands, so if they're revived, they will come in fleshies, excellent :cry_happy:

And having The Burrow on LEGO would be awesome too

Thanks for the news, let's hope it's all true now

Greetings,

CF W

If what you are all saying is right then I think 2010 will be one of my favourit years, I just hope we can get some hufflepuffs and ravenclaws in lego, having new sets with dobby in will also be great.

Oh lets's hope so! There are so many characters which have not been made into official figs (Bellatrix, Luna, Mrs Malfoy, Weasley family, must I go on?!)

A Luna figure as well as the Weasely's would just make me . I really hope that these are true! I would probably buy them all!

New HP sets release date in Oct 2010. Did not see any pics but the names look the same as Allansmith's in the trade catalog i peeked at.

I hope that this is true, I have wanted more HP sets for a long time...

We also really need a set with more quidditch guys.

I do believe the original information we got said they were considering re-releasing many of the HP sets.

So it makes sense that they'd just be going with what they've already done, rather than make totally new ones, especially as the reason for stopping the series was because of how expensive they were to make.

But I imagine if these do well, we'll see newer ones in the future.

I'm hoping for a more, er, robust version of Hogwarts. The first version 4709 is the most symbolic of all the castles, but the cheap roof of the Great Hall and the arches/opened spaces need to go. I think the second version 4757 is the best-looking one of all (too bad I couldn't afford it when it was on sale for $60 at Target). The third version 5378 is just too... <insert that tiresome argument>? I mean, there are so many large pieces.

From what I've heard (I talkd to a TLC employee the other day) the sets are primarily updated designs of older sets, so I dont think that we will get exact rereleases.
