Posted September 5, 200915 yr Aw aw aw, I just had the bestest idea ever while discussing Lego with the Walrus...wait for it...an UCS set of the Zeppelin for movie 3. That would be so cool! I say UCS because to get the scale right, it would have to be decently big. And why should Star Wars get all the UCS love? What do all you cool lego lovers think? I eagerly await your input... Edited September 6, 200915 yr by Siegfried the Sinner Changed title to prevent people getting over excited
September 5, 200915 yr It would be a good idea and I would definitely consider buying it if they did make one. Star wars has a lot of things to base USC sets off whereas indy doesn't really have that much its more about the action and building rather than actual vehicles. It would make since to have an indy USC set because Batman had the USC batmobile and the batman theme wasn't as successful as indy in my opinion.
September 5, 200915 yr Author I have to admit, after starting that thread in a gush of girly enthusiasm, I am scratching my head over other Indy candidates for UCS sets. They could do the submarine he hitches a ride on, although the sub doesn't feature that prominently in the movie. Deep down, I just want to see a large scale Zepplin done as a set. Thanks for reminding me about the UCS Batmobile. We got that on sale at Toyworld. It actually looks a lot better "in the flesh", so to speak ("in the brick"?).
September 5, 200915 yr There has been a lot of discussion about the desire for a large scale Indy set. Indeed, I personally would love to see a UCS set in any theme BUT Star Wars. I really wouldn't want to see a UCS vehicle though - we're already vehicled out! I'd much rather they lavish the same attention to detail (and piece count) to some ancient ruins, temple or something like Pankot Palace. Whenever I think zeppelin, I also think this set: It would be interesting to see how they get over the weight problem since bricks are denser than helium!

Deep down, I just want to see a large scale Zepplin done as a set. The sub is a good idea! Seeing they've done armoured cars why not? How about a bust of the fertility idol? ...actually probably not. The tank is a much desired possibility... but I can't see that being done either. Whenever I think zeppelin, I also think this set: Yeah, I really want that one actually. However, when I think Zeppelin, I think of this MOC! It's by no means perfect, but TLG could make something similar for Indy. It's what I had in mind when I was having this conversation!
September 5, 200915 yr I think that UCS is something special made for star wars and I think it should stay with star wars. Everyone has an opinion though and some non-star wars models might turn out nicely made into UCS sets.

September 5, 200915 yr Well I when I saw Zepplin, and UCS, I immedialty thought of Captain Green, Scuse me, Bluehairs Prins Williem Hull: I thought that if Lego could somehow make it smaller and more round, they can clip two sides together, make a balloon, then a small gallery for the people to sit in.
September 5, 200915 yr I would really like to see the opening from raiders done again as a ucs. It could be done and I would buy it.
September 5, 200915 yr Aw aw aw, I just had the bestest idea ever while discussing Lego with the Walrus...wait for it...an UCS set of the Zepplin for movie 3.I had this idea a while back, and started work on one. I was starting on the back 'fins' since aligning the Swastikas looked to be the hardest part. I got almost finished with one 'fin' and basically gave up, because I do not have nearly enough spare parts to build at that scale, and any smaller would have made some things too complicated to keep in proportions. So I just stopped work on it and deemed it a Permanent WIP.By the way, Zeppelin is spelled with two E's. I have to admit, after starting that thread in a gush of girly enthusiasm, I am scratching my head over other Indy candidates for UCS sets.I would love a UCS Tank from The Last Crusade, providing there was a minifig scaled one to go with it.I really wouldn't want to see a UCS vehicle though - we're already vehicled out! I'd much rather they lavish the same attention to detail (and piece count) to some ancient ruins, temple or something like Pankot Palace. The face of the Grail Temple would also be nice, I think. How about a bust of the fertility idol? ...actually probably not. The tank is a much desired possibility... but I can't see that being done either. I don't think that Idol is very suiting for children. Though it would make a good set. A bust of Indy's head/fedora (Like Darth Maul's old bust) would make a great display set.Why don't you think they would make the tank? Because of the whole Military issue?
September 5, 200915 yr As for me, I would love to see a UCS of the desert chase truck, or the flying wing. I think those would make great models, and they were my favorite vehicles from the movies.
September 5, 200915 yr UCS circus train and UCS venice library would be great as well, Both are very big as wel, just as the zeppelin. But both would be nice to have as a regular set as well.
September 5, 200915 yr The idea of a ucs indie set is very appealing but it seems to be a star wars thing only. I got all excited by this topic title because I thought it was news on a ucs set. Oh well, we can hope. Edited September 5, 200915 yr by Big Cam
September 6, 200915 yr Well, it's already mentioned there was a Batman UCS set also. And why should they name it UCS? There are a lot big detailed models without 'ucs' on the box (Model Team, Sculptures, VW Beetle). I think a zeppelin is a great idea. A support stand is neccesary if you want to display it. But if it looks great, and there are enough pieces (not an one piece balloon) there's one more potentional buyer.
September 6, 200915 yr Well I when I saw Zepplin, and UCS, I immedialty thought of Captain Green, Scuse me, Bluehairs Prins Williem Hull: Nice idea, but that'd be really expensive! On the other hand, it could be a good chance to get TLG to make 3x1 tiles... Why don't you think they would make the tank? Because of the whole Military issue? No, more the scale. It'd be too small as a mini-fig set, and probably wouldn't sell well if it wasn't. I got all excited by this topic title because I thought it was news on a ucs set. Fair point. I've change the title; if I get beaten up at home it's your fault.
September 6, 200915 yr If they do make Indy UCS it'll kill my wallet. I might change my terms for collecting Indy if there are alot of them to only collecting non-UCS. If they are made I get a few or all of them. I'd hope they'd include figures and lots of them. I don't know if Indy isready for UCS. I'd get them reguardless unless there are tons of them which isn't likey.
September 6, 200915 yr The only UCS for indy I can really think of is a model of the ark. Or mayby an Indy statue. Kind of like this yoda figure
September 7, 200915 yr IMO, that's too small to be a UCS. Maybe a minifig scale Zepplin could work. It seems bigger than the UCS Batmobile and slightly the same size and other UCS sets. :P And minifig-scale zeppelin? As in the zeppelin from Last Crusade? Are you serious? It would be bigger than this. -Omi
September 7, 200915 yr No, more the scale. It'd be too small as a mini-fig set, and probably wouldn't sell well if it wasn't.Well, I know they would sell at least one. And minifig-scale zeppelin? As in the zeppelin from Last Crusade? Are you serious? It would be bigger than this.Never hurts to hope.
September 7, 200915 yr Never hurts to hope. Just remember that it would be very costly if Lego ever chooses to make such a large beast. And probably a very unwise economic decision. -Omi

They made that UCS Falcon, which is really heavy, and this Zepplin can be hollow, so there would be less mass, which means less pieces, which means lower price. Yes but the Zeppelin is bigger than the Falcon last I checked in terms of actual scale. And it isn't easy to make a large, hollow dirigible of that scale. -Omi
