I was looking at the above concept picture, and picturing some of the drawn buildings as sets. I think that the building (with archway and path/road ) to the immediate right of Cafe Corner would make a very cool set. It would definitely spice up the line and offer something unique.

Another idea that I had was having two thinner buildings (perhaps townhouses or shops, maybe a combination of the two), each on a 16x32 plate, together in a $150 or so set. They could look good on their own, and be divided and put in different spots on a modular building layout.

I totally agree with you. It would be an original addition, specially for doing some kind of interior courtyard with the rest of modular buildings

Another great (on probably cheaper ) idea.

I think another variation of Market Street (same size but with a new colour scheme and architecture) would be a great temporary relief till another another big one ala-Fire-Brigade comes along. Lego, are you listening?

Just got Fire Brigade this weekend for my birthday, perfect gift. :)

I agree with the idea that more Market Street/thinner-style buildings with a lower ($80 or so) price point would be a nice way of continuing the series, with one larger building per year or so as an anchor. I'd love to see some thing boutique-type stores, the usual bank and post office requests, but smaller buildings would be really welcome.

They would loose a lot off money if they didn't continue the series I believe.

As far as I noticed so far, the series brought a lot of adults back to Lego (including me).

I don't care for the prices eventho I'm not rich at all, I still collect them all because they're so impressive and deffinatly worth it.

Everyone, AFOL's or not, young and old that visit my home and sees them is completely speechless for at least 10min. Lego hit the nail on the head with these series, would be a terrible mistake discontinue the series especially with so much ideas and possibilities left!

Yeah, they would look really cool on display. They usually make people speechless because if they have encountered Lego before, they probably never even knew it could make such detailed models.

As far as I'm concerned they can drop the 1930's 'requirement'.

Where on earth did this supposed "requirement" come from anyway? What gave people the idea that there was any sort of time limit other than "modern"? Sure it's an antique style fire truck but my local fire department and volunteers associated with the fire department display antique fire equipment all the time. Heck, we even have a horse-drawn, steam-powered pumper wagon that is fully functional. :classic:

I'd say the 1930's may make a good "start of range" but this line does not have to be limited to one decade nor does it appear to be. The large windows and other details of Cafe Corner make it look very contemporary to me.

I'd like to see one or two 16x32 modular buildings to go inbetween the really big models - this would let a town layout have more variety, and it would open up the modular building series to people with less money. And, since thinner building means less parts, we could get some buildings in really rare colors - sand red antique shop, anyone?

I ordered my first modular building, the Green Grocer (on sale) and will be getting the others as soon as funds permit. I think the idea of thinner buildings to go between the others is great, for the variety and cost benefits

I'd love to see a hospital, bank and post office

I don't think that I will be satisfied until I can build at least an entire block, including:

1.) A library

2.) A post office

3.) An apartment complex (studio apartments, let's be realistic)

4.) A hotel

5.) A re-creation of the house from the movie "Up," including balloons that pop out when the roof opens (I'd be happy if the balloons were made out of lightsaber blades, R2-D2 heads, and size 2 axles [the shortest ones])

Until I get all of those, Lego should never stop making modular houses

I would quite like to see Lego release the sets in 'pack' form - e.g. seperate floors (this could give the oppertunity to buy floors in multiple). just under £100 is a lot of money, even to some AFOLs.

I must be the only person here who is not a huge fan of these sets. I mean, they're nice, but they are not must-have items for me, and I probably won't get any of the ones so far unless I find them at substantial discounts.

On one hand, they have an immense amount of detail and I like how they have much larger and more well enclosed interiors than normal City buildings. However, they have a very old fashioned look that doesn't appeal to me at all. They do look like they are set in the 1930s, or at least like they were built back then. I guess I prefer modern and futuristic things over historical ones in general. The fire station is somewhat better in this respect, leaving aside the fire engine, but it's also the most expensive set of the line so far. This is my other issue with them: given their sizes they are quite expensive, much more so than normal City sets. The piece counts are high but most of those are small parts used for the detailing. I don't mind the prices so much in themselves, but am used to getting much larger models for that kind of money.

You can cross off #4 since the upstairs of the Cafe Corner is a hotel.

I hope they continue the line. I would love to see a few more structures that we wouldn't typically see in the main line. A dental office seems ideal (great opportunity for interior details and it fits in with the mainstreet feel). A hospital would probably be a tad too large, but a doctor's office or clinic would make sense. A pharmacy would also be nice. Anything to keep the line going would be great!

Is it me or is Café Corner discontinued? It seems to be still available in the USA tho.

Anyone know more about it?

Good question! I can't find it on S@H either! If it has been discontinued, I'm pretty fortunate since I ordered it recently when it iwas still available! But it's quite odd to discontinue it now when Christmas isn't so far away any more.

True, it appears to be sold out in Europe. There was an announcement from TLG some time back that they had stopped producing it, so it was only a matter of time before it got sold out. So it was discontinued some time ago already, ... prices for MISB copies should be skyrocketing soon, following the price trend of Market Street after that got sold out on S@H.

I kinda expected it but more towards the start of 2010, so will Green Grocer follow soon?

Another good question, and I hope that a member of this forum will be able to answer it. I haven't bought the Green Grocer yet. I think it'll still be available for a while. At least till spring. Cafe Corner was availlable for two years, and the Green Grocer was released later than Cafe Corner. Also if they discontinued the Green Grocer too soon, the Fire Brigade would be the only modular building. But maybe someone else can provide us with more accurate information. I'm just speculating.

If Cafe Corner is being cut, I may need to hurry up and grab it. Last time I was at the Bellevue LEGO Store (a week or two ago), they still had some. I've been holding off because it doesn't have an interior, but I'll just make my own!

I'm yet another who was pulled from his dark ages by the allure of the modular houses. They're a level of design far beyond anything else I've seen from LEGO and I sincerely hope they keep producing them. I also love the 30's style because my street layout happens to be set in the 1930s!

Well if these sets are being cut, I really hope we get some new ones in the vein of Green Grocer; with a good inside as well. The only one I've bought so far has been Market Street, but the sets are great and for those who purchase them I hope the series continues. Perhaps a bank or something would look good.

Batbrick Away!

I cannot see why LEGO would cancel this serie. In my opinion these AFOL sets are a growing market and sales are very good...

I'm guessing TLG would always like to have at least two Modular Buildings out at the same time. By that logic the announcement of a new Modular set should be your wake-up call. I think the announcement that production of the Cafe Corner was stopped came around the time of the announcement of Fire Brigade.

I hope you are correct. I'm sure I've read that this series was initially planned as three sets (Market street was an extra Factory set). I hope the sales were good enough to plan some more sets.
