natesroom Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) That seems to happen to the store i visit also. I picked out 3 bags on the last trip and i only got half of the green snake from a lego ninjago set. I got the completed technic mechinism but none of the part that makes the snake's head. After i got back from the mini vacation and did some research, i realized what the item was and that what i thought was a hero factory part in ANOTHER bag i had no interest in was most likely the snake head. I wonder if the store i went to is doing that also(the holding the figures on the side part). While i did get minifigure parts in the bags i've gotten(not all bags), there's nothing special about them. It's just a couple cheerleader heads, a couple caveman legs, a robin hood head, about 2 twirly mustache heads, hula girl head and legs, and a few other common things. I'll admit that the hula girl legs seem to work with the hoodie torso as a "one piece swimsuit under a hoodie" minifigure design(work in progress) but it's really nothing to write home about, so to speak. Have you tried using bricklink, ebay, or another site to find sets you're after for cheaper? My last grababg at the Downtown Disney store was 1 month ago.. they haven't had any since then. I didn't get any minifigs, but i did get some train parts about 200 wrenches, Windows, Doors (not the kind i would use in castle stuff though) and aboout 100 Orange cheese slopes/headlights plus about 20-30 Firefighter hats, 20-30 Caps and a few other things... oh about 50 different tires but no hubs... Not really worth it i think in my opinion. Edited May 17, 2012 by natesroom Quote
kasmca Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I got a grab bag at downtown Disney on April 21. They had about a dozen. There were some hero pieces a lot of doors but no frame and I got a boat! No minifigs though. Quote
antp Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 oh about 50 different tires but no hubs... Not really worth it i think in my opinion. As I do mostly city stuff, I could see these tires useful for a MOC of a garage / tire shop. Or a junkyard. If you do castle stuff, it would be less useful though Quote
splatman Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 If you do castle stuff, it would be less useful though Build a bouncy castle! Haha Quote
Sam892 Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Are these grab bags available in the UK? I haven't seen them but I never really browse the shop as I know what I'm purchasing. Sorry if this question has been asked before. Quote
caperberry Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Are these grab bags available in the UK? I haven't seen them but I never really browse the shop as I know what I'm purchasing. Sorry if this question has been asked before. Yes, but not always. Depends if the staff have things to put in them, plus if they have time :O) In the ones I've seen, they tend to be on a bottom shelf, near the back of the stores. Quote
ACWWgal2011 Posted June 19, 2012 Posted June 19, 2012 (edited) Remember, there's no such thing as an unuseful Lego piece! And even if they aren't your style there's always people who'd want them. These Grab Bags sound almost mythical to me, having only visited a Brand Store twice. Their allure seems quite similar to that of the CMs- while they aren't blind-packaged, they do provide a surprise in every bag. I'm also wondering- are they always packaged in the pictured Club bags? The white ones with clear spots like in message 14 or the ones from the Topic creator? From what i've seen, the white w/ clear spots is the standard in stores but the last time i went to the lego store, i saw some packaged in small lego store bags(the ones you get when u check out a small order) but i think that's b/c they were out of the normal bags. I'm thinking the next time i go and if they have the bags, i may pick up a couple extra to put on the side to open on a later date. I'm really craving a grab bag opening right about now. Maybe lego will eventually open a store in the state i live in. Edited June 19, 2012 by ACWWgal2011 Quote
Sid Sidious Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I want to Victor yesterday and they had six. I bought one. I got about a hundred black right sided wing pieces, but only two left. I was expecting that to happen, so it's not too bad. I also got at least a hundred trans green 1x1 plates, which is great. I found two 1x3 tiles in sand green, which are kind of rare. I think it was definitely worth it for the eight bucks I spent. Quote
Pingles Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Got two bags at the Valley Fair, CA store last week (the only two they had). Both were 400+ pieces, bulging at the ziploc. The first was spectacular, obviously a series of broken down sets. Very few multiples, lots of weird purple pieces, clear pieces, etc. that I've never owned before. The second, while still fantastic, also included about thirty white doors. Quote
Legobrandon Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Hoping for Grab Bags when I go to the Bellevue, WA store on Saturday! Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 8, 2012 Posted July 8, 2012 It's been a long time coming, but I got my first grab bags today! Just got home and starting to sort them. Quote
Cara Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 It's been a long time coming, but I got my first grab bags today! Just got home and starting to sort them. Woohoo! Good luck. I hope they are the store-just-took-down-display-model good sort ones Any particular bricks you are hoping for or looking for at this time? Quote
Darkdragon Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 Woohoo! Good luck. I hope they are the store-just-took-down-display-model good sort ones YEP they were. Any particular bricks you are hoping for or looking for at this time? Just hoped for some good minifigs and some nice white bricks (since most of my white bricks are not nice). Here's what I ended up with (I've so far only sorted out minifig parts). 3 Complete figs (Darth Vader, Davey Jones, and random parts fig, plust a bunch of extras) [darth vader torso not pictures, found it after this photo] Here's the rest. This is 6 bags worth, they were not very full (looks like 1 large PAB per bag) but great parts. Quote

I have 4184 Black Pearl, but he's still in his plastic baggy grave... Quote

kasmca Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Sadly, I was talking with the manager of my local Lego store and he said that they no longer allowed sell these because they are not labeled properly and they could violate some retail regulations. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 Yeah, the litigation happy strike again man. Happens to everyone for the most stupid reasons. Quote
