Whahaha!

This is certainly not a design by Nathanael Kuipers. He has a open (lego-related) style of building. If i could make a guess it's probably by Crowkillers. (His style of building is much more massive.)

IMHO it's just a MOC.

But let's wait and see!

Good Call.

I am going to e-mail him and see what the big Mystery was all about.

I am going to e-mail him and see what the big Mystery was all about.

Paul just e-mailed me back. He said that he sent his early pictures to some guy for editing to see what the guy could do and the guy posted them on Flickr. He wasn't very happy about it. But hey, what can you expect when you work with strangers? Live and learn.

He did an excellent job on the car. It's a very nice model.

I still haven't heard anything back. Well at least we 100% know that this is a MOC now. Meat, When did you talk to him? I have not heard from him since last April, I think. I still didn't get any response from him yet today.

Crowkillers built it "as a gift to my wife"......

:thumbup::thumbup::tongue:

LOL. When I buy Lego sets, I have to hide them from my wife. :pir_bawling: Crow finally e-mailed me back. He said everyone is entitled to their opinions about his design. He also sent me some disected pics of his car because I am trying to replicate it. It is a clever model even though it is very simple technically speaking.

@ Technicjuan:

What is better?

Hiding Lego from your wife, or building for her!

LOL, Obviously if you have a spouse that is into Legos, it is a win-win situation. :classic: My wife knows that I like to build, it keeps me home and not out clubbing with my single frineds. She always gives me that death look when a huge box from Lego arrives at the house. :skull:

:classic: Looks like crow has been posting up some nice building pics of the model. Looks like I will need to pick up the new crane truck to get most of those parts. Those big red panels are expensive. Hopefully we got some more sets next year that have those in them.

Yeah, I have been using them to help me fix the issues that I had when trying to build it from the earlier pictures. It is a very good build and I notice that he changed a few small things. I hope he uploads some body build pictures too, I am lost on the back rear panel. I am thinking about ordering some 8145 chrome wheel covers from www.chromebricks.com I wonder if they got their inspiration to chrome parts from crowkillers ?

I might as well order a new crane truck. I tore mine apart to build this car.

I talked to Paul for the first time on the phone last night. Very cool funny guy. he offered to help me out with some of the tougher(More expensive) parts. He had more information that I could take in. I learned quite a bit about building techniques. Juan, he said that he met you before at a show a few years ago.

I wonder if he has any extra Red 10L axles. They are the only 2 parts that I don't have to complete this model. The only 2 that I have are on my 8653 Enzo. They are really rare parts. I think the Enzo was the only set that they came in.

He is giving me 2 of them. He said that he had about 40. You may want to check with him. I got my crane truck today. Lego S@H has free shipping over $75. :classic: I am still going to need a few other things though. :hmpf_bad:

I see Paul has his car on Ebay now. I don't know how he can sell off his cars like that. :sadnew: I guess whatever floats your boat.

Why not?

It will be paid to him, in multiple value than the parts costs actual are.

He built it. He knows how to build it again. And he will be building new model again...

Posted (edited)

Yeah, he will probably rebuild it in a couple of weeks...

Thus, I assume he sells his Lamborghini only to make money. I really don't like this idea... :hmpf_bad:

Well, he makes cars that people really like, and are ready to pay good money for that. If he can sell one (probably more than one car) and build another one for himself, it is a good business.

He has both money and models at his table.

it is a good business.

He has both money and models at his table.

But when you are an AFOL, you shouldn't aims at making business.

The idea of creating a MOC in order to eventually get money strikes me. That's all.

The best reward for a MOC is the comments that other AFOLs will post, or other people will tell you during a meeting.

But it is certainly not the money you can get from your MOC. O_o

You and me totally agree on this, but it is his decision. If that is his way to collect money, it is fine with me.

I would just add, that the best reward in MOCing is the time and effort you spend during constructing it and pleasure when everything is as you wanted, and of course, comments from fellow AFOLs!

While I personally would never sell any of my creations, I can't argue with Paul selling his. Have any of you seen what kind of money that he gets for his cars? His car is currently at $150 with a $1 starting bid and he just listed it yesterday. I don't think he'll get a ton for it, but he'll make money on it. I also have a feeling that he probably has more than one built because he has new pics up at brickshelf of one with chromed wheels and tan seats with silver engine thingies.

He sure has more than one...it is logical when you sell something that has good price.

I saw earlier that some Brickshelf user (I will not write his name) sold his car, similar to this Lambo, for 650 USD. In my opinion, profit was more than 400 USD, given that perts are 250usd top!

So, if somebody does not have problems with it, why not?

One more thing that I feel I need to say, Paul sent me some parts that I needed completely for free. I don't know of too many hardcore lego enthusiasts that do that for people. So you guys can say what you want about him selling his designs because he somewhat indirectly spread the wealth to me. :classic:

No one was saying anything inappropriate to him. Just opinions.

For gifting red axles to you, he sure did very nice thing. I do feel that he is very nice person!

I gifted one IR receiver (not cheap) few days ago to a fellow AFOL, which I do not know personally, and some more pieces to another AFOL last month. I consider it as a form of friendship. We will meet at the meeting next year. Cant wait!

I built Paul's car just using the pictures that he provided at brickshelf, it isn't like he was being secretive or sneaky about his design. Anyone could build it. It is just a matter of spending time tracking down the parts. He even has a link in the auction to his BS folder. I also remember someone from the UK copied his vette engine and sold it on ebay last year. I am not going to say who it was, but the person was a featured builder at technicbricks blogspot.

Are you talking about the guy that built the all black 8653 Enzo with chrome wheels?
