I just woke up from a dream that started out wonderful and quickly turned terrible. I was in a toy store and (of course) looking at the lego selection when I spotted a set that was over a dozen years old. :oh: I was excited to find such an old set for regular retail price. Then I started noticing more old sets. Then I noticed sets that haven't even had pictures leak yet (2010 Pirate sets, all of Atlantis, etc.). I was so excited I started taking pictures of all the sets on the shelf because I thought "no one is going to believe this find!"

But then I started pulling some of the old sets off the shelf. The boxes were oddly light. I turned then and noticed they'd already been opened! Some were just empty boxes and other had been filled with basic bricks as some kind of cruel joke. :oh3: Then I realized my camera was missing so I couldn't even document what was happening. :sing: Soon after that I woke up.

The first part of the dream is relatively common, I can think of at least 3 other times I've had a similar dream where I find unexpected / non-existent sets in a toy store. I have dreams about MOCs as well, but I'm usually not as sad when I wake up from those dreams because I can always build the dream MOC if I want. Does anyone else here dream about lego sets in this way or am I just crazy?

I don't think your alone. I've especially been finding MISB old sets for (old) retail prices......... in my dreams :cry_sad: . However, the dreams never stretched as far as opening the boxes and certainly not finding them filled with basic bricks. :sceptic:

I have similar recurring dreams, where either I find a bunch of old sets for cheap in a store, or new sets that are incredible. So you're not the only one having this kind of dream. The last ones I had involved finding a bunch of old Space Police I sets complete with a huge custom in-store display base (odd since I'm not much of a space fan) and another where I come across 'next year's' line of amazing sets. They are on par with or better than most of what LEGO has made in the last 30 years, and included an oil rig, a beach hotel, a new airport and what could be described as a wilderness/log cabin lodge.

I am usually pretty angry that it was just a dream when I wake up; I know I don't have such good luck in reality :sceptic: But the one dream helped flesh out a bit the oil rig MOC I've been kicking around in my mind for some time. I'll probably start designing it in LDraw later this fall.

That sounds like a pretty bad dream. Apparently obscure toy stores like that actually exist around the world though. They got a bunch of Lego stock in the 1980s and sell it so slowly that they still have some of it left. I've heard various smaller European countries brought up here, although you would only find such stores in small villages there. This is how most of those ebay sellers who sell a ton of old MISB sets get their stock, but it's unlikely to happen in the future as TLG has revamped their supply chain to prevent this.

I had a dream once where I was doing my paper route, and then I saw Norro's [yes, in my dream I had decided it was his] entire collection on the curb. And just as I was about to build it, I woke up.

Ahaha, it's funny this sort of dreams are so usual!

Ever since I came out of my dark ages I've had a recurring dream where I see all these fantastic LEGO sets containing everything I've ever wanted on a store shelf, but on closer inspection they've turned out to be clone brand products. And of course I can't buy cheap clones, so the dream always ends with disappointment.

Wow, that was so similar to one of mine. This year I had one wear I opened up my Venator set, and it was 12 times the size of the puny thing Lego gave us... and there was Boba Fett, and all of the Bounty Hunters, and then I woke up.

In 2006 I had a pretty weird dream where six shiny new boxes of sets were waiting for me at my doorstep but then I turned around and they were gone.

I think I had another where ?I got the Death Star, but that's pretty vague. I think it's part of the "I-need-Lego-badly" disease.

I had a dream like that too! ^ ^

I was in my K-Mart (which is now closed down.... :cry_sad: ) And guess what I say in the middle isle of the whole place.... 2010 Pirate Sets!!

This was back in May or June or somethin'. My K-Mart practicly had no good LEGOs, only once in Sept.-Oct. of last year, when they had the castel sets, including Skeleton Tower, Prisoner Carrige, The Final Joust (for only $2!!! :oh3: ), and that catapult thing..... I got the Final Joust and Prisoner Carrige...

I've had plenty. I had a very dark dream about Eurobricks while I was in The Chamber. KimT was in it. But he was wearing a black cloak and looked pure evil with blood over his face. He had some other cloaked friends. That scared the hell out of me. I've had alot of dreams of me finding old sets, sets that haven't been anounced yet. It creeps me out and makes me sad. I had one where I found a Slave I but I woke up realizing it was a dream. Some of them seem so real. I had one where I bought a wierd set and woke up the next morning trying to find it.:laugh:

I've had such dreams many times too :cry_happy:

Once i've been to TRU and discovered there were rooms of older sets. I was just walking from one room to another and there were loads of sets, even those from the 90's...I was so happy. And yeah i often dream of unreleased sets or so..

I really hate these kind of dreams because it kind of ruins my entire day because when you wake up i'm really sad it was just a dream.

I had a dream that I was buying mass minifigs from some random person. Then I woke up to my lacking minifig collection. =(. I hate those kinds of dreams. Always disappointing upon waking.

I have plenty of those, not the "wrong stuff" bit though.

I buy the sets, I take them home, I put them in my Lego space ready to build. I wake up and promptly realise that the awesome sets (or toys, or boots, or jacket, or hat etc) are not real, I only bought them in a dream. :hmpf_bad:

While it is a better way to wake up than the 'all of Existence hitting you slap bang in the gray matter' first thoughts upon waking, annoying non the less.

That was a bad day.

This part of your dream would come true if you went to hundred mile house in British columbia. I went to this one pharmacy store and they had sets over 10 years old now and i bet you they still have them.

Most things in the town don't sell well so it's a goldmine for older sets.

I have had tons of lego dreams before but sadly most of them were me screaming because my brother was going to dump my lego bins out the window :sceptic:

There was one dream where I dreamed I was in zellers looking at lego castle sets that never existed . There was some kind of mountain fort set with elves and this other tall tower with demon figs of some sort, for some reason i remember the set designs were pretty bad :hmpf_bad:

I had a dream like this once that I found a tub of old Lego on the street leading to my house. I also recently had a half dream half awake thing where I was I minifig walking around my city display. That one was pretty cool.

Yep I have. Except it almost always plays out like this

I suddenly find myself at the shops (most of the time its TRU, Which is strange because I hate TRU, Damn their high prices!)

I see all these old sets I always wanted but never got + new sets then as I go to grab a box I wake up. Pretty damn annoying. :cry_sad:

Another weird thing is whenever I have the LEGO dream before the dream I have some other really random dream then I suddenly find myself at TRU.

i've had several of these dreams in the past. I remember one, when i got into a shop (think it was a gas station, these used have lego sets and on our way to italy for holidays the family used to stop at gas stations to buy food or something... and sometimes Lego... to keep us, kids, quiet in the back). I saw the entire series of M-tron, i didn't have the boxed sets at that time, but found i had nothing in my hands when i woke up...

dreams like this are quite natural, really. according to people who know a bit about dreams/dreaming, it is possible to dreams about things or people of which they're very emotional. Many people dream of dead loved ones, for instance...

I've had this type of dream twice. Both times the dream had me going to some small, distant village on an errand. Both times said village had a small and budget-strained toy store that still had lots of old toys still on the shelves, along with some new stuff. The second time I had this type of dream was actually last night, which, like noted by others above me here, is a real downer once you realise it was just a dream.

What makes it feel so real is that the store is usually a smaller store, usually a "general goods"-type, privately owned and a bit constrained when it comes to funding. The LEGO is usually half-mixed with other building toys (Megablocks and the likes), but the smaller sets are usually the newest sets. The old sets, on the other hand, are usually of the large, expensive type that apparently didn't sell well, with worn lids from lots of kids glaring and studying them, and faded colors from being displayed for years. It just seems so obvious that this is real.

So in last night's dream I bought two Airport Express Monorails and the bigger track expansion pack, all of them with worn and faded boxes, but otherwise sealed and in excellent condition. :cry_happy:

Then I woke up. :cry_sad:

Oh yes, I've had plenty of dreams like that. Back in 2006 when the first 2007 set leaks had come out, I was waiting patiently for the first images of the winter Bionicle sets to come out, as they were late to the party. As a result, nearly every night until they were revealed, I had a dream of finding them in a store or a catalog. The catch was, they always looked very different, and they had some very odd features.

How odd? Try masks made out of Megabloks Dragon egg slime and instructions that swore at you and involved placing double A batteries inside the sets.

I haven't had the dream about finding old sets, but I did have one about visiting a Lego store (I've only been to one once, the one in Munich) and spending ages going through Pick-a-brick filled with wonderous elements that were all so useful. The dream may even have been involved enough that I was actually choosing bricks to fill one of the cups! It was very disappointing to wake up and not be there! All the more so because for the time being it looks like funds will remain limited for purchasing any Lego at all, let alone taking a trip to Germany again pre-Christmas!

I mostly find that any intricate dreams I have, at least the ones I remember most, are subsequent to a cheesy supper (hard to beat a cheese sandwich, cheese on toast or cheese on crackers).
