Klaus-Dieter Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Thank you very much for this set list, darthperson! Since I'm not familiar with PoP I regrettably can't start off with these set names. The picture of this set does show that at least this set will be nothing very exciting. I could even imagine that supposably all the sets will be nothing very exciting - only the minifigs, the ostrich and the camel will be awesome! Btw: Can someone judge from the set names if we might perhaps get some sort of real-existing realistic looking (not futuristic) Arabian building in one of the sets - that would be awesome! Klaus-Dieter Quote
Commander Assassin Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Wow! I love the looks of this theme! After seeing the figs, to me it was another 'meh', but now seeing clear pics of one of the sets, I really like it! I am looking forward to seeing pics of some of the other sets. (Ostrich races?! ) Also, does anyone know where these pics were took? Quote

I could even imagine that supposably all the sets will be nothing very exciting - only the minifigs, the ostrich and the camel will be awesome! What? Do you just hate on everything that isn't City and Wild West? What's bad about the set? Everyone else is drooling over it! I'm loving this pic, the load of trans yellow a the back is very, very cool too. Even as a playset it is very organised and has a good sense of structure. The figs look fantastic as well, and I'm glad to see the return of the Indy saw blade and orcs swords, my army needed more weapons. And GOLD lion carvings! *dies* Batbrick Away! Quote
Etzel Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 And GOLD lion carvings! *dies* Do you really think it's gold? Looks more like dark orange to me when you compare it with the cones in front. Quote
CDC Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 The set doesnt seem special to me, it almost looks the same as that atlantis set which represents ruins or whatever. But i will buy it cuz of the figs and yeah,i think it's still the best set so far for 2010. Quote
Oky Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I wonder if this is 7572 Race against time or 7573 Battle of Alamut? I would guess the latest, the other set names doesn't fit so well. I think it's rather Race Against Time due to these reasons: The story behind this set seems more like a race rather than a battle; a race to get through the traps and to the end with the trans-yellow bricks. It is likely that the trans-yellow bricks are the Sands of Time as Inconspicuous suggested, even though I would have expected them to be in a sort of hourglass. Battle of Alamut seems to be the largest set of the line, and this doesn't look like it could be the largest set. And GOLD lion carvings! *dies* I don't think they're gold. Looks more like light brown or dark orange to me. Quote
prateek Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 What am I most looking forward to?7570 Ostrich Races. -darthperson Same here! Most likely, this will be the smallest set, like IJ AiC Quote
JimBee Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 Hmm... not so sure about this set. The rock techniques are great, and the colors are pretty sweet (I would much rather have dark orange over pearl gold), the fogs are good... but the set design overall isn't that good. I wonder I how much this one will cost? Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) What? Do you just hate on everything that isn't City and Wild West? What's bad about the set? Everyone else is drooling over it! No, surely not, BatBrick. I even like SW OT, medieval Castle sets (like hte awesome 10193 MVV), Pirates and even some other sets. And - like already mentioned - the minifigs of PoP are all really awesome! But the sets have to have an acceptable level. A Bstrange looking brick-built inside of a mountain and an versized chain saw doesn't make for me an interesting and acceptable set! But I thought that we'll see a comeback of the great scimitars of the Orient Expedition theme and not that orc swords. And I thought that we'll see some Arabian buildings, some dessert landscape, perhaps an oasis, ... Since I'm not familiar with the computer game I supposably awaited to much. Klaus-Dieter Not sure what an arabian building is you are implying it is missing. Anyway, Alamut is mentioned in a set to be released, which is a historical fort. And ruins of it are still present to date. Quote

I had no idea of what those trans-yelllow bricks were (never played any PoP game ). Just look at the Vizier! ) Isn't he great!? ) Not sure which one is the Vizier but it doesn't matter, all are great IMO Quote

Fair enough, but we don't even have a good view of one set yet let alone any of the others so your drawing conclusions to the whole theme already grates me. Besides, the scimitars of the Orient Expedition theme were ridiculously large, even more so than the orc swords, I don't know why you would want a return of them. Right now I'll side with my friend The Penguin; the only conclusion we can currently draw is that the minifigs are fantastic. Batbrick Away! Quote
JCC1004 Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 With a set now shown I'm seeing how PoP could compete with Indy. I don't know much about PoP and how much it realates to Indy. I do hope we get some Cario related sets. They look and sound really great. I'm really excited about the ostrich races. Quote
dragonboy79 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Here's another pic that I took: Quote
Oky Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Looking at pictures member ForceMaster has taken of Race Against Time, I can tell you that the set has a light-brick behind the trans-yellow bricks and includes a new sword! It has a handle that looks kinda like that of the old Orient Expedition scimitars (but better) and has a blade that looks like that of the Castle skeleton scythes. The blade is pearl silver whereas the handle is pearl/metalic gold. Also, the lion heads are definitely not gold, but some kind of orange-ish light brown. If you want to see the pics, PM ForceMaster. Quote
JCC1004 Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 They are gone now Why would he remove them? Can TLC force people to remove them? Did anyone happen to save them? I did see them before they were taken off. I did see a new dagger! Quote
Oky Posted September 22, 2009 Posted September 22, 2009 Apparently they can. I don't understand why they would give them those sets to be displayed at a public event where they are bound to be photographed and put on the web if they don't want them to be seen afterwards. TLC can be a bit stupid that way some times. I don't have those old pics, but I can tell you that ForceMaster's pics are much better anyway, so I would ask him to send them to you. Quote

A light brick huh? Great! I love that stuff, and the new sword sounds sweet, especially the two-toned colour scheme to it. I'm not real disappointeds about the lion heads not being gold anyway, any colour other than grey is nice. Batbrick Away! Quote
The Who Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Oh great. I didn't see a single one of the pictures. I'm going to assume they are good... Since I don't know anything at all about POP, are there any vehicles, or is it all building/landscape stuff? Quote

Etzel Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 Thanks for those fantastic pics, Forcemaster! A new arch piece, nice! Such amazing details on the minifigs, incredible! I'm just a little disappointed that they are light flesh instead of just flesh like many of the Indiana Jones figures are, but that's just a tiny detail. Quote
YG-49 Posted September 23, 2009 Posted September 23, 2009 "Click to BANG!" feature : See-saw mechanism. Interesting. Also this isn't final because the faces are decal'ed. Quote
