Legorski Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I don't know wether anyone else noticed or mentioned this before, but I just realized that the new camel comes in two colors, Tan and Dark Tan as seen on bricklink. The Tan one comes in "Battle of Alamut" while the Dark Tan one is featured in "The Fight for the Dagger" I wonder why there are two colors, Then again I'm fine with the two colors, no two camels are alike! Hound Knight Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I wonder why there are two colors, Then again I'm fine with the two colors, no two camels are alike! I'm guessing to add variety, maybe also as an incentive to buy both sets. MUST...HAVE...BOTH...CAMELS... Quote
The Legonater Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Just a warning to all of you going out to buy these before release... the stores won't sell these until April 1!!!!! (not april fools joke)The two TRU's I went to, one refused to sell them since it was not in the computer system yet, some stocker put them out by mistake, they took the sets away from me at the register, and I watched the manager take all the sets off the shelves. The second store I went to also had them fresh off the truck and mistakenly put out, computer said do not sell until the 1st! I was arguing with the manager of the second for like 30 minutes that if a product is on the floor, they have a right to sell it to the customer, etc. etc.... I argued to the point that I said I'm not leaving the store without these, so they price over-rided the computer and I got them. Also watched the employees take away all of the sets off the shelves and to the back. Such a hassle. Nice work! That's too bad... I have to wait a couple weeks two get the OSTRICHES. Quote
gunm Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Hm, looks like TRU.com temporarily pulled the listings for Lego Prince of Persia sets (except Ostrich Race, but that one is not orderable either). I guess they were scolded for breaking the street date...only S@H is "officially" allowed to sell these earlier than April 1st, I guess! Quote
Jack Bricker Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I just talked to a clerk at ToysRus and she quickly brushed me off and said that they would not be available until April. Well she was just unpacking a new cart of legos and I wouldn't be suprised of some of those boxes contained Prince of Persia Legos. I also talked to a clerk at the Lego store over the phone and she said no Prince of Persia until April 1st. I guess I was lucky to have the Battle of Almut and the Quest Against Time shipped to me last week from ToysRus.com. Quote
squidman85 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 The description of the Desert Attack set from the S@H: Deep within their secret lair, the evil Hassansins plan their next attack. But little do they know that Dastan has infiltrated their hide-out with a plan of his own! Set includes 4 minifigures: Dastan and 3 Hassansins. Why hide-out and why a skeleton becomed an assassin? It's description for Assassin's Hideout set-a Desert Attck prototype,i think. Quote
CF Mitch Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 So... does anyone know if and when these sets will arrive in Holland? I've been asking around at the Intertoys, ToysXL and Bart Smit, but none of them know anything. And they're not on the dutch S@H yet either I'm scared *overreacts * CF W Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Wait I was able to order Ostrich Race from ToysRus? Does that mean it won't ship out until April 1st??? Quote
Darth Hawken Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 All of the sets are now avalible on the lego online store. They were also listed in the latest lego catalog I think at very reasonable prices. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Wait I was able to order Ostrich Race from ToysRus? Does that mean it won't ship out until April 1st??? I would call their customer service and make sure that they ship. I didn't have a problem last week when I ordered Prince of Persia sets but, I would check just in case. Oh, and I would be prepared to argue of they try to waylay your shipment. Quote
gunm Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Wait I was able to order Ostrich Race from ToysRus? Does that mean it won't ship out until April 1st??? Jack Bricker on the previous page says he got a shipping confirmation, so apparently some orders did squeak through. Check your emails or your order status on TRU.com--perhaps you were also one of the fortunate ones to get shipped a little early! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I hope we get alaphant next year if this theme will be still with us... Quote
The Legonater Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I hope we get alaphant next year if this theme will be still with us... That's Lord of the Rings. Though I wouldn't mind getting that too... Quote
Etzel Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 That's Lord of the Rings. Though I wouldn't mind getting that too... There are no elephants in LotR, only Mûmakils And we already got elephants from the Orient Expedition theme, although some more wouldn't be bad I suppose. Quote
Sandy Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I hope we get alaphant next year if this theme will be still with us... I think that depends whether or not there's elephants in the movie. I really don't see this theme continuing for more than this wave, though, as great as these sets are. Quote

Hound Knight Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) He said Alaphant. that's in LotR. The Hobbits' word for Mumak is Oliphant actually. Does anyone know if these are available at LEGO Stores yet, or will be by next week? Edited March 23, 2010 by Hound Knight Quote

Artoo Detour Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Does anyone know if these are available at LEGO Stores yet, or will be by next week? They aren't available at Lego Stores until April 1st, unfortunately. We have to strictly follow the given release date. Though if you do happen to get yours at a Lego Store (at least the ones in the US) you get a free PoP Duplo Brick if you spend $50 or more on PoP sets. Quote

Hinckley Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 Picked up the new PoP sets at LEGOLAND California today. Quote
Jar Jar Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 (edited) ^I expect a review now! Hmm, I am going to the LEGO Store on the 1st so I guess I'll be loaded with PoP sets. Edited March 25, 2010 by Jar Jar Quote
Jack Bricker Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 The two biggest PoP sets should be ariving to my house tomorrow since they shipped last week. Hopefully, I will be getting them and I will be able to do some reviews. And then next week I will be buying the rest of the sets. Quote
Aanchir Posted March 25, 2010 Posted March 25, 2010 The Hobbits' word for Mumak is Oliphant actually. Does anyone know if these are available at LEGO Stores yet, or will be by next week? It's actually Oliphaunt. I'm curious what LEGO would do with an elephant since the last time we had one it used the 2002 dinosaur build, which we no longer see frequently. I doubt they'd make a completely new elephant, but it's still a curious question whether it would remain exactly the same. But anyhow, regarding this theme, I think we're already getting a real haul just with ostriches and camels. The ostriches could be used with Farm sets to produce an ostrich farm, something LEGO themselves are unlikely to do but which MOCists could certainly take a stab at. The camels are kind of questionable in my eyes-- the LEGO horse is already very limited in its poseability, and the camels are even less so with their lack of neck poseability-- but to be fair, you never see camels raised for jumping, show riding, running, or anything else typically expected of horses. Camels don't do much besides plod as far as the public is concerned. Neck poseability would be nice so the camels could tilt their heads for a drink, but I can see how the curve of the neck would make that awkward, so perhaps it's better without. Quote

I think the camels can be just as useful, if not more, as the ostriches . Show riding and running is two of your examples that camels certainly are raised for, don't know why you said they aren't. Camel racing has a huge interest in many countries and I'm sure someone could make a MOC of that. More over I'm really looking forward to build a nice caravan (might be expensive to stock up on the camels though) and they could of course be used in a zoo, a circus or as a tourist attraction in a resort MOC. Since camels were (and partly still are) such a great part of the Middle East and North African culture and nature I think that the release of them in LEGO will open up many new possibilities to make more realistic MOCs from those areas.
