Oky Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Has anyone noticed that PoP is the first theme without any printed or stickered parts in a long time (aside from the animals)? If the Persian army had a logo, what do you think it would be? A golden scorpion? I need one for one of my contest entries. Quote
Smack Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Just got back from my local Toy's R Us & they were having a 25% off on most of the PoP sets! I purchased the Battle of Alamut set (with a $10 off $50 purchase) for a grand total fo$49.99!!! (plus tax of course). 821 pieces for $50!!!! Needless to say I am very happy I went to TRU today. Do not have any info on how long this lasts or if it is in the U.S. only or in other parts of the world but I did want to give everyone a heads up! Hope I put this in the right part of the forum! CMP Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Has anyone noticed that PoP is the first theme without any printed or stickered parts in a long time (aside from the animals)? Oh my god! You're right! How could we have missed that? *Headslap* That's crazy. Quote
Svelte Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 Has anyone noticed that PoP is the first theme without any printed or stickered parts in a long time (aside from the animals)? Yes; it just goes to show what you can do with a well-designed theme and great parts selection. It's funny TLG has gone all out on printing with TS3 sets like Pizza Planet Express, though If the Persian army had a logo, what do you think it would be? A golden scorpion? I need one for one of my contest entries. I'm not sure... the pearl gold scorpion is only in 1 set so it hardly seems emblematic. The colour scheme of the Alamut soldiers seems dark red which is a nice contrast to the sandy, desert colours of the rest of the theme... I'd probably try for something with a dark red touch just for contrast. Quote

Svelte Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 What's wrong with that? I wonder if people are going to get annoyed that they aren't optional... There's nothing wrong with it at all. I think it's brilliant! It's just quite a turnabout in the way things have been handled in the last few years where very few pieces have been printed - eg in SW, the slopes in Ahsoka's Starfighter and the Tantive IV parts a rare exception. Especially things like tiles and number plates almost never get printed normally. I hope this trend continues! Maybe LEGO invested in some new brick printing machines, or something? It is weird though when you look forward to Harry Potter in October and almost every part in those sets is stickered. Maybe the alternate explanation is that market research shows kids hate stickers and find them difficult to apply. Honestly, I'm really not sure what the reason is. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I was wondering about the HP sets... Ugh, it's going from stickered sets to printed sets and back again. I hope very much that the HP parts will be printed in the final sets. Now back to PoP: I've been watching the movie commercials and noticed Lego forgot to put in a Willie minifig. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 If the Persian army had a logo, what do you think it would be? A golden scorpion? I need one for one of my contest entries. I bet it would have to do with the dagger of time, as that is the theme's most iconic part. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

I just don't know what else it could be. Hm, how about a dark red scorpion then? Or maybe the golden one on a dark red circle? I bet it would have to do with the dagger of time, as that is the theme's most iconic part. I highly doubt that the Persian army would represent themselves with the image of a mythical object that they just found out about a few days ago and which they aren't even in the possession of most of the time. ILikePi Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 (edited) There's a PoP BrickMaster set for September-October 2010: Unfortunately I can't post a larger picture of it because I haven't received the latest magazine yet. It looks like a neat set! I like how TLG is starting to make BrickMaster sets with minifigs again instead of just mini models. I might just have to order a subscription soon. Svelte Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Dastan has the exact same pose as the Fight for the Dagger box art! It reminds me of that little 2003 Orient Expedition set, Tygurah's Roar. Thanks for sharing, Pi! I'd heard there would be a PoP BM set but this is better than expected Quote
squidman85 Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 It reminds me of that little 2003 Orient Expedition set, Tygurah's Roar. The same to me.Is this part from the movie or it's lego designers idea? Quote
Oky Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 I think it's supposed to be a tiny version of Quest Against Time, so in a way, yes, it's in the movie. It's a pretty neat set, especially for someone who doesn't have any PoP sets yet. A micro-scale Alamut could have been nice too, though. Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Evil things are happening, play features in a brickmaster set?! I remember a time a long time ago when brickmaster sets were the first to come out. Quote
Inconspicuous Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Slighter better picture, from the new magazine. I'm excited that they're finally including a minifig, but I wish they could have put in a less common one. However, it does looks fairly nice, and Lego could be heading this direction more in the future. Quote

Looks like a good source of those arch pieces, of which 2 only are in the Alamut set Quote
YG-49 Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 (edited) Is anyone else having problems with the Dagger of Time? It's like... The normal LEGO knives. When a fig holds it their hand leaves marks! Edit: I just noticed something. My katanas are the old OCTAGONAL version! Edited May 8, 2010 by YG-49 Quote

Etzel Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 Give us pics, man! PICS! What's the big deal? I got both versions too, my Battle for Alamut came with the octagonal and but in The Fight for the Dagger and Ostrich Race it was the square version. The difference isn't that big and it doesn't effect their functionality (eg. both fits perfectly in the katana holder). Quote
ILikePi Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 TLG released a 2 minute mini movie on YouTube today which features all five sets and sets the story line of Prince of Persia: Quote
CMP Posted May 12, 2010 Posted May 12, 2010 TLG released a 2 minute mini movie on YouTube today which features all five sets and sets the story line of Prince of Persia. I don't think that's quite how the movie goes. Tamina seems to have no interaction with Dastan at all, while in the trailers, it seems she is with him most of the time. Quote
cooky321 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Toys-R-Us/Toys/Co...k-7569(0078645) This is Toys r us in the UK, I found this set with the name "Desert Attack" but it is different from the one with the shrubs and the horse, can anyone explain this? Quote
