Legoist Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 What are the methods and products you have been pleased most to use to clean old bricks, such as bricks found in the attic after 20 years or bought from someone else? Do you have any trick to share on specific tasks such as how to clean difficult-to-reach spots or transparent pieces? How to clean without destroying stickers? I've washed bricks by hand with the help of a dishwasher brush and dishwasher soap, but it takes ages. For large quantity of bricks I've dumped them into the washing machine with mild detergent (and inside a laundry bag) but in this case I've always been afraid of damaging the printed parts... Quote
Big Cam Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 A quick search brought up 2 existing topics on cleaning old brics. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...amp;hl=cleaning and http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...amp;hl=cleaning As for me, hand washing with a wet rag and drying with a dry one, is all I've ever done. If you don't have the time to do it right, you don't have the time to do it twice. That's what I say. Quote
Rocky Posted September 19, 2009 Posted September 19, 2009 (edited) I myself don't have many very old bricks. The oldest sets I have are from 1999 because I only collect star wars. I have noticed dust on them so I simply use a swiffer duster from Zellers. I'm not sure what to do about dirt that is stuck on though. I don't play or move my lego at all. I think that washing the bricks in your sink would be the best way to clean them. A wet rag would also work for the larger parts. Remember to use a very soft soap like Dawn while washing lego. Other cleaners can discolor pieces. As Big Cam has stated there are other topics about this subject, you should check out those. Edited September 19, 2009 by Rocky Quote
