BrickBob Studpants Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) I've just found this picture on reasonablyclever's flickr account: http://www.flickr.com/photos/reasonablycle...44124304756@N01 Well, it may be a production error, but it looks like there won't be any yellow crystals, instead we're getting more neon-green ones. It might be a detail, but why having a trans-yellow monster without getting an appropriate crystal? Makes no sense from my point of view Edited November 17, 2009 by Lego-Freak Quote
Brickthing Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 That seems like an odd budget-cutting move for Power Miners, considering Power Miners was the one to introduce so many new matching colours of crystals in their first wave... Quote
Dunjohn Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Well, since the theme has moved onto lava, maybe not every set is going to have crystals. Combustix mightn't have any, so they didn't make any. Quote

If I remember correctly though, the Mine Mech had a neon green crystal in the early release. Quote
Bfahome Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I like how they have some black printing on the head. Not to mention a transparent head. More detailed than the previous monsters, IMO. Quote
pedro Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Look's like someone is looking to make a quick buck profiteering from pre-release of 8188 and 8189 here... Quote
JimBee Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I think the trans-neon green crystal is because it's way more common (and cheaper to produce?) than trans-yellow. How often do you actually see this color? Not often, I think. While having yellow crystals for this lava monster, is worth having a higher price for the set? The new lava monsters look great, by the way. I just picked up my first PM sets, and already I like the lava monsters better. I like how the spots and arms are black instead of dark bley (for cooled lava), and the eye shape is nice. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 I've just found better pics of the two remaining sets on amazon.jp: Quote
Batbrick Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Hmm, the base looks pretty mediocre to me, not worth it at all, not even for the big daddy of the rock monsters. Morer power to those who do like it though. Batbrick Away! Quote
squidman85 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Oh no,Infernox really in set 8190.It's not very awfull,but i won't by it only for a monster Quote
JimBee Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Meh, I don't really like the look of these that much. The new lava monsters (and lava queen) are cool, but that's about it, besides the silver miner figs. I wonder why they added medium blue to the color scheme, it just messes it up, IMO. Lime green and orange were great, especially for getting rare colors, but medium blue isn't worth making the sets look like a rainbow of colors. Quote
CommanderFox Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Thanks for those pics Lego-Freak They look like pretty good sets! CommanderFox Quote
bamaker Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 (edited) I really like these two sets; much better than the summer sets we got this year. I pick and choose which PM sets I get, and so far I like the look of the 8190 Claw Catcher -- appears to be fairly sizeable and solid -- and 8191 Monster Jail. I might also get the new mech set, but I'll hold off until someone does a review. Edited November 20, 2009 by bamaker Quote

The design isn't TOO bad but the colour scheme is just disappointing Quote
UsernameMDM Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I agree The new blue just makes them look drap IMO. The design isn't TOO bad but the colour scheme is just disappointing I may try to change the medium blue out for orange, light bley, or white. Something to make it look like the original line. Quote

tonelok Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Look's like someone is looking to make a quick buck profiteering from pre-release of 8188 and 8189 here... I saw some empty shelves this afternoon with labels for some 2010 models and I bet quite a few of them were bought by ebayers. I can understand if you are overseas and tempted to buy them, but here in the US, it sounds like the 2010 sets are out at all of the Toys R Us stores and that it's been left up to the individual stores to stock them on the shelves as they see fit. commdr_neyo Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Don't think these pics (scroll all the way down) have been seen.. Quote
Loganwan Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I can't wait to see the two PM bases together. A production base mixed with the capture base will make a nice large stage. That will be a lot of lime green. Wasn't so sure about it when this line started, but now I LOVE it! I will be bummed if the yellow of the monster does not match the crystal, but I will get over it. I just got the first set yesterday, but I have not had time to build it. Quote
Oky Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 (edited) Remember that PM watch I was talking about a while back? Well, it's now available at S@H: Btw, when I was flipping channels on TV the other day, I saw this rock monster on the Nick show "The Troop": Edited November 23, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote

Is this wave a full one or just one of the half waves that has another one coming in august? Edited November 23, 2009 by Black Rabbit Quote
