squidman85 Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thanks for all pictures! This one is going on my desktop! It's really funny! And I am glad that Fire pieces are not part of the Eruptorra (its she for me :P) It's HIM .If you look closely at him,he has rock-like beard. P.S.Thanks I didn't think, that someone will like it Quote
CDC Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I actually liked power miners but these 2010 sets suck big time. Too bad. Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Thanks a lot for those pics, MantaMan! I really like the new PM wave, actually I even prefer them to this year's sets. Eruptorr(a) looks very cool indeed (as well as the other lava monsters) and I can't wait for the sets to arrive next week Quote
Bfahome Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 It's HIM .If you look closely at him,he has rock-like beard. That's lava drool, isn't it? Quote
Disturbia Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I saw Magma Mech sets in my local Tesco, didn't pick one up because I didn't bring any money. Just thought you'd all like to know. Quote
Forresto Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Nope. It's old, like in Fire Brigade set. Some photos with Europtorr and Firax: snip* This may be asking you a lot, but is it possible you do a review of the prison set? No one has yet so it would be nice to see one. Quote

Eck. My local Tesco is crap for Lego, but I'll run by there on the way home from work tomorrow, just incase. Thanks, Mantaman, for the images of Eruptorra! I think I prefer her over the 2009 big guys (I can't think of their names right now). The flames definitely look better than standard crystal formations. And it's nice to have large flame pieces that aren't long spouts. Edited December 29, 2009 by Dunjohn Quote

And it's nice to have large flame pieces that aren't long spouts. I kind of liked the two big rock monsters of 2009, just because they look like bulkier versions of the smaller monsters, keeping the same doofy-looking faces with a crystally underbite. Eruptorra is awesome, but with all his/her fancy flame and lava details I think it's more fair to compare him/her with the Crystal King and his spiky goodness than with 2009's mid-size monsters, even if the build is similar. Forresto Posted January 2, 2010 Posted January 2, 2010 I've been wondering that according to Lego that if a rock monster gets old enough will become those bigger monsters and eventually into a crystal king sized monster. Anyways i'm wondering if Lego has anything bigger up thier sleeve like maybe a "Rock monster queen" or a "rock monster brain". I personally think it would be interesting if they had some sort of explanation for the earth's tremors, that maybe involved a huge rock monster that was actually crawling towards the Earth's core or maybe even eating up towards the surface. Also maybe amonth or two ago, I saw a cool new movie from lego for PM. It showed the crystal king attacking the titanium rig and eventually the whole chamber fell hundreds of feet below. Mostly everything was covered in lava and it seemed the video was branching the two lineups together. I can't seem to find it again so does anyone know where to find it? Quote

I've never seen that scene as a movie, but it seems to be the same plot as was in the PM comic from the December magazine. If you can find that movie, I'd certainly like to see it myself! I haven't seen the Crystal King in any of those movies so far! Quote
Andeh Posted January 3, 2010 Posted January 3, 2010 On the Lego Website, click on Story and click on the miners. One of the miners has a description about some portal. What portal may this be then? Have they not come to it yet? Quote
toatali Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 Just wanted to say, the website has been updated to fit the 2010 products! Quote
EspEth12 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I found out some of the summer 2010 set names idk if their real or not 8192: Flame Machine 8193:Magma Monster 8194:Lava Queen 8195:Digger Lava 8196:Magmacopter (sounds cool) 8197:choo choo fire 8198:magma crane Thats all! Quote
The Cobra Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I'd say "not". Those numbers belong to 2010 Racers set (Tiny turbos and fold-outs) Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) @EspEth12: The list you've posted is obviously fake since the set numbers are already used for Racer sets... (proof: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=8192-1) Edit: Too late Edited January 8, 2010 by Lego-Freak Quote
Delta 38 Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 8197:choo choo fire Ignoring set numbers, that name has to be fake! =P Is there any actual proof so far that Power Miners is even continuing, aside from their absence in the winter catalogue? It'd be nice to have a larger variety of monsters. I can imagine ice monsters and crystal monsters could be introduced with the same mould being used for the lava monsters, except in different colours, but that's probably never going to happen. Quote

It'd be so awesome if there were ice monsters, since Ice, Lava, and Rock were the three environments (and subsequent types of monsters) in the Rock Raiders computer game (not that I played it much). Of course, since Power Miners takes place on Earth, that'd be a lot harder to pull off, unless we were to totally demolish our geological preconceptions in the spirit of Journey to the Center of the Earth. And I don't see that happening, especially with the absence of proof that Power Miners will continue. I hope the story at least concludes... it'd be really crummy if the 2010 story went like, "Now we're in the lava, and now we've conjured this jail facility out of thin air, and now the fate of the earth is up to builders like YOU!" Basically the same sort of letdown I felt after Exo-Force's sole, nonconclusive magazine comic in 2008. Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) I personally would love to see Ice Monsters and have ever since Rock Raiders I haven't said this yet, so I might as well say it, blue+lime+red+orange=possibly the worst color scheme ever! Is it even a scheme if it looks like a pile of multi colored bricks thrown together followed by; mommy, look what I made wid dees lego pieces! Oh thats nice honey, for a three year old, you really have a knack for picking out colors that go well together! At least when their used outside of the set, you'll have a variety of colors (to never be used in the same creation again) sorry for ranting, but hmphmg! atleast the new figs are awesome (infact so awesome that I'm going against my better judgement next time a get to a target, and buying the small 10$ one) I mean, chrome rocks! If only they could have used chrome instead of blue ~Insectoid Aristocrat Edited January 10, 2010 by dannylonglegs Quote

If only they could have used chrome instead of blue ~Insectoid Aristocrat I kind of have to agree that Lavatraz's color scheme is a mess. Changes I'd have made would include changing the rocky areas to black (to match the "rocky" portions of the Lava Monsters, the same way last year's stuff used dark bluish gray rocks in sets like the Underground Mining Station. Also, LEGO still hasn't figured out how to make proper lava pools (this is just as bad as the one an Agent was dangled over in the Volcano Base set). Preferably the plates which form the actual lava would be changed to trans. orange or trans. red, to give them that fluid and glowy look they need. The other Power Miners sets this year do impress me a great deal, however. I think that blue and lime is a great follow-up for the equally entertaining orange and lime, and most sets organize the colors well. Lavatraz is just an unfortunate exception. Quote

Delta 38 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I noticed something interesting story-wise... If you go to the Power Miners site, and go to the bios of the monsters, there's an interesting bit of information underneath Crystal King: ...Crystal King is the ultimate, undisputed ruler of the Sulfurix... That's means there might be multiple Crystal Kings for different types for each rock monster type! In the trailer for the new Lego movie, there's what appears to be an orange version of a Crystal King. ...and he keeps on getting bigger and stronger as he gets older. So, maybe Forresto is right. Maybe the rock monsters are currently young versions of Crystal Kings, or something like that. Something that would really help clear up these theories is if we know whether "Crystal King" is a name, or a title. Here, I'm assuming it's a name, as the bios imply. Quote
Sulfurix Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Actualy Delta 38, originaly the bios called the crystal king RockRage, emplying that "crystal king" is a position of importance in the rock monster government. Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted January 23, 2010 Posted January 23, 2010 Alright what is the deal here? The two big power miners aren't available in the USA! I certainly hope that they are just really late with the release, and it's not that they won't be coming out at all! Otherwise TLC will be hearing from me! :skull: Quote
