ProducePrincess Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 That set is beautiful and the idea behind it is great I'm guessing it's gonna be at least 9.99 dollars canadian witch should be good because the set looks like it has a good selcetion of parts. I'm just wondering though if anyone has found a picture of the larger lave vehicle? Quote
Oky Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) I found the 2 small power miners sets at target for $3 each. I bought one of each. Thanks, I found them now too. However, when I was holding them in my hand, I quickly lost interest. The sets and the parts they are made of are useless and the miner is the same as the one in the Stone Chopper. Sulfurix is somewhat rare and actually my favorite rock monster, but he's not worth 3 bucks to me. I rather save my money for the awesome 2010 sets! I'm just wondering though if anyone has found a picture of the larger lave vehicle? I don't know what "lave vehicle" you're talking about, but there is this thumbnail of 8190 "mini-monster grabber". By the way, since the pic of the "Lavaflitzer" is not confidential, shouldn't it be frontpaged? Edited September 20, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
YG-49 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Where did you see that? And what's so funny about it? On a translated version of the set site. What's so funny about it?!? It's called Fiery Petrel! What kind of a set would that be? A gas station? And if the fire monster get's too close to the gas it blows up! (That would be pretty cool actually ) Kinda weird that the "Fire Blaster" (Lavaflitzer) shoots water. Quote

That's actually even funnier if I think about it but it's obviously a bad translation, just like the other set names (Robot Magma? ). Kinda weird that the "Fire Blaster" (Lavaflitzer) shoots water. Well, it is blasting the fire (with water), isn't it? Quote

(That one's for you Striker. ) Robot Magma? Possibly the new Miner suits are actually robot hardsuits? They go for a swim in the magma? Think of the possibilities for the new Fire Monsters!!! Just imagine, a Monster being held captive to power a Miner's Flame Thrower! I know I'll be modding my Cave Crusher to do that. Edited September 20, 2009 by YG-49 Quote
ILikePi Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Wow, the Fire Blaster looks really good! It's about time the miners and rock monsters got a color change! I also bought one of each of the Power Miners impulse sets, but I found the rock monster one to be disappointing. The parts are so simple, and the catapult only works half of the time... However, the miner impulse set is great! There's so many parts for $3 USD. Also, there were around 5 extras (no extras for the rock monster impulse)! These are my first Power Miners sets, so almost every single piece is new to me, but I can understand why some other people (Oky Wan) don't like the impulse sets. YG-49 Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Wow, the Fire Blaster looks really good! It's about time the miners and rock monsters got a color change! Actually, I think the head of the Lava Monster is a new mold! Look how tall it is compared to the normal Rock Monster head!Imagine the medium sized Rock Monster's with that color scheme. Also, clever use of the rollcage piece. Edited September 20, 2009 by YG-49 Quote
Darth_Legois Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Thanks for the pic, Lordofdragons! I wasn't a huge PM fan but the new rock monsters are looking very appealing, as is the concept of the lava/ magma theme. This pic isn't marked confidential/ prelim, so I will post it here: BTW Oky, I have seen one translation of the prison set's name as 'Fort Lavatraz' (a la Alcatraz), so this may back up your theory that it's a rock monster run jail! I agree. I like the new silver/grey uniform. And the Rockraiders helmet in another colour. I'll probable get afew of that set... Just for the pieces. Wow, I might actually buy some of these sets now. That visor looks really useful, along with a lot of parts on the vehicle there. Someone said its the Ice-planet visor but there's no antenna...I think they just cut the antenna off and made a new piece but I think it would've looked better with it on. Quote
Bfahome Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I don't know what "lave vehicle" you're talking about, but there is this thumbnail of 8190 "mini-monster grabber". Excellent use of Carapar armor pieces. Also yaaaay lava monsters. Quote
Rick Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Although I'm not buying the theme, I really like the innovative set designs in the line. The 2010 line appears to be no exception to that. An great example of how Lego's 'own' (non-licensed) themes can be developed into a successful product line. Quote
Forresto Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I really ike this little set a lot. Power Miners is probably my favorite Lego made theme (besides SP3) and it's kind've ingenious that they have magma monsters and more encased suits the deeper they get. I really wonder now what's making those mysterious rumblings. Quote
ProducePrincess Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Check out this guys photostream he has most of the new sets including a power miners base! Link! Edited September 20, 2009 by Black Rabbit Quote
Tinn-man Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Eww... Those colors are Come on LEGO, lime green, orange, and some-times grey. Why blue and red, too? Looks like a 7-year-old's moc. But I like that little car that was posted earlier Quote
doctordark Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 That jail looks awesome and horrible at the same time Quote
metalandi Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) That base better be a very bad joke. This would be the most horrible lego has ever produced, if that is real. There's absolutely nothing awesome with it, not even near "nice", it's just plain horrible  It looks like random pieces thrown together by a 5 year old... Edited September 20, 2009 by metalandi Quote
doctordark Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Metalandi I agree with you but i MUST have every power miners set. I already have 11 Quote
Oky Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) A better pic of the jail: That jail looks awesome and horrible at the same time I pretty much agree. While it seems to have a nice design, it just looks too colorful. Too much blue maybe. I like the turret and vehicle it comes with, though. The turret reminds me of something from HALO or GI Joe. Can't wait to get my hands on those sweet silver helmets! Btw, the Fire Blaster has been spotted on Target.com: Link Edited September 20, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
MrTools Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I realy dont know what to say about the jail, but Silver helmets! And a new part that attachs to them! And did anyone notice the new rock monster? spikes and YELLOW! Quote
Dunjohn Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) The base seems to have a very open, sparse design. At first, I thought the jail was just a cage for the little mini-digger to park in, but it looks like they're actually dumping lava monsters in there. Umm... which side are the good guys again? I've always been a little unsure about that, but now.... I too hate the bloo; red, I can understand a little, since they've reached lava - though orange would've been neater - but all of that blue should be green. The colour scheme doesn't seem to have been popular with many people, myself excepted because I love it, but it was consistent. It looks horrible when diluted with two more. Maybe the blue is there because they're using water now, but it's still a bad idea. Though, I suppose the miner minifigs all wore blue. The pincer claws, surely, should be orange. As for the new yellow rock monster, hell yeah, and that means yellow cyrstals! Dunno about anyone else but I love those cyrstal pieces. Edited September 20, 2009 by Dunjohn Quote
Tom Bricks Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I really like the new smaller set, the colors on that one work great, but the base looks terrible. I hope that better pics will reveal a nice set for that one. Quote

An great example of how Lego's 'own' (non-licensed) themes can be developed into a successful product line. I agree! I don't buy Power Miners because I don't like the vehicles and colour scheme but the designers should have credit for some really nice ideas. I like the concept of the miners going deeper and deeper and adjusting themselves to the new problems they encounter, like new heat-protected suits and using cold water to fight the rock monsters. Quote
Bfahome Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 I'm the only one who likes the jail, aren't I? >.> That crane is cool. And the blue fits since they seem to be trying to extinguish lava monsters (with water). Quote
doctordark Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Bfahome, yes they are trying to extinguish the monsters but not with a crane. I mean the crane isn't made of water is it? Quote
Dunjohn Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 (edited) Bfahome, yes they are trying to extinguish the monsters but not with a crane. I mean the crane isn't made of water is it? Well, there is a water cannon unit on one side, outside the baseplate. Maybe the miners like to torment the poor caged rock beasties... sick freaks! There seems to be a red tab below one of the cage walls. A catapult/trap door trigger? Given that this whole structure is mounted over a lava pool, I think the Duplo fishing boat nearby is kind of cute. Edited September 20, 2009 by Dunjohn Quote
Svelte Posted September 20, 2009 Posted September 20, 2009 Looks like a 7-year-old's moc. That's what I thought - 'Why has this table with all the new Lego sets on it got some kid's ugly MOC on it?' I didn't look too hard and realise it was a Power Miners set! That is truly horrible! Quote
