Oky Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Actually those look like dark bley 2 x 4 tiles, not 2 x 3. Ah yes, sorry, hit the wrong key. Aww. Oh well, that's okay. So was the color scheme of the adjustable links lime and orange? Yes, and bley and, surprisingly, silver. Quote
GoN2Broadway Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 In regards to the price/piece ratio: While it appears that 67 pieces should be a cheaper price, we tend to forget that the amount of molded plastic influences the price - The drill takes much more ABS plastic than another piece - this is one of the reasons the Pirate ship is so much - the base of the boat is a lot more plastic and equates to more pieces due to the volume of plastic in the set. It looks to be about the same physical size as the Crystal King, and as that is $19.99 USD it doesn't come as a great shock that this one will be around a similar price range. Quote
Stewie Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'm going to use the thing that holds the water water for my city. Well maybe that means Exo-Force might come back .I liked that theme. Quote
prateek Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Hmmm... I don't really like that mech. It looks wierd with the blue. Quote
Batbrick Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Again, still kinda mixed on this set, but I won't be getting it. Really, really hoping that silver Agents armour comes in a cheaper or better set though, as the Agents one disappointed me when it turned out to be printed. Batbrick Away! Quote
doctordark Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 The magmamech looks pretty big for only $20. Quote
prateek Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 big green mecha = fail Correction: Big blue green orange mecha = fail. Quote
CaptainRex110 Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 The magmamech looks pretty big for only $20. Yeah, but look at the pieces count for $20... Quote
Raphy Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Yeah, I agree, they're a bit hard on the little rock monsters. I mean, in that trailer for the second wave, they showed a caged monster getting thrown at a large crystal monster. The cage broke and they sat around with crystals circlin their heads. That was actually quite funny, but extinguishing the little lava monsters is going quite too far. In fact, in the bio for Brains on the website, it said he'd love to bring some rock monsters up to the surface alive. Does that mean they kill them? I seriously doubt lego would go that far. Quote
Rick Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I have a feeling the color scheme will ultimately grown on a lot of people, considering the initial reactions to the lime and orange last year... Quote
The Rancor Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 I like the more centralised idea on being nearer the centre of the earth or near a volcano - which I assume is why the rock monsters are on fire (unless they ate too many crystals). The first 3 sets that have appeared all seem to want to extinguish the monsters in some way or another with those blue weapons - which I assume are the helmet colour so should be okay. I also like the new 'armour' for the actual miners - pretty much all pearl silver. BTW Raphy, TLG DID go that far with Dino Attack - we just didn't get the same theme in the Uk. Quote
Bfahome Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Yeah, but look at the pieces count for $20... Quality (or in this case piece size) is a better judge than quantity. People need to understand that. >.> Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Yeah, but look at the pieces count for $20... The piece count is OK for the price. Look at some of the other sets. The UGLY City car with 43 pieces is $10, the Police fighter is $13 for 68 pieces. LEGO continues to push their prices upward and I wonder where the breaking point is before their sales drop off. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 10, 2009 Posted October 10, 2009 Maybe the lava monsters are just living off the "Ninjas can't catch you if you are on fire" principle and don't need to be red hot to survive. Thus the Power Miners can douse them in a little water to save melting in the heat of crazy lava hugs? Jus' saying. Not sure why there has to be so many negative connotations stuck to toys. Quote
Thee Pirate Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I actually think that mecha rocks. I bought the two green bionicle sets to work on a pm mecha but my lego habit is, unfortunately, on hold for the time being. Quote

This month: 1-October-2009 - 1.00USD = 5.12DKK (Danish Kroner) Three years ago:1-October 2006 - 1.00USD = 5.85DKK Thus the USD is valued at around 20% less then it was three years ago, as a non-USA based company The LEGO Group therefore has to raise it's prices just in order to maintain an even return from the USA. In other words this has little to do with LEGO feeling it can push the prices higher for more profit, instead it is to do with the devaluing of your currency over the last 3 years as the unhealthy debt in your economy has caught up with you and the rest of the world has realized the USD in not worth as much as it once was. If you look around you will probably find a similar result in food and other products produced or owned outside the USA. (If you also start considering the increase in the oil price - remembering LEGO is made from oil - you can see even more economic pressure forcing prices up.) I know it's annoying, but sort out the economy and and the oil price and we fans might see piece counts improve again! (Reason number 40066 to sort out the world economy: bring LEGO prices back down! ) Cheers. Quote
Mission Commander Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 WOW, you must really know what you are talking about! Back on topic, see you guys when you first saw pics you hated but now I really like the blue. Quote

(Reason number 40066 to sort out the world economy: bring LEGO prices back down! ) Cheers. Oh I know the whole thing is a mess. However the USD is worthless cloth, same with the Euro, we just give it a value based on a joke system. However the USA is LEGO's biggest market and with the insane price increases of the last few years parents will be buying less and less and that will hurt LEGO around the world. Also Amazon's prices can't be right because if they are LEGO is really odd. A small set for 413 when you can get a much bigger set for $5? Very weird, we shall see. Maybe LEGO will be doing the same thing they do in Europe, hugely overprice things and then sell them "on sale" for what the normal price should be. Quote
slimninj4 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I do like the new suits and the addition of blue color now. This mech looks silly to me though with that arm. I am glad they are still making mechs and I hope kids like this set. Quote
Nightshroud99 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I'm actually kind of liking this mech, it grows on you after awhile just like the Crystal King did. Quote
Forresto Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Obviously in an advanced state of crystal addiction, rock monsters turns sickly yellow, their eyes go bloodshot red, and dead black sores form on their skin Brings a new definition to "Crystal Meth" Quote
Raphy Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Hey, isn't that my pic? :( Oh well, I guess anyone can go copy/paste from the amazon zoom-in... ;D Quote
The Crazy One Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Wow, these sets look amazing. I have to say, I will be picking them up soon. One thing, what the hell does squirting monsters with water have to do with mining??? Quote
