Unfortunately I don't have the Fire Brigade yet, so I'm having to extrapolate from the reviews of other people... but I think I'm going to have to go with that set out of the three.

I think my favourite feature is that all three firemen have civilian hair as well as their fire hats. That just does it for me, somehow. And then there's the civilian woman with her satchel, included with the set even though she has nothing to do with the fire brigade... and the dog who completes the street requirement of pets and animals.

And the fire engine showing that these sets aren't all about architecture, they're just like ordinary lego sets taken to an extreme adult level.

Yes... the fire station. Hope I get it soon...

I voted for the Fire Brigade, although I'm unlikely to keep it built. I view all these as very good value parts packs. CC in my opinion has a miss matched colour scheme, the blue ground floor looks out of place with the other stories. GG is an awsome set, and probably my favourite design, but limited value in multiples because too much green in a town would look odd. The FB on the other hand, is not a model I'm too interested in, but the colour choices for the building are ideal for other town Mocs. My only problem with it is it's really expensive in Australia so I'll be ordering from US S@H.

green grocer is the best modular building so far.

the color scheme is nice, it has interior and the exterior is beatiful.

Why did we start another one of these?

This topic does not include Town Plan and is a poll. Sure, we've had other discussions regarding these sets (some started by me as well), but each have been different in some way. Now that more people own the Fire Brigade, we can compare votes for each of the three sets.

Why isn't Market Street included?

Unfortunately I don't have any of these amazing sets but as a Modular City builder and lover my vote goes to the Green Grocery. In my opinion the most accurated and beautifulest of the three

Because it's a LEGO factory set that's not part of this trio of LEGO designed sets. Would you vote for it if it were part of the poll?

Wow BB! I would of thought with your fantastic modular MOCs, you owned a few of these.

I must admit that I had never planned to buy any of these sets, but after picking up Cafe Corner, I was hooked. Each set seemed to get better. Now I love the Fire Brigade. I just think it's missing a ladder.

Yes, I would.

I was just asking you that because even TLG themselves consider it a Modular House -- and Wikipedia, too. [See here]

Here is some box art, if you need it:

I don't think the tribute fan set shall be included. Voted for the cafe corner btw. I also own the green grocer, but CC was the first and has the most interesting building techniques.

Halas no. :sadnew: Remember I live in Spain so concerning Lego this means allways later, allways harder to find, allways more expensive... :hmpf_bad:

Jipay: it's always great to read your input on threads like this! :classic:

Even after buying the Green Grocer, I still liked the look of Cafe Corner. There's something very special about the exterior design that I appreciate. When first building and adding to my town; I kept thinking, what a great set! It gave me that "warm fuzzy".

But now that I have Fire Brigade, I love the exterior design, esp. the brick work; and the bell tower is great with the white arch pieces.

I can certainly understand that. They are expensive sets. In the past, I usually kept my budget to $100 (USD) for most sets (unless very special). But considering, your MOCs certainly make a nice collection of modulars.

+1, I vote Market Street! Erik Brok (RIP) was the man!

This was my thought as well. It wasn't completely designed by TLG, but they did the final tweaking, LEGO released it as a modular building and used it to demonstrate the Modular standards for building size, connections and sidewalk width on their website. Obviously TLG thought it was a Modular building.

I would vote for it being my favorite building. Purely based on the asthetics of the facade and the color scheme, I might vote for Green Grocer. Overall though, for modularity, innovation, and creativity, as well as a charming design and the use of the "walk-up" (rather than having the entrance at ground level) I would VOTE for Market Street. Additionally as anyone who has seem "Brickington" (see my sig) will attest, I personally love the way it took the concept of Modularity and applied to the interchangeability of foundations, floors and roofs to create buildings that can interchange parts rather than buildings that simply have the same style, street/sidwalk setback, and happen to fit on a baseplate.

As you see, there's something to be said for all of them. I had a really hard time choosing and I would rather not favor any building over the other. Even the 'little brother' of the series (Market Street) has its own special place. Furthermore, the Dutch/Belgian inspiration may make it a little more special for Dutch/Belgian people. Erik Brok indeed did a really great job, especially considering that he was restricted to the then available part selection in PaB/Factory.

About Market Street: One of its best features is the price. You get Cafe Corner style scale, detail and intricacy for a lower price point. Though aside from the FACTORY boxart, I don't feel it belongs to the exclusives on the poll, as they seem to have only one each year: CC on 07, GG on 08 and Fire Brigade 09.

who knows, next year we might get an exclusive Police Station to end all LEGO Police Stations :cry_happy: (at least for me; Fire Brigade ended all fire stations, even the new 2010 one, except for the fire trucks)

Green Grocer gets my vote. For me, it's all about the details, which is where I feel Market Street falls shortest. I understand PaB elements were limited at the time, but the detail work kinda fell flat for me - the generic gargoyle/lion head statue thing at the top and ugly/mismatched gate in particular. The awnings are nice, though. Green Grocer has the most interesting details to me, like the ground floor interior, cat and mouse, skeleton leg decor, drapes, lamps...

Also, I personally don't include Market Street in the modular house line, but it does fit and could probably have been in the poll. It's not a huge deal that it isn't, though, because it really does go either way. It's all good!

Isn't Market Street missing??

I voted for Green Grocer because the details are simply amazing

Fire Brigade is a close 2nd because it was also really cool and well designed.

I don't own any of these, but I would, it wuold be the Green grocer, because of the colors and the beauty of both the outside and the inside.

Honestly, the Fire brigade may be outstanding as a a stand-alone, but no as good as CC or GG (and I would have loved it at least in modular buildings Lego would have chosen civillian sets).

One gets a whole different perspective after building and displaying these in your own city. The pictures are very deceiving. Up close, they really look different (and larger - at least I think).

Green Grocer is the best for me. With the detailed interior and colourful display (of veggies, fruits and cakes), it just seems to make the whole set come alive.

Cafe Corner comes a close second but without any detailed interior, it just cannot overtake Green grocer for me...

This topic poses a quite interesting question!! I'm torn between Green Grocer and Fire Brigade. At the moment I own only Green Grocer and I absolutely love it. I never liked Corner Cafe as it was just an empty shell and I couldn't justify the outlay for it. Green Grocer, however does have interior detailing. I really love Fire subjects though and I'm eagerly awaiting Fire Brigade to hit Aussie shores, so I can't really decide between the two! :cry_sad: For the poll however, I voted Green Grocer, as it's the only one I've got for now, but not for long! (I hope!)
