I remember when the Lego Pimp Du Jour was the Orc King from last year...does Lego need to put pimps in all their themes? Think of the children!!!

All joking aside, that looks like a great minifig and I can't wait for pictures of the actual sets.

I like the police HQ a lot, especially the truck it comes with and the big corner panels in trans-blue. By the standards of Lego space bases of the past, it has fairly solid construction and doesn't feel overly "open." I'll probably get that set, but the other two don't look nearly as appealing.

I'm so bummed the minifigures are going to seemingly be hard to get.

These SP3 enemies have all remained very expensive on Bricklink, even the ones that are fairly easy to get. I don't really want the Gold Heist set and was going to get Frenzy separately (the only guy I don't have yet), but last I checked he costs almost half the price of the entire set. :sceptic:

That bad dude in the limo set... purple fedora... definitely got the makings of a pimp. My brother keeps asking me what that makes the other alien in the set. I'm trying not to follow that train of thought. default_wacko.gif

That guy seems to have a white or flesh head, which suggests that he isn't actually a human. It's good that they are including a few enemies with new molds, although that other guy is overused in these upcoming sets. We can also see now that the second alien in the police HQ is a recolor of the Skull twins, not of Frenzy as many of us thought earlier.

I really want to like the ships, but the parts used just kills it for me. I gave wave 1 from 2009 a fair chance, but the abundant use of technic panels and massive slopes turns me off. Yes it makes the ships look sleek and futuristic, but I would much rather these be made up of smaller pieces and wings with studs on them.

This is true about most of the 2009 line, but the Galactic Enforcer is an exception to all that. It uses a lot of conventional construction and closely follows the style of the Space flagships of the past.

If you ask me he looks more skeletal or insect like, if you look carefully you'll see two prongs or teeth at the bottom of his head.

Yes! My instincts were right!

The new creature included in all the new sets is not a recolour of Squidman. I originally thought that (the "eyes" (actually, arms) threw me off!) it was, but then I realised there seemed to be a spike or something on the top of the head.

I didn't exactly see the Skull twin recolour coming. Ever since someone pointed it out, I'd thought of the spaces in the helmet as eyes.

As for the strange purple-suited character, I definitely didn't expect that. I had imagined that the white face were teeth, and that the head was elongated. He looks sort of vampiric to me, given what appears to be fangs, and plus the skull on the limo. notice recoloured, reused skull stickers on fins. Interesting.

Well, looks like everyone wins. New creatures, and a recolour of a Skull twin, which some people wanted.

WTF?! A Lego Space Pimp? That is too funny! The sets don't interest me much though. I might get that limo on clearance, but otherwise, this has been it for SP3 for me. :sadnew: The not-so Undercover Cruiser has a stupid name and is mostly made out of large Technic pieces. I cannot approve of that.

So this is it for Space Police 3? :cry_sad:

The base looks decent enough to me, but the other two are sort of ho-hum (hopes TLG gives them special lower prices). Last year SP3 came in like a lion and will now go out like a lamb, in a way opposite of the course Mars Mission took.

After this year I hope LEGO Space doesn't go on another long term break, like the 6 year spread between Life on Mars (2001) and Mars Mission (2007). :sceptic:

But those two collectable minifigs a page back have me salivating, and could show promise of themes to come.

I really like the look of the SP Base and the new SP Vehicle.

Wish they'd tried a new design for the new Alien vehicle, this just looks like a bigger version of the existing vehicle.

I wasn't going to bother on any SPIII, but after getting a few of the 2009 kits on clearance I think I'm now hooked.

I love the commandos, but...

is this the end of regular police officers?

Looks like it, but I'm fine with that personally. I think these commando guys are how the SP3 figures should have been in the first place.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed that the trans-red visors on the commandos are not quite identical to the old SP1 visors? They are a different, lighter shade of trans-red.

LEGO doesn't use a different ID# or anything for the trans. red this year, so I'd assume it's just some aspect of the process that makes it closer to the intended color, rather than a different type of dye or plastic. My brother points out that there's an advantage to the new style of trans. red: it looks more red and less orange when in front of a minifig's face.

I actually liked the 2009 SP helmets, just because they had a very "police" feel to them. The new commando helmets might have been appropriate to the older Space Police incarnations, but this year's more localized, urban feel and realistic police color scheme seem (IMO) more appropriate with realistic-looking helmets.

One thing I'm glad to see is that black is still an important part of the color scheme. The sticker sheet of Raid VPR made me worry that we were switching to black "POLICE" text on a white background, which is a lot less classy-feeling than the previous preferred style of white "POLICE text on a black background.

Can anyone tell what the action feature is being demonstrated on the box of the Undercover whatsit? There's a little box above the alien's pic, but I can't tell what it's demonstrating.

it looks like the whole front part flips round to the back, so the cockpit is at the front.

I'm pretty sure that's a light gray Kranxx with a hat.

Perfect! :wub::laugh:

Really, if they had Squidman's Pitstop last year, the line really deserves a Space Pimp's Palace

Absolutely! I would love that! I really like the new sets. The "pimp" looks like a Skull Twin Mafia Member. I'm kinda disappointed that there is a pink Skull twin in the SP HQ set :sceptic:

The eyes look way too low on the head for it to be Kranxx. Methinks it's a totally new head sculpt.

I'm pretty sure it's more of an orange-red, hence his "fire" appearance(like his vehicle).

It actually seems the other way around to me. The older visor is a deeper red while the newer one has an orange tinge to it, especially if you remove them from the helmets and look at them from the top.

Yeah, and I don't think Kranxx's head would fit in a ordinary hat either.

Noticed something very strange just then.

The new alien (the ape-like thing with the blue/green head and orange torso) has a strange head. The hole which connects the torso to the head seems to be located on the green part, giving it a hunched look.

Interesting.

Well duh but ever thought it was possible that it's a new mould? Like the hat's not removable? It makes sense to me. :sceptic:

Then it wouldn't be Kranxx anymore, would it? If they are going to the trouble of making a new mold, I don't think they would base it so closely on the existing Kranxx head.

What the heck are guys going on about? It's clearly a normal minifig head with Indy's fedora (to me anyway). :sceptic:

So, the Undercover Cruiser has some kind of transforming feature? That makes a bit more sense. Perhaps it turns from a civilian-style vehicle to the podracer-like police cruiser we see on the boxart?
