Oky Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 its kind of disappointing that there arnt new space police outfits. but it is still great! What's wrong with the old ones? I think they're great! Oh, and please use some capitalization. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 What's wrong with the old ones? I think they're great! I think they're great, but not for space police. The outfits are perfect for my post-apoc mocs and my oppressive fascist army ( ) etc, but as Space Police I don't think they look right. They look too intimidating to be the do-gooders of the universe, I imagine a lot of systems would like a decidedly brighter uniform. Batbrick Away! Quote
Hound Knight Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 I think YG-49 was implying that the legs assembly with the skull buckle that we've seen in existing SPIII sets is a stand-in for different, yet-to-be-finished, legs. The Blacktron homage torso is likely the final or close to final version. Oh, I get it. Cool. Quote
Wout Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I was with my local lego dealer and I looked in his dealercatlog 5981 Raid VPR, White police aircraft from picture with lime Kranxx, who has the name "Rench" 5982 Big Purple aircraft with purple squidtron who is the leader of the space thugs (Tlc wrote that in the catalog), a chest from a bank and a space cop Quote
TheShnomon Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Squidtron? Clarification please? Quote
user Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Squidtron? Clarification please? Yeah what does he look like? And according to TLC Kranxx is the leader. Quote
Spyder Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 Thanks for the pics! Space Police is looking like it'll be a great year. That helmet is pure awsomeness, and I just wanna make a whole army of those ODST troopers. Kranxx looks really weird in green, but it'll still be nice to get more of him in a different color. Quote
mikey Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 (edited) Taking a closer look at that torso, it seems to have the general design of a Blacktron 1 torso, but with a Blacktron 2 symbol on it, so it's basically combining the the two old Blacktrons into a new one: Blacktron 3! Hopefully I'm right and Blacktron 3 will be the new enemy of SP3. It would make sense and it would be better than just a random bunch of crooks. I'm not really into Space, but when I saw SquidMan I knew I needed one (well two, to be honest). Now this Blacktron speculation (if true) would probably would push me over the edge (and into orbit), I hope this speculation comes true for all you Space Fans. I to would love to own some updated Blacktron sets. I think this Space Police Theme is very good, I have only bought the small sets but I really like it. The Space Police have great torso's, which are very usable in any Modern/ Future context, the Aliens are superb. From what I understand Blacktron were the baddest of the bad , so of course I would buy them. Fingers crossed! Edited September 25, 2009 by mikey Quote
Forresto Posted September 25, 2009 Posted September 25, 2009 I think it's awesome that they made spIII and that sales were good enough to keep it going. Personally this theme and power miners were themes that made up for by Agents and Atlantis.I'm just not into those two. When I saw the sets I just knew I had to buy all of the sets I could. Like I said I hope to see more aliens as police, but I also think it would be cool if they did sets like space police headquaters or that diner from one of those movies on lego/spacepolice3.com . ForceMaster Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 New information in a first post. Thanks, Wout!) Quote
Dark Wanderer Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 If that's seriously a revival of Blacktron... Well, I'll be happy for one. Although I hope that they go with a yellow-and-black color scheme- it's always seemed more classic to me. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 It's obvious who the REAL heroes are at this point; Blacktron. The humans have deemed themselves the "superior race" and begun a genocidal purge of the galaxy claiming billions of lives and entire species. Fighting back against these "Space Police" are Kranxx, Snake, Squidman, Frenzy and others, some the only survivors of their species, determined to topple the corrupt human empire once and for all and end the slaughter before it claims the universe! Batbrick Away! Quote
TheShnomon Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Shit, I'm totally using that story when I break out my Space Police next. Deep stuff, Batbrick. Quote

You know, I've always wondered why there are no Alien SP officers. Maybe it is some sort of "human superiority" conspiracy. Now we need to assassinate the leader of the humans. I like this little set here. In fact, I bough the last $10 SPIII set and I'm probably buying this one. Thanks for the pictures Forcemaster! I don't know about the whole Blacktron discussion as I'm not even sure if I was born yet. It was 80's, right? Quote
Princess Muttonchops Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 The new sets look interesting. I love the shade of green they've chosen for Wench, Rench, Ranch? It's good they've given the cops beefier-looking helmets, these aliens are baaad news amigos. Still, I can't help but feel they are helpless pawns, serving some evil mastermind who is the true villain in this whole story... That would be a cool set, the space police finally locate Bad Guy HQ, and find the man/alien pulling the strings, some really outlandish dude with tons of tentacles, a slug-like body, and at least three eyes... Oh yeah... Quote
mikey Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 ...some really outlandish dude with tons of tentacles, a slug-like body, and at least three eyes... Oh yeah... I think we might find this creature in one of the Atlantis sets? You have an excellent alternate reading of the Space Police line BatBrick! But of course this is the beauty of Original Themes. It is up to us to create the storylines. Quote
Batbrick Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Shit, I'm totally using that story when I break out my Space Police next. Deep stuff, Batbrick. What do you mean "use" that story? It's real dammit! Our own kind in the future will do this, and only we have the power to stop the mad purges now, and yet you joke! You're one of them aren't you!? You know, I've always wondered why there are no Alien SP officers. Maybe it is some sort of "human superiority" conspiracy. Now we need to assassinate the leader of the humans. Assassinating the leader is not enough, humans are evil by nature, they must all be stopped and re-educated using the most advanced of indoctrination techniques! Only then can there be true harmony in the universe. You have an excellent alternate reading of the Space Police line BatBrick! But of course this is the beauty of Original Themes. I completely agree! The first Blacktron and space police were humans vs. humans, but now... The aliens are indeed the heroes! That will be the way I'll play with my SP3 sets when I get one. I hope Lego recognise the Alien rights! It wasn't recognised since Mars Mission (who were captured and destroyed by humans)! Now it is the time! Quote
Oky Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 Yeah, I guess that story makes sense, especially considering what the humans did on mars. Btw, who else thinks that the return of Blacktron is the big underground conspiracy the space police is investigating in the animated Logs? Quote

Batbrick Posted September 27, 2009 Posted September 27, 2009 *Contacts FBI* Gentlemen, we've got a free thinker.... Release the B.A.T.S! Noooooooo! *Is brainwashed* The humans are the superior beings of the universe! Seriously though I do love the reinvention of Blackron as a more rebellious, ragtag group as opposed to a more organised crime syndicate. Still, every single time I'm using the Space Police, they're the villains, and the heroic Squidman must fight them! Batbrick Away! Quote
Unitron6991 Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Personally my pet theory about Blacktron is: Ogel rises to power in LEGO City Era Alpha Team topples Ogel Ogel escapes in his rocket ship -Hundreds of years pass- Blacktron are a ragtag group of rebels against the Federation(Classic-Space) Ogel's rocket comes out of wormhole near Blacktron planet Ogel organizes Blacktron into major power in quadrant to raise revenge on freedom... Dang you've got a mind for conspiracies, you've been watching lost have'nt you! I'm kidding, if this is what Lego was doing I think it would be a brilliant twist in the whole storyline. Quote
TheShnomon Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Incredibly sorry if this has already been brought to your attention, but has anybody else noticed on Space Police Log 4 when they first show the police base and you pause it at 0:30 you'll notice a large blue sign on the left that says "MOST WANTED" and it shows someone underneath. Any idea of who this is? Quote
