On a side note, doe's any know when these are coming out? I need the base before may 10th.

I think these are supposed to be "coming in August", but you may be able to find them at the end of June or sometime in July.

A private matter...

PS kdog,I love your comic!I've read each and every one in one month!

Didn't mean to pry! And thanks. That's quite a feat, as there's a lot to get through. Closing in on 300 pages. :)

I just can't wait to own that Police HQ. I love space stations that look like domes and bubbles. And it's about time the Space Police got a good base. The SP1 base was lacking, and SP2 didn't have a base.

I'll withhold judgment until I see a review, BUT I do agree that it's looking very promising. The Mars Mission base was a joke, so it's good to see we're getting a proper one after years and years of lack. Even if it's not as good as it looks, I'm sure it'll be much improved from Mars Mission's outpost thing.

I'm even more excited about that huge police cruiser thing.

I agree that this base is a lot better than the Mars Mission one. A lot more solid-looking. Personally the only thing I'm worried about in the photos we've seen from various conventions is that the black-and-yellow stripes on the stickers seem to use a different yellow than the garage doors. I'm not one of those who thinks the yellow is out of place to begin with, but to make the little yellow there is unable to match is worrisome.

The Undercover Cruiser is cool, although I myself think the base and the limo are a higher priority for me. The limo's not as trashy as the other bad guy stuff we've seen, so it probably won't have the same sort of metahumor as the graffiti on last year's stuff that referenced older space themes. But it's awfully classy, and the trans-yellow windscreens have a wonderful retro feel, even for someone like me who's to young to have caught Blacktron I in its heyday.

Speaking of which, I designed a neo-Blacktron model on DesignByMe, meant to fit into the SPIII era. I used Trans. Bright Green (Atlantis green) windshields because it would look better with Rench's awesome torso (it currently has a gray placeholder torso). I'm very conflicted about that, though, since the upcoming sets like the limo are making regular trans. yellow seem like a more appropriate option for an "Anti-SPIII" faction. Anyone else touched by this sort of contradiction?

Possibly.

:oh: OMG, OMG, OMG...

Oky's conflicting statements are conflicting.:laugh:

Dude, that was, like, in 2009. I have matured a lot since then. A guy can change his opinion, can't he? (Then again, becoming a mod would mean that I wouldn't be able to dominate any more contests. Hmmm...)

And no, using lots of emoticons and terms such as "dude" and "OMG" has nothing to do with maturing.

On that dark note, does the Sci-fi forum even have a mod all to it's own?

You're talking to him, brainiac! (No offense)

I'm shocked that no one has seen what I see in the photo's.

Maybe it's because most people aren't too excited about common details such as coffee makers and handcuffs in a set that has so many awesome things in it. And I agree with Aanchir, Invader Zim Insectoid Xim's speeder seems to have the usual orange to me.

Cool! I'd love to see it! :sweet: And no, I don't have that problem. I consider Lego Space to be a theme that is quite open to the user's imagination, with only a few guide lines laid down by TLC, so your sets and MOCs can really be whatever you want them to be. It's kind of the beauty of it since it's not so predetermined like Star Wars. (Did I just make an argument against SW? )

That's what I like about it as well. The villains have no specific color scheme, because they're really not all in the same faction.

Well, in my eyes, if an Insectoid (INSECTOID  ) has any color other than blue, green, or grey, it's unusual! (INSECTOID!!!)

Dude I was kidding. Anyway I do think it's cool that we now have like 3 different baddie factions! We have the purple yellow black, red and black, and orange color schemes which really add some variety! But I sure hope TLC makes names up for the factions for example the blackhole gang.

But I like "common details"!

I'm still deciding if I should get the base. The "common details" and recoloured Skull twin are nice, but I don't know if that can justify the price. I'm not a big fan of bases, and the only one I own is the Lavatraz set (if it can be considered one). It was on special, anyway.

I don't think the different color schemes are different factions. All of the baddies' craft, for instance (besides the Smash 'n' Grab) tends to have the same skull emblem somewhere on it, so it's quite clear that it's meant to be one large baddie faction.

Rench is a bit different since he's hinted to be hired from outside the gang (a nifty way to justify the Blacktron insignia and uniform), but he doesn't have a vehicle anyhow.

Oh  sorry. I'm just trying to create a clearer picture of what the base is.

On that Dutch site, there are some product descriptions as well. Here's the Google translation (edited by me for grammar and accuracy-- no, I don't know Dutch, so I'm mostly guessing):

Brick Daddy leads his criminal gang from his luxurious, extra long limousine. With Jawson as a driver and the heavy weapons and escape cabin aboard his vehicle, this villain is almost impossible to catch! But the Space Police heroes are there!

The Dutch version literally uses the names Brick Daddy and Jawson (not Dutch translations). Therefore, those would seem to be the "official" names. But that's still speculation; all I can say is that Brick Daddy is a lot more "street" sounding than the awkward "Brickfather", and Jawson is a perfect name for a convict/chauffeur. "escape cabin" sounds like an intriguing action feature-- curious how that's gonna work.

The Space Police keeps a number of dangerous space villains imprisoned in the cells of District 78. But Craniac intends to free them! Can the Space Police stop him and keep the universe safe?

"Craniac" is a lot less nostalgic than "Insectoid Xim", but it makes more sense, sounds less like an Invader Zim rip-off, and fits the appearance better (that's all just IMO, of course). The pic shows Craniac, not the police officer, holding the laser-gun with the trans. light blue axe blade everyone was raving about. I suppose that's cool since the Space Police have mostly shown more favor to their freeze-rays and similar ray guns.

The men of the Space Police chase unsuspecting alien criminal Jawson in their police ship that looks like a space freighter. But the ship transforms with lightning speed into the Space Police Cruiser SP! The hunt for space crooks begins!

Still lovin' the name Jawson. In the pictures, interestingly enough, the window appears Trans. Blue rather than Trans. Light Blue (as it was at ToyFair). Can't say I have a preference-- Trans. Blue makes more sense for Space Police, but Trans. Light Blue was a lot better for the undercover mode.

I'm overall very impressed, and can't wait to see how the Space Police logs address the story behind these brilliant sets!

Thanks for the links lisqr! I hadn't examined the pictures from the New York Toy Fair in detail, and the sets look much better than I thought!

It's great that the Space Police base gets baseplates! I wasn't expecting that, and the overall design of the set is just fantastic! Tons of cool stuff, like the black cow catchers on the satellite, the laser-guarded fences, the two mini bikes and, of course, the trans-light blue axe on the pistol! I just love trans-light blue

The Lunar Limo looks sleek! The splashes of purple all around aren't overpowering, and it really looks like a gangster limo.

The Undercover Cruiser seems like it's worth $30 USD - it's quite large for its price, and comes with an undercover mode feature!

However, I was hoping that TLG would've kept the trans-light blue windshield. I don't mind it that much though, as it does exist in another set (albeit an airline exclusive one).

The gangster vehicle looks neat! I like the large blasters at the front, and the overall look of it is much better than many of the other alien vehicles in the SPIII line.

I want all of the sets now (), but I'll only end up buying either the cruiser or the limo because of all the other amazing sets coming out this summer.

I have to say, those two ships look pretty slick. I love the elongated look of the limo - great interpretation of how a town vehicle might look in space. The Cruiser has an interesting shape as well. Space Police III has definitely drawn my attention to thee Sci-Fi genre of Lego.
