I faced a hard decision the other day when the Space Police HQ set was on special for $100. I'm going to skip the set altogether just to save money, which is a shame because I love Craniac.

I did get the Lunar Limo though, and couldn't resist taking all the gold pieces out. It still looks okay minus the golden engine...

Noooooo!!! I can't stress how much Space Police Central is a great set. I bought it a few weeks back, and have had great fun playing with it with my son. Don't get me wrong, the Lunar Limo is awesome also (also picked it up recently), but try and get SPC as soon as you can.

I'm not sure if it was already posted here, but the Lego SP site now has the dossiers for the new aliens. The Jawson one is hilarious.

Some Ideas Me and my brother Made up for Sets in 2011 could be a plaza with a galactic bank and maybe the statue that comes in galactic enforcer in the middle and in the bank could be a vault or something. and Maybe a mansion for brick daddy with a Black hole gang base in the basement or something. and i was also thinking they should make some small sets that come with a few space police that you can use to make a space police army or something.. and they should release that Diner in the space police Logs.... And new aliens :D

Well those are some of my ideas

I love these sets and bought the Galactic Enforcer last year from the lego website, but I've only ever seen these sets for sale online, never in the shops. I was wondering what's going on with their distribution. I live in the UK, the toy stores around me never have the sets in (Toys r us, The Entertainer, Tesco).

I've heard that in the UK, Space Police 3 sets are only being sold online or in Lego shops. Anywhere else that sells Lego won't have them. Noone seems to know why this is either.

Indeed, but I mainly want Craniac from it, so I figured it wouldn't be that worth it. It's also a bit overpriced here.

Either way, Star Wars this year is going to seriously deplete my budget, so I'm limiting sets now.

Hmmph. I have about two hundred dollars to spend on legos later this year. I've kind of spoiled myself, having every single space police set up to early 2010, so I've been thinking about buying the remaining space police sets to perfect my collection. However, also wrangling for the money are the new power miners sets(I want to collect every rock monster, kind of hard to give up) and the portal to Atlantis set(I already have all five rings, just want the portal emperor. Have two keychains, one still a WIP and the other one's helmet got mutilated while attempting to remove the keychain). Can anybody give me some recommendations on how to spend my money??

About 2011, if anyone has seen the July lego magazine, the space police comic featuring the undercover ship and the limo, it has a whole bunch of civilian ships in the comic. It's most likely bogus like the elves theme, probably more so because it's a comic, but it could be sign of things to come. If lego actually made them, they would fly off the shelves like hotcakes.

On a more realistic note, it looks like Space Police is running out of steam. Pirates was an "evergreen" theme, and the 2009 one died after 2-3 years, so nothing protects space police from the same fate. This is only compounded by the fact that Klaus-Dieter, who peeked inside a 2011 retail catalog, hasn't mentioned anything about space police for 2011 and that the entire theme is acting like it's dying(Massive full-theme first wave, tiny intermediate wave, smaller second wave). Personally I hope lego has something under wraps for the space police, like medieval market or the imperial flagship. Perhaps a humongous spaceship, or, even better, a small space civilian center(bank? mall? cargo port?) with some truly civilian ships in it. That would be awesome, and even knowing the price of exclusives, I would be willing to buy it.

This is off topic, probably by a couple thousand years in the lego universe, but if they really did come out with a space police "last set, theme-killing extravaganza, mother of all space police sets, bang", I would regret my medieval market purchase.

Edit: Dammit! It seems that while I was typing another dude thought of the EXACT same thing as I did. This makes a full third of my post redundant. But I do agree with him. Lego is moving towards having numerous but shorter themes.

I just bought my first Lego Set in years that was Indy, Toy Story, or SW. I got the SPace Police SMash N Grab and love it! I had been looking at the sets for a while now liking the style of the vehix and decided to bite the bullet with a semi cheaper set to feel it out. I'll definately be buying more! I really want the limo and the truck with the cannon boxed up in back. They both look great. Any suggestions for sets that are better than what the box would have you think?

The Container Heist/Space Truck Getaway set (the truck with the yellow container on the back laser cannon that you mentioned) is better than it seems on the box art. Most of the 2009 sets however are not as good as they look on the box (that doesn't mean they aren't good) worst offender being Gold Heist. The 2010 sets are much better sets than the 2009 ones, I'd recommend ALL 5 very highly!

Has anyone else seen the SP logs here? I just noticed this page today and it looks like Squidtron turned on his creator.

Yeah, those have been up for a while. It also hasn't been a while since an update, and (regrettably) the most recent updates haven't had the awesome art that made the early ones so exciting. I hope updates come back regularly in the near future.

Sorry to double-post, but has anyone seen this?. It's a contest to build a crook-catching vehicle for the Space Police. Additionally, it has three videos (probably from the same guy who did the Space Police videos last year), showing off Craniac, Jawson, and Brick Daddy. Impressively, the prize for the contest is a brick-built bust of one of the criminals.

I'm thinking I might enter. Yesterday my brother and I got Space Police Central, which is why I'm in a Space Police mood today (and why I checked the Space Police website). Anyone else thinking of entering?

That sounds like a cool contest! Thanks for sharing Aanchir, I might enter.

I wonder what the bust of the criminal will look like.

You can see all three in any of the videos on the page I linked to. They're pretty cool.

Whay is it that the 5979 Max Security Transport sells for so much? Was it extremely HTF or something?!

It was a Target exclusive that, unlike most store exclusives, was only available for a very short period of time. I think it was in stores for about 3 months or so, could be wrong on that number. I do know for sure that I used to go to my local Lego store on a monthly basis and I only saw it there once.

I do know that I definitely regret not getting when I could, I kept telling myself I'd pick it up when it got cheap but then it just disappeared, seemingly overnight.

oh ok...thanks for the info. It looks great and I'd liketo get it, but doesn't really look worth $60-70 IMO. Bought the Hyperspeed pursuit the other day and freakin love it!

another question...on the gold heist set, i sthe police vehicle as crappy as it seems? i watch a youtube review of it and the engines kinda flop around real loose-like. Are they really that loose or did the guy miss a step in the building?

For some reason they are merely attached by 1 technic pin, so they can rotate around... a little too well for my liking. I assume you refer to the ones on the front wings and not the engines at the back. It's not terrible, but I don't like it.

And the Max Security Transport was "limited edition" everywhere, but they had plenty here when SP3 was first released and then again just before Christmas. (2009)

Gold Heist is overall a somewhat mediocre set. The front of the vehicle is beautiful, as are the engines, and the back is also quite impressive. But the openness of the sides of the cockpit/cab, the looseness of the hinged roof, engines, and front, and the awkwardness of the "grabbing" feature for the safe make the set a bit less than it could have been. The safe also doesn't impress me: I understand that its bulkiness allows for the "grabbing" feature, but I much prefer the smaller safe in Hyperspeed Pursuit (which actually comes with more gold!).

Still, I would definitely recommend getting the set, particularly if you can get it at a discount. It has great parts, great stickers, and nice minifigs (Frenzy himself is OK, and there's also a police officer with an awesome face print).

I own the set, and personally I'd suggest you save your money. Anything from the second wave is MUCH better than the Gold Heist. It's a shame, because it had a lot of potential, but ultimately I'd recommend you spend your dough on something more worthwhile.

about the building contest above

be warned there is an age limit

"Grand Prize winner and one (1) First Prize winner will be selected in each of the following age categories: 5-7; 8-10; 11-13."

so I guess that means that anyone over 13 cannot enter.

anyone who is, for example 32 years old is far too old to be building lego!
