Dannylonglegs Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 I think is fake- there is no Flickfires! lol beet me 2 it I knew it was fake ( well actually I don't work for lego and thus couldn't know) but I had a creeping suspicion ( about the size of godzilla) that It was fake. It's ugly. It's old style background. and the police guy looks like he has an old style helmet. but it's fake so I'll stop ranting. Quote
Draykov Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 69 pieces for $13?!?!Failure! With LEGO's yearly, insanely, price increases they are just wanting me to enter another dark age. I'm hoping that's Amazon insanity and not LEGO MSRP insanity. Quote
Mission Commander Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It's a Jack Stone cockpit that has never been used on a normal set, stickers are Exo-Force. It's Fake. The Jack Stone cockpit was in Bounty hunter pursuit. Quote
Oky Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 That was a completely different piece, and not even trans blue. And what does it matter anyway? This is not relevant to the topic. On topic: The SP3 watch is now available on TRU.com: LINK Quote
phillip10 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I went to TRU a few weeks ago to get the space truck getaway and I saw that watch. I was gonna get it but it's 20 usd! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I thought that watch was common knowledge, or perhaps I saw it and assumed since I never see anything first that it was Drat! Oh well. I ussualy don't buy stuf like that (because when I was a kid I had a bad experiance with bionicle watch *shudders* so many links so many problems) and this will be no different, especialy since it's just an exorbitant watch with a generic popo on it. ~Insectoids FTW Quote
RocketClone Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 Bad experience with a bionicle watch? Is there something you know that we dont? Anyways besides the SP watch a saw some Racers, Star Wars, and City watches at ToysRus as well. Quote
Alywin Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 (edited) It seems the guys at "Mostly Bricks" got the real box set of 5981 already, as revealed from their flickr (Their Flickr) Edited November 15, 2009 by Alywin Quote

ILikePi Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 It seems the guys at "Mostly Bricks" got the real box set of 5981 already, as revealed from their flickr (Their Flickr)There's also a post on Brickset. Since the review isn't on Eurobricks, I guess I'll comment on the Raid VPR here... The box art looks much better now since the vehicles are inside the city instead of outside. I'm not really liking the new helmet, but at least it's airtight! Overall it looks like a good set, but I won't be getting it as it's pretty expensive for $10 USD. I can't wait to see the Smash 'n' Grab review! The set looks very promising with all of the purple. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 OOOoooooh new blacktron torso looks great, I just gotta get five(I like five its a good number.) I am a little dissapointed that we diddn't get a new legs piece though, although the transition is not as bad as I thought it would be. Btw and incase you didnt get it I'm talking about the SP VPR raid and Rench I just realized, It seems that every charactor of his(her) species has a name related to machinary Kranxx(crank) and Rench (wrench) eh? ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
tonelok Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 It seems the guys at "Mostly Bricks" got the real box set of 5981 already, as revealed from their flickr (Their Flickr) They've posted a review of the 5981 as well. They also picked up the 5982 Smash and Grab but haven't reviewed that yet. I live in that area and went to the Toys R Us they mentioned a few hours ago and low and behold, the sets were still there. I picked up the 5981 and the 8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub from Atlantis. The Smash and Grab was there, but was not in my budget. There were other people there looking at the 2010 sets. One had a kid, but the other was asking a TRU employee how many Typhoon and Smash and Grab sets they had in the back so I'm thinking ebayer I recently just got back into LEGO because of some of the latest sets plus the upcoming Atlantis, but I have to agree with the review of the 5981, it's very elegant and minimalist looking, although I would describe it as clean looking. Holding the 5981 up next to the other space police sets, the other ones look "busy" next to it. I don't know if that makes sense, but I guess I would say the 5981 almost doesn't look like it fits in with most of the others, except for the police theme. http://www.flickr.com/photos/cjedwards47/4104846224/ :( At the risk of sounding dumb, why don't people like it? Is it considered to be a weaker connection than before? I've attached a photo of it, it seems pretty sturdy to me, but I could see little kids knocking it off. I think it should almost be in with the impulse sets and maybe priced a dollar or two cheaper, but I'm not complaining, I really like the look of it. Quote
Sonic Screwdriver Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Woah, these new space Legos seem very strange to me. The last set I ever built from a new box was probably an Ice Planet or Spyrius (1993/4?) item. Looking at the parts on the Space Police 5981 Raid VPR, I see some familiar pieces, and some items that are unfamiliar. I've noticed that many of the Lego space sets use underlying structures built on the "classical" type of Lego component, and have more specifically shaped pieces for the exteriors. The exterior parts seem a bit odd to me, as they seem less flexible than the traditional parts in terms of their versatility. Stickers are also a bit of a shock to me... 20 years ago this was unheard of! I like the alien Rench -- the references to Blacktron and Blacktron 2 are quite funny. I also really like the smooth blue cockpit of the VPR. I think all of my clear window and cockpit pieces are of the angular polygon type. Nice to see this new style. Wouldn't mind having a squadron or two of these Vipers, and a Battlestar to launch them! Quote
phillip10 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Those sets look awesome I need them for my birthday! Quote

Yeah, Mostly Bricks put their review of the 5982 and their 5982 flickr gallery up and while I could live without the stickers, some of the purple pieces seem pretty limiting to me for MOCs, especially the large fenders/sides. I guess if you like purple, they wouldn't be a limitation. I guess it's just a matter of how you can achieve a certain look with fewer pieces or something. Since you haven't looked into the space sets in probably as long as I have, you should really look at the 5981, it has a classical feel to it and uses a lot of "classic" Lego parts. I'll post a review here Monday night if nobody else does. I wouldn't mind having a couple of more of the 5981s, but I'll have to wait. I wish I hadn't put my stickers on the tail and the wings, but I'm sure they'll start showing up on Bricklink sometime soon. Edited November 16, 2009 by tonelok Quote
ILikePi Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Just read the review on 5982 Smash 'n' Grab, and the set looks stunning! Of course, there is a big gap in the back, but the abundance of purple makes up for it. The "Max $250,000" sticker on the crane is hilarious. The set also includes some useful pieces, like the crane hook and the windscreen in a new trans-yellow color. Also, the set comes with an extra purple cheese slope, a great bonus! Even though the set is this good, I can't decide on whether or not to get it. There are just so many fantastic sets and new themes next year for my LEGO budget... Quote
Yakop Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I kinda like those sets. The new blacktron inspired torso is awesome for the cockpit piece, I'm sure that there is a reason and that we will find something fun to do with it Quote
Ja7on Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Squidtron? Clarification please? Squidtron is a part of the new set 5982 Smash'n'Grab ... I haven't opened mine yet (Toys R Us had Space Police 2010 sets on the shelf, lucky me), but I will try to get some pictures posted soon. Rench definitely looks a bit strange in green, and the Blacktron chest doesn't quite mesh with the skull belt buckle, but the new helmet + trans-red visor makes up for it. The Rapid VPR I snagged had 2 visors in it (no big surprise, but it was nice to confirm). Ja7on Quote
phillip10 Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 I just bought the smash n grab! Its an okay set . I wouldve got the raid VPR but tru didnt have it! Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Well gents it seems we didn't make it to the front page, Pitty, I always like having a quick link to Space forum I have yet to visit my local TRU, thus I am not sure If the TRUs in PA are selling the new SP sets. I can't wait to get Rench and the VPR ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Forresto Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 This was an image that was posted in a seperate topic link . Is it just me or does the blaster look a lot like Brickforge's Mega gun . Maybe space police might be getting a new blaster? Anyways the astronaut is incredible! Maybe this could be an upcoming astronaut in SPIII. You never know because the Classic Space people were a different orginisation then space police, they're like the explorers. I know this is most likely from Lego universe but that does'nt mean it does'nt have truth to it. To me this would be pretty rad if it was an updated reboot of classic space. Just imangine these fellows in blue, red, and yellow. For me who missed out on the original ones besides it would be extremely smart of Lego to do so, because not only are they cool looking which would appeal to younger buyers but also to AFOLs who love classic space. I would be very dissapointed in lego if they did'nt make this into a minifigure. What do you guys think? Quote
RocketClone Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) And that helmet looks a lot like BrickForges Space marine helmet, I don't know this is probaly brickjournals doing. Edited November 26, 2009 by RocketClone Quote
Corvus Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 And that helmet looks a lot like BrickForges Space marine helmet, I don't know this is probaly brickjournals doing. That's actually the helmet that comes in the new SP sets, but white. Anyway, I'd love to get a fig like that. It's so much better than the SP ones we have now. Quote
Oky Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) Did you actually read the thread that that was posted in? According to Ras and others, this fig will be part of a trading cards -style promotion where they sell minifigs in polybags. So if that fig is going to be released, it has nothing to do with Space Police, or even space for that matter. But yes, it sure is lovely!
