Posted September 28, 200915 yr Modifications to one of my favorite LEGO elements has started. I really wanted to add a few concepts to the bike and the chassis is undergoing work as we speak as well to allow it all to flow. I'm quite satisfied with how its has gone so far. Please keep in mind this is a very rough copy. The final version will have some very nice vibrant green paint, sealant, decal, etc. I then worked on it a little more before taking photos of the back of the bike. All suggestions or welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Zack

September 30, 200915 yr Once you smooth out all the glue marks and resin cast the piece it's going to be amazing.
September 30, 200915 yr Author Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I am hoping to smooth it out and resin cast a few of these. I just have to learn where to pick up some resin casting supplies (plastics, molds, etc.) and make a few of these bikes. If anyone had any tips on what to use or how to go about doing it that would be great.
October 1, 200915 yr Generally, the really big Arts/Crafts stores tend to have Resin, Dye, and liquids to cast with. I think the one near me is called AC Moore. You might have one locally. If you would insist on using official Lego plastics and colors, I think you could grind up and melt ( ) Lego bricks to pour into the mould. Hope that helps a little.
October 2, 200915 yr Grinding and melting(did you say LEGO bricks?!) wont help you much, since you need to inject it with high pressure. As far as it goes with resin casting: it could work, BUT its not as sturdy as ABS plastic. So be gentle with your creations. Oh, BTW, nice looking dirt bike , just smooth it one few places and paint it in vivid colors.

I recall hearing the name and I'll see what comes up. Odds are that I'll make resin molds and use a plastic the resin can handle. Then I'll have to look into dyeing or I already know spray painting and applying sealant may work.
October 3, 200915 yr It's looking good. I can't wait to see it finalized, I really liked the new motorcycle when it came out but you are making it better.
October 3, 200915 yr Author I was looking into an AC Moore around me, but as it turns out the nearest one is nearly 80 miles away. I don't see traveling there as an option. I've decided to just order through the online store. I searched Resin Casting and got a load of results. I'm not exactly sure which one I'm looking for. Does anyone know what I'm going to need (as of right now all I have is clay and LEGO bricks) to resin cast some of my mods and designs?
October 3, 200915 yr Alumilite. All the casting stuff you would need. You can PM me if you need any more info.
October 4, 200915 yr Looking good, Adding the paint will definitely give more life to the motorcycle!

October 5, 200915 yr Author I will definitely be buying the Alumnite as soon as I save up the $60 to buy is all. I let you all know when I get some more WIP pictures or when casting starts.
