Blakbird Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Great to fit with my models! This is in scale 1:17 and mine are in 1:17,5 so who cares. I can see a very nice render coming up pretty soon, a combination of this amazing build as load for my lowboy trailer with flip axle... @ Blakbird: Wouldn't that be nice? Yes, that would be nice. The this year to be released yellow wheels for the Unimog tires would be a very nice update for this set of instructions!!! Actually, the instructions already use the Unimog tires. However, the yellow wheels were not available so that could be an update. Frontpaged, added to Hall of Fame and rewarded! M_longer should be be proud, especially since this model was first posted years ago and is finally getting the attention it deserves. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 @ Blakbird, let us make that happen! I ment the yellow wheels themselves. The other yellow wheels could be removed and to me the looks would increase enormous! Yes it really deserve the attentions, it is an amazing good looking and realistic model with great functionality to it. Quote
Jim Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 M_longer should be proud, especially since this model was first posted years ago and is finally getting the attention it deserves. Agreed!! I was looking at the date and suddenly noticed it's a MOC from 2009 Quote
M_longer Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 Agreed!! I was looking at the date and suddenly noticed it's a MOC from 2009 Better thanks Blakbird for his infinite amounts of patience. I am a horrible person when it comes to cooperation ;) Quote
Rishab N Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Great work! I'm looking forward to building this over the summer! Quote
afol1969 Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Excellent work! Another Moc in my "must-build" list A very good combination of technicand common parts, that gives a very good and realistic look. After a first check of the part list I've already most parts to build it, but that for a later time, I still have another projects for making instructions. Greetings Alex Quote

Do you like to have your model combined with mine in another amazing render by Blakbird? This one: In a combination render like this: Quote
bjorkan Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 Well,  , that is all I can say. Quote
ritztoys Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 If Blakbird releases a render of these fantastic MOCs together, I'm going to have to wear a bib in order not to drool all over my laptop keyboard Quote
Blakbird Posted February 12, 2014 Posted February 12, 2014 I meant the yellow wheels themselves. The other yellow wheels could be removed and to me the looks would increase enormous! These pictures show the difference between the wheels in the original model and the newly available yellow wheels. Both use the Unimog tires which are different than the balloon tires M_longer used in 2009. I'm not actually sure the new wheels are an improvement. They are too open compared with the real thing. Do you like to have your model combined with mine in another amazing render by Blakbird? That would indeed be epic. If only I had an LDraw model of that truck and trailer........ Quote

Yeah, I know what you mean, I start doubting myself too! It starts looking like a shovel with sports wheels... Is there no large yellow dish available to "close" the wheel? That would indeed be epic. If only I had an LDraw model of that truck and trailer........ Yes, I know... Give me a couple of more days to get the files ready for the lowboy and heavy duty truck. I'll send them over soon with the files for the US Truck T2 MkII and Trailer Tr2 MkII. Please hold on... Great idea :) We are working on it! Thanks for your reply... D3K Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 I agree that the new rims without anything else looks too open compared to the real thing. However, the Unimog tires look better IMO Quote
Rijkvv Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Awesome loader and better looking and I think better working than the official LEGO Volvo set! I had to buy instructions for this but I'm not sure which remotes to use, the bigger one for driving and perhaps steering but I think raising and lowering the bucket can be achieved with the smaller remote. Is there no large yellow dish available to "close" the wheel? I think I prefer the old rims and to me they look nice enough with the yellow wheels. Another solution might be the big yellow sprocket wheel, not sure if it fits on this rim but I've seen them before mounted in this way. Quote

Is there no large yellow dish available to "close" the wheel? Unfortunatelly, 6x6 dish does not exist in yellow :( This is the reason why I am using that 62.4 wheels as wheel caps. Quote

That's too bad! Those would do so fine... Never the less you came up with a very nice solution! We all know about needing a specific part in a specific color not being available. Overall this creation is just amazing and as I worte, I might actually build it someday... Edited February 13, 2014 by 2LegoOrNot2Lego... Quote
ritztoys Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Hey Fellow Builders, For those of us actually building this, I'm needing a few suggestions on where/how to route the PF wires. I noticed a small vertical space ( on each side ) amongst the DBG bricks, right below the upper u-joint. Is this where I would route the two sets of PF wires from the front? I don't want to proceed to much further, because of 'tearing down' some assemblies to route these wires towards the rear of the model. It becomes too much work later on to add these wires in a proper way, that they're almost hidden on their way to the battery. Any help would be appreciated. Quote
Blakbird Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I didn't have any clue how to route the wires either, and the way I did it is almost certainly not optimal. That's why the instructions have a big disclaimer on them stating that the routing is up the builder. I'd recommend building the fenders which attach below the cabin before deciding anything because it closes up some of that space you are referring to. I didn't find any way to completely hide the wires.. Quote

I was hoping to assemble this once, but as we see this is so good looking, who cares how many times I get to build this fantastic MOC I decided to route where I was asking about, although I don't know at this point will there be a place for the PF LED mounting brick? Will this brick 'disappear in the bodywork somewhere? I hope so, I might have to take this apart again............. Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I know all about it, creating BI and especially the cable routing part. This is very important to me to have it all covered in the BI. Never the less do I understand you Blakbird for not doing so and giving the instructions this disclaimer. Maybe someone could add some pics to this topic when he or she manages to do the wiring. With every build the handling of the wiring is one of the toughest part by far. With some pics people might be helped and therefore would buying the BI be more attractive...IMHO... Quote

That's a heck of a good idea, if my PF wire routing works out OK, I'll be happy to provide you fellow builders with some pictures. Give me a few days, I don't like rushing builds. Models like this as well as some other MOCs' that I have built, I like to enjoy and appreciate the ways some of the builders have picked their parts to achieve the desired function and or physical support for the structure as a whole.
