I am in tears and shock staring at the pictures of this future set. I am amazed and so happy that when the Pirate theme ends, we will still have that new set to admire and hold onto as we did with the others. :)

Oh and can someone possibly get a closeup on the Lady Minifigure, I have an eye for fashion.

Look one page back on this thread, though I wouldn't mind if someone has something better than MS Paint to zoom with.

This size is what I had in mind. I too want to build bigger fregate, to hunt down the Black Seas Barracuda. When the time is right, I will start with building the fregate. I will use an excisting set and enlarge it. I want to use the weapons used in the comic's of the real redbeard.

I'm not sure if I buy this one. If do, I keep it MISB.

This is a beautiful set. I'm not really into pirates set but this is a must buy for me. It will go very very nicely with the only other pirate set I have ... Blackbeard's bounty. 2010 is going to be another very very difficult year for my credit card.

I'm going to have this one no matter what. Looks great, although there are some things I don't like, but hey - maybe I'll leave that for a later time, right now we all should celebrate. Lego made my day with this set. :pir-classic:

Hm, did i see right, the captain has to climb up a ladder to reach the bridge ?

How else would one get up there, by teleportation? At least there actually finally IS a ladder, not like in other set where there is nothing at all to get up.

BB has the mast so close to the deck with the wheel that the ropes for the back mast can be used to climb up this deck... not very elegant for a pirate captain I admit. :pir_laugh2:

Not sure if there was a discussion on this already, but there is a short-legged pirate in this set which they call the cook, but on the box picture you can clearly see him fighting an Imperial guy with the pirate wielding a rather strange looking sword.

If anyone knows what he EXACTLY is..

You are right, that that is a bit strange. Also the fact that he is dressed like a pirate, but works as cook on an imperial ship?!

And in another picture, he's in the jail. :pir-sceptic:

He seems to be a real allround talent :pir_laugh2:

Well, here's my theory..pirates came on board of the ship tot ake it over, but they failed and got jailed, and then the little guy got enslaved to be the cook from now on :pir-tongue:

In one of the images, the chef is actually in the prison. In another, he's standing precariously at the far corner of the ship.

My story for him is that he gets into the hidden stash of the captain's port and creates trouble somehow, so he has to be thrown into the brig until he's sobered up. While he's in there, Brickbeard tries to persuade him to do small favours like getting hold of the key to the cell.

As I said earlier, I'm replacing the chef with the maid from Medieval Market Village. She looks the part and this way when the ships battle there won't be this awkward figure who's on the crew of the Imperial Flagship but looks exactly like an angry French pirate. Also, as a chef, she'll be the only woman on the Imperial side who knows how to use a knife. There are too many 'daughters' in this range who have no particular skills.

I'm curious... how long have the Lego Ambassador's on this forum known about this ship? Thinking back, I remember a few hints now and then, but I disregarded them as wishful thinking.

Incidentally, does anyone know what this 'poison bottle' is?

I would never let an enemy be my cook, you never know what he puts in the food! :pir-tongue:

EDIT: The description says there is a poison bottle included with this set, maybe it has to do with that.

Not sure why they call him a cook then...

(That means, maybe he is trying to poison them. Just a stupid guess. :pir-tongue:)

Next to Bonaparte, I suspect Erdbeereis, Mister Phes, and probably Slyowl knew some more in advance as well. :pir-wink:

I'm even more curious whether this set was developed in response to the call for ideas or whether this was already in the works back then.

Yes

Ah, thank you! I've spent ages trying to find an image of the inside of the cabin.

Hmm... so it's a jewel in a cone. I was sort of hoping there would be at least one new mould in this set, and this 'poison bottle' had my imagination going...

I guess they call it 'poison bottle' because 'booze' isn't kid friendly enough.

That looks like a new map, though, and NOT the map to the holy grail. So that's good.
