Teddy Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Aye, you can actually hear when you look at it.-Sir Norman "I'll be humming that all day!" Ray. Is that before or after we went up the river Thames and sunk the entire British fleet and took the flagship home? Here is a wiki link: British fleet sunk while in port Quote

Before that Spain ruled the waves and now the USA rules the waves. Quote

That is very true, BUT THe point I want to put across is that simply looking at this beauty, picture-wise and when I saw it up close in Seattle 5 weeks ago, the first thing I heard inmy head was the classic British Naval song. Much like how when I look at my WW2 British Platoon with Churchill support tank (which was also in Seattle for Operation Bricklord) always puts me in mind of Land of Hope and Glory. And when I look at my Market Square buildings I think of the opening theme to -Sir Norman "I like to think in songs." Ray. Quote

I concur that the song "Britania rules the waves" does stick in your mind, that is true. But so does "Deutschland uber alles". Those nationalistic songs just shiver my spine to the core. So, I feel the need to poke at them, sorry. Quote

I watch Spitting Image DVD's most of the time. A show famous for taking the mickey out of my poloitical party, the Conservatives, for 12 years. My personal opinion is that if something is truely important, it needs to be parodied. Politics, entertainment, national identity etc. It's all good in my opinion :) -Sir Norman "Rule Britannia! Britain doesn't rule that much! Come on, lets us face it! We're 10th rate!" Ray. Quote
Andre1983nl Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) Brickbeard’s Bounty has no chance against this beauty , How about The Black's Seas Barracuda? Edit- i forgot that the Bounty and the BSB are almost the same size Edited November 7, 2009 by Andre1983nl Quote
Admiral M Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Actually, the Skull-Eye Schooner has a chance. It had a four gun broadside and a slightly bigger crew (6 vs. 9), but had only 2 masts, 3 hull pieces, and no upper deck. Quote
Fluyt Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 (edited) Actually, the Skull-Eye Schooner has a chance. It had a four gun broadside and a slightly bigger crew (6 vs. 9), but had only 2 masts, 3 hull pieces, and no upper deck. Not just a chance, I think it would win, it has 3 masts actually (there's one on the rear deck), and probably a better sail surface to ship size ratio, so it's likely more manueverable. Erik_C Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Holy cow even a Dutch Lego shop But that is around the 235 euro's! Is this pre-order? http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=liesb...itemID=14910759 Nah it's not pre-order. He really has one in stock, but you have to be crazy to pay double the price for this... Quote
Swash Buckler Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Great work from lego- good sailing ship- best lego ship ever- capstan is too small though but still very great parts- minififgs and all- and at last more realistic sails without patterns well 16th century ships did really have patterns but it is good to see new kind of sails- masts a´re also nice but i don't like those parts used for tops of them they are same masts as in the 4+ sets- still incredible sets- thanks for good pics Quote

Rick Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I just wished they would have released this before Christmas this year. Yeah me too. Maybe they were out of exclusives for this year... Quote
MrTools Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Lucky for me me birthday is coming up, and i am getting a job at the pet store. By the time this set is out i will definately have the money for it! Quote
ukdevilz Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I am very happy to see lego create such a lovely ship! It's the biggest 'Imperial flag ship' ever! And most detailed! It's about time the Imperials were a REAL match against the pirate 'battleships'! Just think... if you own the BSB and SES then this Imperial flagship can take them both on in a sea battle! (just add 4 more cannons to the otherside lol) execellent work lego! Now we need few islanders and fortress for imperials to top it all of Quote

Ratshot Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I'm dying, I'm dying, I can't wait for this set any longer!!!! Quote
Voodoo Hand Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 I sure love to have that one! Saving up for at least 2 ships! Hope to gain more as well Quote
Thee Pirate Posted November 15, 2009 Posted November 15, 2009 Alright, sooooo.... do you think I should tell my wife I'm buying this when finances are so tight? Trick question, it would be a bad idea to tell her about this. Quote
TheBrickHitHouse Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 Just saw this I almost fainted I have dreamed of an Imperial ship worthy of the name for 20 years, something that can go up against the huge pirate vessels... ...and its finally been done, after all these years of waiting It has an interior too I'm hoping to get two and customise the second - the 2010 SW sets are so poor I have freed up plenty of funds by not going after them Only gripe - midships is a bit bland, take out the cannons and its all but empty. I'll need to think of something to put there - and naturally i'll need more cannons Quote
Enigma-85 Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 My god... finally, a ship that surpasses the Barracuda in all ways! That thing is just... superb! There's no other word to describe it. It actually looks like a real ship for once! Quote
commodore Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Haha, Just got one. It is BEAUTIFUL. My brickbeard's bounty is getting pounded. Quote
