Captain Blackmoor Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 My parents promised that they would purchase the ship for me on my Birthday January 23rd, so I have already created my posistion as ruler of the sea. ;) Anyone care to join me? I think my ship can be ready in that time, which will be a fourth rate Bluecoat ship. Prepare to lose the position as ruler of the sea. But still, I love the new ship. The colours are also really nice. Quote
Tom Bricks Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I had a mini heart attack seeing this last night but it was too late to post. Finally we got the ship we deserve. The ebay prices for this in 10 years will be astronomical. Quote
MicroM Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Great kit LEGO. I can't get over the amount of high end kits they are pumping out. Is there any word on the Australian price ?? Quote

Imperial Governer Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 So much for NO pirates sets in 2010! Indeed, LEGO you tricksters! Then again, the set does not have the Pirates box art, and may not be considered part of the Pirates collection by LEGO. But then again, it has 105% of all Pirates pieces created this year, so it HAS to be part of Pirates! Quote
General Armendariz Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 My parents promised that they would purchase the ship for me on my Birthday January 23rd, so I have already lucky, my birthday is 3 days before January Quote
Thee Pirate Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 What I don't get is everyone saying Lego should've included more cannon. After all, SES had 8 cannon ports but only 4 cannon... and while the SES and BSB were the same length, the BSB was limited to 2 cannons per side. This new ship is only 8 studs longer than those two, but since it also has 4 cannons per side, I'd say it'd be a fair match for these two to battle it out. Also, what's with them reusing an old set name? I already have an Imperial Flagship. Quote

Derfel Cadarn Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Cool, so many dark brown tiles, im gonna have to get a few of these for the parts! Nice ship as well, but will probably only be intact for a few hours till i rip it apart and start mocing with the pieces! Quote
UsernameMDM Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 But then again, it has 105% of all Pirates pieces created this year, so it HAS to be part of Pirates! Except for the Captain's Daughter. So you can bump it down to 95%. Quote
Joeyfalcone Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 Wow! it completely rips brickbeards bounty to pieces, might have to put my epic brick film on hold till i can manage to get my hands on the flagship and re build the BSB for a large scale sea battle :):) Quote
RampantDingo Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I will be saving so I can by this as soon as it comes out and beat the bluecoat monopoly on it with my highly trained redcoat expeditionary force, 4 soldiers on a boat this big is not enough to kill anything. Quote
green dewback Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Looks really great, but with the premium pricing they could have included all 8 cannons and more sailors. Quote
BeKindRewind Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Yes, I'm one more person saying "OMG I love it! Thank you TLG!" Having most of the very first line of pirates, I've been fairly disappointed with many of this year's sets to date, Soldiers' Fort being the shining exception. Really just not up to the caliber that TLG brought with sets like Eldorado's Fortress and the always impressive BSB. The bare-bones BB just seemed a bit thrown together. However, this Flagship obviously took a lot of hardwork and careful design. I don't mind the lack of rigging as it allows modularability (is that a word?) which is a HUGE plus. Add in the great cabin, deck, kitchen AND brig? Many older ships were lucky to just get a cabin! Kudos to you TLG. Kudos. Quote
meschepers Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 For all the people who are saying that it is too expensive of a set, that there should be more figs and more pieces, I went and did a little calculating: Total number of pieces on the 2009 pirate line (excluding the Imperial Flagship, accessories, games and battle packs)- 1567 pieces. Total number of pieces on the Imperial Flagship alone- 1664. This single set has 93 more pieces than entire 2009 pirate line combined. Brickbeard's Bounty has only 592 pieces for $99.99 (USD). You get three times the number of pieces for only $80 (USD) more. The total cost of the 2009 pirates line (once again, just sets- no accessories, games, or battle packs) is $232.99 (USD). The cost for the Imperial Flagship is $180 (USD). That is a difference of $53 (USD) for more parts than the ENTIRE pirates line of this year. To get this many parts you would have to spend more that $300 (USD) to get three Brickbeard's Bounties. Sure, you could have more ships, but you wouldn't necessarily get more quality parts for MOCing. With these few bits of info put out there for everyone to look at I think it is more than a fair deal. You don't get all the figs you would have hoped for, but what are the odds that you already have a bunch of figures from this line that could be used to fill out the crew some? It's a great model with a lot of pieces and it is even at a great price. I think $180 (USD) is a very nice price for a set of this quality. Quote
Corvus Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 OK, finally got home after a 6 hour drive and I've uploaded some pics (Used up my MB quota, too- I'm gonna need to get Pro for the rest of the pics) During the open ceremonies on the first day of Brickcon, someone turned on the projector- talking about Toy Story, the figs, the arms, and why Disney wanted the heads as they are, etc. etc. Then, an announcement: New S@H exclusive! As we leaned forward in our seats, Steve Witt (the sneaky scoundrel) snuck up to the front and held it up- and it was glorious. Link Quote
Commander Laquiet Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Great new pictures! Thanks! Is it a new map? Edited October 5, 2009 by Commander Laquiet Quote
Briggs Broadside Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Well, that's enough to get me to get a job! And get me out of my dark ages. This thing is impressive in every way. It's the best ship Lego has ever built, for starters. It's one of the best "Pirate" parts sets I've ever seen. And it's got so many minifigs it's not funny. My grand plan is actually to get two or three. I'll keep one as is, change the color scheme on another to red, and change the color scheme on the third to green (for Blueshirts and Spanish Armada). But that's a few paychecks, and I've yet to catch up on the rest of the new Pirate line. I wonder how it'd look with original Caribbean Clipper sails ... Quote

Smidy101 Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Great new set. Just when I thought the pirate line was dead. I wonder does this mean that they will make more pirates next year. This ship is so much better than the previous pirate and Imperial ships with great attention to detail. Roll on January. Quote
metalandi Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 (edited) Thanks a lot for the new detailed pictures, Mr. Mandalorian! With every new picture i see i love this ship more Edit: Just one question: since there's no picture that shows it clearly, is there any interior inside the prison cell? Edited October 5, 2009 by metalandi Quote
Yreodred Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 WOW and thank you for this nice new Pictures Mr. Mandalorian. The Captains Quarter looks interesting, the organ looks kinda cool. Does my memory decieve me, or did Captain Nemo have a Organ in his Quarters too? With every new picture i like this ship more and more. Again, thanks for those new Pictures. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Wow, I go away for a few days and I miss the official launch of this baby? Well, it looks bloody fantastic! I've been looking foward to decent pictures of this set for ages, and now that I have some, the cravings for this set just got even worse! It's about time we got a decent 3 masted imperial ship, and with white sails too! Brilliant job LEGO. Quote
Etzel Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Great new pictures! Thanks! Is it a new map? It hasn't been in any pirate set so far but it isn't all new, it was in Agents 8632 Mission 2: Swamp Raid actually. link Quote
kidcharm Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 I can't believe my eyes! This thing looks great! ...and the price seems reasonable for the amount of pieces! Beautiful set. ...I wondered if there could ever be something to top the barracuda and this looks to be a big, sexy 'YES'. Way to go Lego! ...Please make more! I'll be spreading this around the office today. Quote
